WELCOME
Afternoon All,
Welcome to the final meeting of 2022 at Royal Windsor, with the curtain coming down on an enjoyable season with a competitive autumn card featuring plenty of runners. I’m delighted that so many of you have been able to take up our offer of free general admission for a varied programme including some well-contested handicaps, a race for amateur riders and an opportunity for trainers to run their less experienced horses on grass before the end of the turf campaign.
Tickets are now on sale for our spectacular Firework Night display on Saturday 5 November This year our theme is Wizards and Witches, so please grab your broomsticks and prepare to join us for this colourful family evening at the racecourse. Stalls will be offering some scarily delicious things to eat and drink, and there will be a special Wizard Show and a unique chance to see the Grand Hall, Platform 9 3/4 and Under the Stairs.
When the gates open at 4pm, head straight to the funfair for some thrilling rides suitable for all ages including the Dodgems, King Sizzler, Avengers, Trooper XI, Star Flyer and Crazy Caterpillar At 7.45pm the pyrotechnics team will light the touch paper and unleash the 15-minute firework fiesta set to our specially themed soundtrack.
You can arrange your place at the spooky evening’s events on our website windsor-racecourse.co.uk including the option to reserve a table in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant and arrival by riverboat from Windsor town centre. There are special discounts for advance bookings, so make sure that you’re part of what’s sure to be a memorable night out with your family and friends
The 2023 Royal Windsor fixture list is now available, with the traditional Monday evening race meetings forming the centrepiece of the summer season. The popular three-day Midsummer Festival will begin on the afternoon of Saturday 1 July and continue through Sunday until the Monday evening. On many days there will be a special theme to give each race meeting a distinctive atmosphere, often with live music on the lawn after racing.
Today is the day when we will reveal the top trainer and jockey at Royal Windsor during the past six months. I would like to thank the racing professionals, and all of you as racegoers, for supporting us since our first fixture way back in the spring As our racing schedule heads into its winter break we are already looking forward to welcoming you back on Monday 17 April 2023.
Best Wishes

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

A few with chances but FODEN remains with potential and looks the way to go able to race off the same mark as when a good recent third over C&D. Frantanck should benefit from this drop back in trip so William Haggas’ lightly-raced colt is feared most, with the handily-weighted My Mate Ted and in-form Devasboy shortlisted too.

PLATINUM PRINCE has enjoyed a productive campaign and still looked at the top of his game when third in a race that didn’t play to his strengths at Nottingham last time. With a fully-fledged rider back on board, he’s a confident choice to resume winning ways, with Alyara regarded as the chief threat.
