Veterinary Care
Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

A wide-open nursery to kick off with the narrow vote in favour of GREEN SIGMA. Not without promise in a trio of maiden/novice events, she’s probably best not judged too harshly on her handicap debut effort at Chelmsford 3 weeks ago. With cheekpieces now enlisted, she’s fancied to be seen in a better light. Havanarama, on the back of being gelded, Polly The Rocket and Word Play are others to consider.

MAJED has gone with some promise when in the frame on both his runs so is fancied to put his experience to good use and get off the mark at the chief expense of Hugo Palmer’s Saviour who also looks to have better days ahead of him. Newcomers Bold Style, Shaleel and Night Horn all bring potential too and need monitoring in the betting in an intriguing novice.
