WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM
Welcome to Sedgefield Racecourse for 3rd December meeting. Welcome back to Sedgefield to our Christmas Jumper Mansionbet race day. Cilluirid returns in the 2:50pm for Tim Easterby, ridden by Jamie Hamilton. He has won his last two starts at Sedgefield so he is hard to ignore. In form southern trainer, Milton Harris, makes the long journey north again with two runners. He has enjoyed success here at Sedgefield this season and is back to try again. Local trainer and huge Sedgy supporter Micky Hammond is mob handed with 6 runners. Listed winner Desaray Girl drops in grade and should go very close despite the weight, while Getaway Jewel is looking to go one better than last time and is reunited with top female northern jockey Becky Smith. We have 7 races today. Don’t forget to book your Boxing Day tickets online, it’s a cracking family tradition not to be missed and tickets are selling fast. I would like to thank our sponsors this afternoon, thank you for returning to support us in what has been a crazy time for all. Our next race meeting is on Boxing Day. Gates open 9:45am, 1st race 11:45am. As always, I wish you all the very best in picking a few winners and I look forward to welcoming you back to Sedgefield Racecourse again soon. Enjoy and good luck.

Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
Runswick Days won The Santander In Memory of Robert Forster Handicap Steeple Chase at Sedgefield on Tuesday 11th November 2014.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

RACE SUMMARY
This looks competitive for the level but CILLUIRID had a lot in hand when taking his course chase record to 3-3 last time and might be capable of defying the handicapper again. The Mighty Arc won nicely on his Worcester chase bow and rates an obvious danger. Bavington Bob is an interesting newcomer to fences under Brian Hughes, while Sounds Russian is also open to progress back up in trip.
