Brian Barrass General Manager
The racing world was shocked to hear of the passing of Jack De Bromhead at the weekend following a tragic accident at Glenbeigh races. Jack De Bromhead, 13 years old unfortunately lost his life, our thoughts are with his family and friends
We have also been host to a number of events throughout the summer including the Geocaching “National mega event” and also the Goldwing Owners Club of Great Britain “40th Anniversary Treffen” which saw over 500 Honda Goldwing motorcycles ascend on Uttoxeter from the UK and 11 European countries. These events are always great to be part of and they also play such an important part in the local economy with many hotels and restaurants booked up over these weekends. We race again next Tuesday where we will be operating one enclosure with all tickets available at a special price of £12 in advance and a £15 on the gate I hope to see you all again next week for another fabulous day’s racing.
Good Luck to everyone today!
It has just been over 5 weeks since our last meeting which was the Burton Albion Community Trust Family Funday. The day was a great success for BACT who managed to raise over £850 on the day which takes the racecourse contributions to our charity partner to nearly £4,000 for the year Thank you to all who have contributed this year
The Racecourse has spent its time away from racing to give the track a much need rest, and it also gave us a chance to undertake essential repairs and maintenance work on it. The ground staff have been busy painting all of our padded hurdles white which is a new BHA regulation which is in place to assist the horses with the visibility of the obstacles. The track has also undergone some drainage works as part of our continuous improvement schedule alongside improvements to the stable yard by rubberizing the walkways
UTTOXETER RACECOURSE is part of Arena Racing Company which includes; Bath, Brighton, Chepstow Doncaster Ffos Las, Fontwell Park, Great Yarmouth, Hereford, Lingfield Park, Newcastle, Royal Windsor, Sedgefield, Southwell, Wolverhampton and Worcester racecourses; and Newcastle and Sunderland Greyhound Stadiums.
Welcome back to Uttoxeter Racecourse after our Summer break and a particularly warm welcome today to our sponsors, Quinnbet, HomeServe, Cazoo and Stans Superstore I would also like to wish a very happy 70th Birthday to Andrew Faulks from Stans Superstore.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances) The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
