Racegoers may take photographs for private use from within the enclosures. Flash photography is not permitted at any time. Press and commercial photographers may pre-arrange the necessary permission with the Racing Office at least 7 days before the race meeting. Press and official Photographer’s attention is drawn to the current BHA Instructions. Under no circumstance is any type of video recording allowed on course.

Safety

In the interests of public safety all visitors to the racecourse must follow the direction of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Raceday Staff throughout the racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL GLASSES BE ALLOWED ONTO THE GRANDSTANDS, VIEWING AREAS IN FRONT OF GRANDSTANDS OR AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE PARADE RING. RACEGOERS DISREGARDING THE REGULATION OR BEHAVING IN A DISORDERLY MANNER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE RACECOURSE.

Veterinary Care

Horse welfare is a priority at Lingfield Park. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. claims HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but HIIII Can be given little or no chance. at least one or two hold stronger

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Minimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (18-23): J & T Gosden (64 wins from 241 runners, 27%) runs ZELLIE TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): J & T Gosden (10 wins from 34 runners, 29%) runs ZELLIE LONGEST TRAVELLER: LIGHTSHIP trained by K P De Foy, QUEEN AMINATU & GOOD GRACIOUS trained by W Haggas, JULIA AUGUSTA trained by R Varian, PASTICHE trained by G Boughey, AL AGAILA trained by S & E Crisford, ZOUKY trained by P McBride, ZELLIE trained by J & T Gosden, COCO JAMBOO trained by M Bott & POTAPOVA trained by Sir M Stoute all Newmarket, 95 miles. RACE SUMMARY

NIGIRI failed to fire at Ascot last time but prior to that had looked a filly capable of winning races at this sort of level and is given another chance. Zellie’s absence since her reappearance in May is a slight worry but she’ll be a huge threat if anywhere near her best. Last year’s winner Queen Aminatu looks sure to have a say again, while Al Agaila’s excellent AW record also earns her a place on the shortlist.

RACE SUMMARY There was no obvious reason for DIVINE JEWEL’s tame display at Doncaster and, given that her profile is otherwise pretty solid, it’s probably best not to assume that it was simply a‘bad day at the office’. She was a good second in a listed contest at Chester prior to that (Greysful Storm 3 1/4 lengths adrift in fourth and 4lb worse off here) and a reproduction of that would give her every chance. Greysful Storm is taken to follow her home, with Empress Wu and Luckin Brew best of the rest. 1-2-3: 1.DIVINE JEWEL 2.GREYSFUL STORM (IRE) 3.EMPRESS WU KEY colours

The vote goes to GOLDSMITH, who went like the best horse at the weights when third over a mile here recently and the return to this trip could be the catalyst for the 4-y-o to resume winning ways. Kentucky Kingdom was too free at Wolverhampton last time, but he remains on a workable mark and will be a threat if settling better. Dynamic Talent and Shalfa are others to consider, while an on-song Sea of Charm would also be in with a shout.
