Proud Champions of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme All of our member racecourses participate in the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme, a nationwide initiative for those with disabilities that may not be visible. A sunflower lanyard discretely signals to staff that the person wearing the lanyard may need additional support or a little more time when attending racedays. Guests are welcome to bring their own lanyards or to register in advance by contacting the racecourse they’ll be attending. Sunflower lanyards can also be collected at certain entrance points. If you would like more information, please ask a member of staff.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse is given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race HHHHI Good chance of being placed HHHII By no means without a chance

HHIII At least one or two hold stronger claims HIIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope IIIII Can be given little or no chance

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (16-21): M Loughnane (48 wins from 560 runners, 9%) runs RUBY RIBBONS AND WELL PREPARED

TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): B Ellison (4 wins from 18 runners, 22%) runs HOOFLEPUFF LONGEST TRAVELLER: HOOFLEPUFF trained by B Ellison, Malton, 145 miles.

RACE SUMMARY Everything panned out smoothly for HOOFLEPUFF when returning to winning ways here 12 days ago, but he retains plenty of handicapping scope based on old form, so a 3lb rise may not be enough to stop the follow up. Must Be An Angel is respected on the pick of her form this season setting out for a new yard, while Pop Favorite could easily bounce back from a below-par run at Lingfield. 1-2-3: 1.HOOFLEPUFF (IRE) 2.MUST BE AN ANGEL (IRE) 3.POP FAVORITE KEY colours

MOTORIOUS had plenty left in the tank when making a winning handicap debut at Kempton and, with further progress likely, this 8lb higher mark looks manageable.
