Welcome to our 2023 Ladies Day and a very special welcome today to our sponsors, St Modwen Homes, Brit Direct, Low Cost Roofing Stoke, Rob & Jo Finnigan and The Bridal Rooms Uttoxeter.
As ever, this afternoon, we will be running our very popular ‘Style Awards’ which has been kindly sponsored by The Bridal Rooms Uttoxeter. The Bridal Rooms is a wedding gown boutique located in Uttoxeter. Company owner and bridal stylist Gayle Carr-Willis took ownership of this business in 2017 and has handpicked her elite team of professional stylists She and her team aim to assist you in saying yes to your dream dress. The Style Awards has prizes for the top 5 outfits picked out by our judges. Head up to the flower wall near the office to enter for a chance to get your hands on one of our many prizes including the first prize of £500 plus a table for 2 at our Winters Ladies Day on Friday 20th October.
After racing head down to the Grandstand to watch a 90-minute show from our entertainment this evening, Classic Decks. Classic Decks brings together an esteemed collection of the world’s greatest disco tracks. Reimagined and reinvented to be performed live on stage. The set includes classically trained musicians, sensational singers, and industry-leading DJ’s As well as energetic choreographed professional dancers and disco anthems with a unique classical twist. I am sure you will love it!
We quickly turn around this fixture for our next meeting on Sunday which is our ever-popular Burton Albion Family Funday. There will be lots of entertainment for the family including a fairground, inflatables, crazy golf and some good old fashioned British entertainment. With Children under 18 having free admission, it really is a great value family day out.
Sunday also marks the end of our busy summer racing calendar, where the team and I get a short break to gather our breath and take a little holiday However, we do return earlier than normal this year with an additional fixture on Wednesday evening 30th August. Tickets in advance are available from just £10.
We hope to see you return soon, have a safe and enjoyable evening.

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
ëëëëë Selected to win the race
ëëëëê Good chance of being placed
ëëëêê By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
ëëêêê Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
ëêêêê Can be given little or no chance
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances) The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
