Star Ratings Explained
Each horse is given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race HHHHI Good chance of being placed HHHII By no means without a chance
HHIII At least one or two hold stronger claims HIIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope IIIII Can be given little or no chance
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE SUMMARY
A competitive nursery to open the card and ADAAYINYOURLIFE makes most appeal. He was only just denied on handicap debut at Kempton last week and he should be able to progress to go one better today. King of The Kippax looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind and he could be a danger. On The River is consistent and in form so can’t be ruled out either. 1-2-3: 1.ADAAYINOURLIFE 2.KING OF THE KIPPAX (IRE) 3.ON THE RIVER KEY colours

LONGEST TRAVELLER: JOHN JASPER trained by D O’Meara, Upper Helmsley, 155 miles. RACE SUMMARY ROMAN MIST is a very progressive filly and she should be difficult to beat in her search for the hat-trick. Penalised for a decisive Ffos Las win last week, she should prove too good for her rivals. Asdaa likes it at Wolverhampton and he’ll be a danger if in the form he was when winning here last month. This is a very uncompetitive basement affair and THE TRON has a golden opportunity to shed his maiden tag. He’s ran creditably in defeat twice here this month and stepping up a furlong, he should be able to get the job done tonight. Royal Guard has some form which would see him take a hand.
