Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
Runswick Days won The Santander In Memory of Robert Forster Handicap Steeple Chase at Sedgefield on Tuesday 11th November 2014.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

GOLD MINER has shown a fair level of form in 4 starts over hurdles and the addition of cheekpieces can help him get off the mark. Having had 14 months off prior to this season, the 9-y-o can step up again to see off the challenge of Haas Boy, who has more to offer up in trip but has a penalty to carry for his Huntingdon success. EQUINE POLICY The safety of horse and rider is of paramount importance to Sedgefield Racecourse. We have a team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a top of the range horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. It is policy at this racecourse for screens to be erected when a horse requires veterinary treatment on the track. This is to offer some privacy and calm for both horse and vet and does not automatically imply that a fatality has occurred.

COOL COUNTRY has got back on track on his last 2 starts and can continue his good run of form. The 7-y-o went with zest switched to front-running tactics when opening his account here last month, so the drop back in trip could suit with cheekpieces back on and he can follow up. Fulgurix is feared most if taking his chance having been engaged to run at Taunton on Thursday, while Myburg could fare best of the chase debutants for Sue Smith.

RACE SUMMARY
An open-looking contest but ONESTEPATATIME is taken to open her account under Rules. The 7-y-o was a big eye-catcher when trying to come from last to first in a slowly-run race at Wetherby 8 days ago and she can quickly go one bettter. Cresswell Queen heads the list of dangers following her success over C&D last time, while Dequall has been running well of late and could be suited by this longer trip over hurdles.
