Photography

Racegoers may take photographs for private use from within the enclosures. Flash photography is not permitted at any time. Press and commercial photographers may pre-arrange the necessary permission with the Racing Office at least 7 days before the race meeting. Press and official Photographer’s attention is drawn to the current BHA Instructions. Under no circumstance is any type of video recording allowed on course.

Safety

In the interests of public safety all visitors to the racecourse must follow the direction of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Raceday Staff throughout the racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL GLASSES BE ALLOWED ONTO THE GRANDSTANDS, VIEWING AREAS IN FRONT OF GRANDSTANDS OR AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE PARADE RING. RACEGOERS DISREGARDING THE REGULATION OR BEHAVING IN A DISORDERLY MANNER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE RACECOURSE.

Veterinary Care

Horse welfare is a priority at Lingfield Park. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. claims HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but HIIII Can be given little or no chance. at least one or two hold stronger

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Minimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

Never beaten by SP Tote or Starting Price? We’ll pay whichever is better on win bets.

We’ll always pay at least SP on Win bets and if the Tote dividend is greater, we’ll pay out at that price. Tote.co.uk, Tote.ie, Tote App and selected UK racecourse customers only. Promotion applies to Tote Win and win part of each way bets on all UK & Irish races. Staking limits apply. Full terms and conditions available at Tote.co.uk/promotions. 18+. BeGambleaware.org

RACE SUMMARY

A low-key start to proceedings and provided she’s ready to roll after 11 months off, sole 4-y-o MASHAAER is strongly fancied to belatedly open her account at the expense of On The Cards, who hinted at ability when down the field at Wolverhampton recently and should be capable of better. LAURA’S BREEZE didn’t need to improve to get off the mark at Wolverhampton earlier this month and, with Morgan Cole’s 3lb more than negating a small rise in the weights, Ed Dunlop’s filly is fancied to follow up at the expense of Sixties Chic, who made a winning all-weather debut recently and may well have more to offer on synthetics. Storymaker and Purple Poppy are another couple worthy of a mention.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: HI CLARE trained by C Johnston, Middleham, 270 miles. RACE SUMMARY

TIGER BEETLE is still fairly weighted on bits of his form for his former yard and can land the hat-trick at the chief expense of Romilda, who has a wide draw to contend with but shaped most encouragingly in defeat at Wolverhampton last time. Shoot To Kill would also pose a threat if seeing out this longer trip. 1-2-3: 1.TIGER BEETLE 2.ROMILDA (FR) 3.SHOOT TO KILL (IRE) KEY colours

FOLK STAR resumed her progress when doubling her tally here 19 days ago and, with that form likely to prove strong for the grade (third already successful since), a 3lb rise may not be enough to prevent her from following up. King of Scotia is still lightly raced for his current yard and is well worth a crack at this longer trip, with Operatic Artist also feared on the back of a career best. 1-2-3: 1.FOLK STAR 2.KING OF SCOTIA (IRE) 3.OPERATIC ARTIST (IRE) KEY
