WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM
WELCOME Welcome to the second day of the inaugural Winter Million here at Lingfield Park. Across the three days, the racecourse will host £1,000,000 in prize money, with yesterday and tomorrow’s jumps cards sandwiching today’s fantastic All-Weather Championships flat card. The feature race today is the new £100,000 Coral Winter Oaks at 3:40, which will be run over one mile and two furlongs. With a full field of fourteen fillies declared to run, it is set to be an excellent contest. All races count during the All-Weather Championships, and on Good Friday (15 April), Lingfield Park will play host to another new race meeting, the All-Weather Vase, which will see £390,000 in prize money available, offering a valuable target for some of the winter’s most consistent performers. Our thanks must go to the connections of all of this afternoon’s runners including the owners, trainers and racing staff for supporting the Winter Million meeting in its first year. Equally, to our sponsors Betway, MansionBet and Coral for their generous support this afternoon and across the whole All-Weather Championships season. Finally, our thanks go to Sky Sports Racing, who broadcast all seven races live this afternoon. From all of the team at Lingfield Park Racecourse, we would like to wish you all the best this afternoon, and hope that you enjoy the racing and come back to join us again soon.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Mimimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

Don’t miss the Parade of ex-racehorses at 11:50am - 12:00pm at the Parade Ring! About RoR:
A parade of retired racehorses takes place in the paddock from 11.50am to 12pm. The parade showcases the versatility of the thoroughbred together with the range of activities open to racehorses when they finish their racing careers, thanks to the work of Retraining of Racehorses (RoR). Today’s parade features a host of local former racehorses enjoying an active second career. Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing. The charity’s four core roles and responsibilities can be summarised as follows, RoR: • • • •
Creates a demand for former racehorses through opportunities to participate and compete in a range of equine disciplines and therapeutic activities. Educates owners and riders who take responsibility for former racehorses. Facilitates the transition to a second career for horses leaving racing. Protects the welfare of former racehorses, in particular those in need of charitable support and care.
In non-Covid affected times, RoR annually stages over 40 separate competition series across 15 different disciplines, catering for all levels of ability, from grassroots to elite. The disciplines include dressage, showing, polo, eventing, show jumping, endurance, hunting and horseball.
DAINTYDAVEY - ridden by Rachel Dorrell
17-year-old gelding by Turtle Island, formerly trained by Philip York Breeder – Lillian Mahon
Rachel Dorrell bought Daintydavey in 2013 to ride him in point to points. He won two points for her before being retired in 2014. Since then, the pair have gone on to compete successfully in a range of different disciplines. They have won numerous RoR classes & leagues, both regionally and nationally, including winning the British Show Jumping Club & RoR League. Currently, they predominantly compete in dressage but enjoy doing hunter trials too.
EVER SO MUCH – ridden by Alice Kent
13-year-old gelding by Westerner, formerly trained by Ben Haslam Breeder – Mrs Noreen McManus Alice Kent rode Ever So Much at home for most of his long racing career and cried many tears of pride over his fifteen victories in the colours of owner JP McManus, many gained with his favourite jockey Richie McLernon. Alice was over the moon to be able to offer him a home after racing. She says he is a legend to be around and their primary focus is on having a wonderful time. The plan is to do some eventing as well as have a few trips into the show ring, along with plenty of hunting. Alice says: “He is simply the nicest person in the world, and I’m honoured to look after him.”
FASTNET PRINCE – ridden by Carly Renaut
9-year-old gelding by Fastnet Rock, formerly trained by Philip York Breeder – Rockhard Trading Ltd Carly has owned Fastnet Prince since July 2021. He is Carly’s second former racehorse. In their short time together, they have competed in hunter trials, show jumping and arena eventing, being placed on virtually every outing and winning their first 90cm hunter trial. The pair have qualified for the hunter trial championships at 80cm and 90cm and also the British Eventing Arena Eventing Championships. When not competing, they do lots of hacking in the forest adjoining the yard, which he loves. Carly says: “I am absolutely thrilled with him and can’t wait to do more of the same.”
MEGALYPOS – ridden by Gemma Tisdall
13-year-old gelding by Limnos, formerly trained by Nicky Henderson Breeder – E A R L Ecurie Villebruyere Megalypos, known to his friends as Muzzy, came to Gemma Tisdall in 2016. Since moving to the family farm he has enjoyed a fun filled life with his pony and sheep friends. The combination have successfully evented, and show jumped at county level. Megalypos took a shine to dressage and has competed up to Elementary with placings at regional championships, finishing 6th in 2019 and 7th in 2021 at the RoR Southern Dressage Championships. Muzzy is an outstanding hunter and hunts regularly with the Coakham Bloodhounds, Old Surrey and Burstow & West Kent, and Kent & Surrey Bloodhounds and has given Gemma some memorable days out.
OUT OF THE STORM – ridden by Jo Sellars-Waymark
14-year-old mare by Elmhurst Boy, formerly trained by Simon Dow Breeder – R E Anderson Jo bought Out Of The Storm and has retrained her to show jump. She took to it straight away, even though she was bred for flat racing. She has jumped at British Show Jumping level and has qualified to jump at RoR National and Regional Championships. Crystal is her stable name and she is a true princess, hates getting wet and cold and loves nothing more than her stable. She loves her current routine, new job and her flat horse speed comes to the fore in show jumping jump offs.
SON OF PRANCEALOT – ridden by Pamela Barnes
5-year-old gelding by Sir Prancealot, formerly trained by David Evans Breeder – Tally-Ho Stud Son of Prancealot ran five times on the flat in 2019, his current owner Pamela Barnes then had the opportunity to buy him. Since May last year, he has taken to his retraining like a duck to water, he is a very easy and kind horse to work with and can be ridden by all the family. This year the plan is to get out to more dressage and start show jumping. Pamela says: “He has been an absolute gem since I bought him last year.”

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (17-22): S Dow (40 wins from 361 runners, 11%) runs NEFARIOUS TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): R Teal (3 wins from 10 runners, 30%) runs SWISS PRIDE LONGEST TRAVELLER: ALGHEED trained by M Loughnane, Kidderminster, 154 miles. RACE SUMMARY A competitive finale with the vote narrowly in favour of NEFARIOUS. He confirmed the promise of his Kempton effort when running out a good winner of a C&D handicap 8 days ago and a 2lb higher mark shouldn’t prevent a bold follow-up bid. Insomnia and Algheed head up the dangers, ahead of Radetsky. 1-2-3: 1.NEFARIOUS (IRE) 2.INSOMNIA 3.ALGHEED (IRE) KEY colours
