LORD CAPRIO posted a couple of solid efforts at Hexham back in the spring, despite not being seen to best effect, and has since added to his tally on the Flat, so he’s an appealing candidate. STANLEY&LILLIANTHOMPSON MEMORIALRACE

My brother, Howard, and I are grateful to Sedgefield Racecourse for hosting a memorial race commemorating our parents, Stanley & Lillian Thompson, who introduced both of us into the world of horses and racing from a very early age. So they are to blame!!

Stanley, who was born in Hartlepool, was a Flight Sergeant in the Pathfinders during WWII. He was a top athlete who ran at the White City and founded the family steel firm, S M Thompson Ltd.

Lillian, who was brought up in Norton, was a Telegram Girl during the war; she helped the local community so much that she became Deputy Mayor of Teeside, Head of Education and Governor of a number of local schools. We are so proud of them.
