WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM

Welcome to Sedgefield Racecourse for Roflow Ladies Evening Welcome back everyone for not only our first fixture of the season but also our first fixture with full crowds for over a year. We are so pleased to see you all again. We hope you notice a few improvements since you were last here, the newly refurbished parade ring, painted offices and stands and new fences, including a new location for the Open Ditch. It looks like an exciting evening of racing ahead with southern raider Nigel Twiston-Davies and the Welsh trainer Peter Bowen coming north. Peter has constant success at Sedgefield so he is definitely one to look out for. Never discount one of our biggest supporters though, Brian Ellison has course winner Instant Replay in the 5:20pm and two other runners during the evening. I would like to thank our sponsors this evening, thank you for returning to support us in what has been a crazy time for all. Our next race meeting is 2nd Sept. Gates open 11:30am, 1st race 1:15pm. As always, I wish you all the very best in picking a few winners and I look forward to welcoming you back to Sedgefield Racecourse again soon. Enjoy and good luck. Emma White General Manager

Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

Runswick Days won The Santander In Memory of Robert Forster Handicap Steeple Chase at Sedgefield on Tuesday 11th November 2014.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

RACE SUMMARY

A competitive affair despite the small field and it may pay to take a chance on chase debutant SUPREME YEATS. Runner-up on his sole start in points, he progressed steadily over hurdles earlier this year without looking the finished article and there is mileage in him from this sort of mark. Montanna is feared most, ahead of Palixandre.
