Looking to start your Christmas shopping for the person that has everything? Well now is the perfect opportunity to buy them membership to the Hereford Racehorse Ownership Club! The annual membership includes a share in the Venetia Williams’ trained horse Paseo. The membership also includes an annual 2024 ARC membership meaning you can have access to not only Hereford, but all of our courses in the group, including Chepstow, Bath, Uttoxeter, Worcester and Doncaster. Throughout the season we have our Day at the Races packages available which offer great value, including admission, hot pie, drink & racecard, but these do sell out fast so would encourage you to get booked in early via the website for your desired fixture. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 29th November, followed by our feature raceday, Christmas Jumper raceday on Saturday 16th December. On behalf of all the team here at Hereford we would like to extend our thoughts to Graham Lee and his family after his recent fall and send him all our best wishes for his recovery. Best wishes

Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

hope.

Unlikely to win but not totally without Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. for novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

Jigginstown King is the obvious threat as he goes for 4 in a row, although it will be interesting to see what the betting makes of the returning Pedley Wood, whose point win at the start of his career marks him down as a possible improver over fences for in-form Joe Tizzard. 1-2-3: 1.TEDWIN HILLS (IRE) 2.JIGGINSTOWN KING (IRE) 3.PEDLEY WOOD (IRE)

ALDSWORTH appeared to have matters under control when exiting at the second-last on his reappearance at Huntingdon and, granted a clear round here, compensation awaits. Next on the list is Fred Bear, who took a fierce hold when finishing a place adrift of the re-opposing Sheila Nash in a C&D handicap 15 days ago and will be a big threat if setting better this time. Sheila Nash is likely to be on the premises once again, while Sammylou is lurking on a dangerous mark and also enters calculations.
