Official Raceday Programme | £3.50 ROYAL WINDSOR RACECOURSE RACE WEEK 4 Thursday 1 September 2022 racing league 7 Teams, 6 Fixtures, 1 Champion

Team Scotland Team London & The South Team Wales & The West Team The East Team Yorkshire Team The North Team Ireland racing league

At the halfway stage, London and the South, managed by ITV and Sky Sports Racing presenter Matt Chapman, are leading by just one point from Wales and The West, under the guidance of former jump jockey and current trainer Jamie Osborne. The latter closed the gap significantly on their big rivals a week ago at Newcastle and either could end up on top at the end of racing tonight

With The East (3rd), Yorkshire (4th), The North (5th), Scotland (6th) and Ireland (7th) also out to record as many points as they can in an attempt to catch the two leaders, competition on the track is sure to be strong, with every place counting towards the final total The remaining two legs are at Southwell next Thursday and Newcastle again on 15 September. As we reach the end of another memorable summer of racing here at Royal Windsor, it’s a good time to remind you that we still have three more meetings to come on the 3rd, 10th and 17th October, all on Monday afternoons. General admission for the season finale will be complimentary if booked in advance on our website windsor-racecourse.co,uk

WELCOME

Welcome to a special evening of entertainment at Royal Windsor Racecourse as we host the fourth week of this year’s Racing League an innovative competition between seven regional teams with points awarded for their finishing positions in each of the seven races.

As has been the case for all of our fixtures this year, a wide variety of packages is available online for all three dates, including a three-course meal in the stylish 1866 Restaurant, where you can place a bet and enjoy a panoramic view of the racecourse from the luxury of your own table for the day. In the meantime, I do hope you enjoy the action this evening as Matt Chapman’s trainers and jockeys try to maintain their lead at the top of the Racing League table. There’s sure to be plenty of fun and banter whatever the state of play by the end of the final race!

Best Wishes Liam Johnson Executive Director

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown brackets following the rating.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The manager will announce his intention to play a Joker in the Paddock, directly before the selected race This will be done by placing a Joker token alongside the team name on the scoreboard in the Paddock.

When played, the Joker will double the points won by the two horses representing a team in a given race.

A new innovation in Racing League 2022 will see each of the managers of the seven competing teams having the opportunity to play a Joker on any two of the 42 races.
