Denis O’Regan has two rides for Gordon Elliot and in doing so is looking to complete the full set of winners across UK Racecourses, which is no mean feat. We wish Denis well in his quest this afternoon and extend a particularly warm welcome to Gordon and his owners who have travelled over from Ireland to be here today.

We very much enjoy the patronage of Herefordshire Trainers and today sees Kerry Lee, Tom Lacey, Tom Symonds, Ryan Potter and Venetia Williams all with runners Without singling any of these out, a number are in fine form and we hope to cheer home some local winners today too!

With Christmas around the corner the Hereford Racehorse Ownership Club is a fantastic present for those who enjoy their racing. Membership is £299 and includes a lease share in Poniente who is in training with Venetia Williams, 50% equal share of prize money plus lots of exclusive news and events and ARC membership with free entry to over 500+ racedays. For further information please visit www.hereford-racecourse.co.uk

Our final raceday of 2022 is the popular Christmas Jumper Raceday on Saturday 10th December, our biggest raceday of the year. All restaurant, private hospitality and popular Day at the Races tickets have sold out but advance tickets can be purchased online from £19. Don’t forget to come in your best Christmas jumper for the fun competition!

I hope you enjoy racing today. Best wishes.

Welcome to Hereford for another afternoon’s Jump racing.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating,

TheBHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses oncetheyhave taken partina sufficientnumber of racestoenable the Handicappers to make anumerical assessmentofeach horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weighttobecarried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participantwithan equal chance based on its best recentformunder itsoptimum conditions.

Ahorse rated100, forexample, would be set to carry 1lb morethan ahorse rated99(ignoringany penalties or allowances). Theratings published in the racecardfor handicap racesare the ratings thatwereused to calculate the weighttobecarried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps racesthe rating shown is thatofeach runner at the time thatthe entries forthe race were confirmed.Any subsequently published change to arating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.for novicesteeplechasers, the latest hurdle race rating maybeshown until such time as the Handicappers allot aseparatesteeple chase rating.Such ratings areprefixed by the letter h.
