WELCOME
Dear All,
Following the first qualifier in Royal Windsor’s annual Fitzdares Sprint Series last Monday, today’s second leg will provide us with more clues as to which horses will make it through to the final in August
A week ago, in a heat specfically for fillies, the 5-1 winner Miss Bella Brand held on in a close finish to win by a neck It would be no surprise to see another similarly tight contest, with a competitive field set to line up over the six furlong track.
There was an impressive entry of 40 for this evening’s Darley EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, with the quality of the runners matching the quantity. A number of top stables are represented, so we can expect some high-class late-developers to be involved at the finish.
Looking further ahead, on our website windsor-racecourse.co.uk there are details of all our remaining meetings this year, including the post-racing concerts that have become a popular feature of our Monday night fixtures from the beginning of June onwards.
Tickets may be purchased online, with savings available for early bookings You can also arrange special packages such as an evening at your own table in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant or a riverboat journey to the racecourse from the town centrearguably the most picturesque way to arrive at a racecourse anywhere in the country!
Next Monday afternoon we stage our second Family Funday of the year, with a variety of sideshows and activities in addition to a typical programme of exciting horse racing We hope you will be able to join us again then, as we introduce the delights of a day at the races to a new generation of racegoers
Best wishes

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

BITS AND BOBS looks the most interesting newcomer in a race where the couple with experience don’t set a high bar. Cherry Hill appeals on paper, also. There was some encouragement to be gleaned from Mistress Teite’s debut, but she likely needs to improve plenty to play a leading role

The most appealing of these is HAYMAKER, who resumed with a good effort off this mark in a big-field contest at Newbury last month. He is entitled to come on for that run (first outing following a 7-month break) and forecast quicker ground here is another positive factor.
