One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy Please do not assume the worst

LONGEST TRAVELLER: MELLYS FLYER trained by C Wallis, Ardleigh, 177 miles.

HOW IMPRESSIVE looked well served by the drop back to sprinting when opening his account on turf at Yarmouth 17 days ago and, from a handy draw, he could be worth siding with to follow up with his rider’s claim off-setting his rise in the weights. Fifty Year Storm is less exposed than most and arrives in form, so she’s feared, along with The Princes Poet Mokaatil is another to monitor lurking on a very handy mark.

VETERINARY CARE

Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst
