WELCOME
Welcome to the second of three meetings at Royal Windsor Racecourse during the month of October, and the penultimate day of our 2022 season After a busy eight-race card last Monday, the groundstaff have done an expert job repairing and preparing the track for the action this afternoon.
As always at this time of year, the racing today is highly competitive, with trainers aiming to find a final chance or two for their horses before the end of the turf season next month. We are therefore looking forward to an exciting mix of well-contested handicaps and races for lightly-raced younger horses who could improve significantly during the winter in time for the new campaign in the spring.
The 2023 Royal Windsor fixture list is now available and we are planning a typically varied programme of events including the ever-popular Monday evening race meetings which form the centrepiece of the summer season. In addition, we will again be staging the three-day Midsummer Festival (from 1-3 July), with the season opener starting things off on Monday 17 April.
In the meantime, please“Remember, Remember”to book your tickets online for our spectacular Firework Night display on Saturday 5 November. This year’s theme is Wizards and Witches, and the rockets and Roman candles will be accompanied by a funfair plus plenty of good things to eat and drink to make it a memorable evening for the whole family The gates will open at 4pm.
Racing takes place here again next Monday afternoon, which is our Season Finale, and we are offering complimentary general admission to round off the year in style with a bumper attendance. You can be part of the big day by visiting our website windsor-racecourse.co.uk, which also has details of some additional raceday packages including special meal deals and arrival at the racecourse by riverboat from Windsor town centre.
I would like to thank you, as well as all the racehorse owners and racing professionals, for supporting us so generously during the past six months As we move further into the autumn, the 2022 season will leave us with so many happy memories of long warm sunny days here on the banks of the River Thames, and I hope you will be able to join us again one more time next Monday before we head into winter quarters to finalise our plans for the New Year.
Best Wishes Liam Johnson Executive Director

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

LEADING
A very open handicap so at the likely odds it is worth siding with SALIGO BAY, who has been in winning form over hurdles for Gary Moore and can now make a successful start in this sphere for his in-form handler C&D second Lebsayer arrives with better days ahead of him and is a big threat, while both Andaleep and Beautiful Crown are weighted to have a say too.
