WELCOME
Dear All,
Welcome to the first of four Family Fundays during 2023 at Royal Windsora popular theme for Bank Holidays at the racecourse in recent years
It’s a perfect way of introducing younger members of the family to what goes on during a day at the races.
Throughout the afternoon, you’re welcome to head to the parade ring on the paddock lawn to see the runners before the races and then applaud them into the winner’s enclosure afterwards. In addition, there are also dedicated entertainments for the youngsters including a funfair and treasure hunt.
The three remaining Family Funday afternoons at Royal Windsor are on 29 May (another Bank Holiday Monday), plus two Sundays - 2 July and 13 August But if you plan to return on any other occasion, please remember that anyone aged 17 or under, accompanied by an adult, is also admitted free to the racecourse for most of our race meetings.
Next Monday is a special one-off Bank Holiday to mark the coronation of King Charles III, our first evening fixture of the year which to enjoy the national celebrations. This has proved to be so popular that no free tickets are left, but upgrades are available for those already booked, including tables in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant and arrival by riverboat from the town centre
These packages can be reserved on our website, windsor-racecourse.co.uk, along with multiple options for all of our dates during the rest of the summer. You will also find information about them in our racecard today, with our Monday music nights during June, July and August among the many highlights.
As we say hello to racegoers of all ages this afternoon, we hope that you will enjoy the colour and excitement of our pretty racecourse on the banks of the River Thames Moreover, we look forward to a new generation of racegoers being inspired by what you see today, and that you will be able to join us again soon.
Best Wishes

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Though GRAHAM failed to pull up any trees in 3 starts at the backend of last year, it’s likely that he will be seen in an altogether better light now handicapping off a lowly opening mark.
