As the new Executive Director of Lingfield Park Resort, I am proud to welcome you all to The Winter Million Festival.
The Feature race today is the £165,000 Fleur De Lys Chase, running over two miles and six furlongs. Defending champion Two For Gold is set to battle it out once again with the fabulous Bristol De Mai. The pair, first and third last year, served up an electrifying finish and feature this time among six that have been declared.
Our thanks must go to the connections of all of this afternoon’s runners including the owners, trainers and racing staff for supporting The Winter Million meeting. Equally, to our sponsors this afternoon for their generous support and to broadcaster Sky Sports Racing.
From all of the team at Lingfield Park Racecourse, we would like to wish you all the best for this afternoon, and hope that you enjoy the racing and come back to join us again soon.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

A maximum of seven horses will go to post for the second running of the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Hurdle, although two of the declared runners have an alternate option on Saturday.
Both Nells Son and Jason The Militant are engaged in Haydock’s The New One Hurdle and at the time of writing, it is not known if racing will go-ahead at the Merseyside venue If both do travel south, conditions should be suitable, with the former – who wears first time cheek-pieces – boasting heavy-ground form figures of 211. He reverts to hurdles, having had two starts over fences this term, whilst Jason The Militant is set to make his debut for the Phil Kirby stable. Formerly a very smart dualpurpose performer when trained by Henry de Bromhead, he disappointed when last seen at Tipperary in early-October, but it is worth remembering that he was sent off favourite for the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle in 2021 and he also boasts a fine record on testing ground. When the word ‘heavy’ appeared in the description, his form figures read 211313, with that latest victory coming in Listed company on the Flat, whilst he was beaten just a half-length by Abacadabaras and Saint Roi in the 2020 Morgiana Hurdle on a similar surface.
Thibault was also engaged on Saturday, with Adam West’s 10-year-old having been declared to run at Taunton, although that meeting was abandoned on Friday afternoon. Given that he is officially rated only 124, he would look up against it here.
Both Molly Ollys Wishes and Goshen drop in trip, with Dan Skelton’s mare having been off the track since finishing last of three in Listed company at Kempton in November She will prefer the ground on this occasion and represents a stable who have enjoyed big race success on a regular basis this season.
On a line through last year’s winner of this race Brewin’upastorm, Molly Ollys Wishes has a little to find with Goshen, who didn’t appear to quite get home in the re-arranged Long Walk Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day. He had earlier beaten Brewin’upastorm in the Coral Hurdle over this sort of trip at Ascot and although he finished last of three in the inaugural running of this race, he was beaten only 1¼ lengths. Gary Moore’s stable-star is another who is right at home on testing ground, with the obvious concern being the track configuration. Much more comfortable on a right-handed track, he looked to be a very tricky ride around the home bend last year and I wonder if Jamie Moore will attempt to hug the inside rail this time, in the hope that those on his outer prevent the seven-year-old from hanging to his right. The most talented performer in the field, he wears cheekpieces for the first time Metier won the Sovereign Handicap Hurdle at this meeting last year and has since won the November Handicap on the level, but needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort in the Christmas Hurdle, whilst First Street won the Gerry Feilden on reappearance before finishing third behind stable-mate Marie’s Rock in the Relkeel Hurdle Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old has yet to face ground this testing, however, and needs to prove he can handle it.
Paul Ferguson WeatherbysTotal prize fund £100000 x Owners Prize Money. 1st £39750, 2nd £19870, 3rd £9940, 4th £4970, 5th £2480, 6th £1240. (Penalty Value £52030) A
METIER revels under these sort of conditions and is taken to bounce back from a poor run at Kempton over Christmas and win on this card for the second year running Going back left-handed is a bit of a concern for Goshen (hung right on the bends in this race a year ago) but he has leading form claims First Street is another who looks sure be involved in the finish.

Conditions will no doubt play their part in this Winter Million Festival finale but HADDEX DES OBEAUX is a chaser firmly on the up and, wisely turned out under a penalty for his Warwick romp last week, Gary Moore’s charge could well take some stopping. Fast Buck sprung a surprise when running out a wide-margin winner over C&D last month so he could prove the main danger if in the same form, with Shakem Up’arry and Red Rookie another couple worth considering back at 2m.
