Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to CHARLIE’S CHOICE, who notched his third success of the year at Southwell recently and David Simcock’s 4-y-o remains firmly of interest on the back of a 5lb rise. Heading up the dangers is Tortured Soul, who confirmed his return to form when runner-up at Kempton earlier this month, with Graze On Phoenix and Arazzo taken to fight out third.

WEIGHTWATCHER: AUTUMN ANGEL won off a handicap mark of 62, her rating is now down 14lb to 48. LONGEST TRAVELLER: BERNIE THE BEAR trained by Miss L Perratt, East Kilbride, 275 miles.
AUTUMN ANGEL went down fighting when beaten 3/4-length by Mashaan over 7f here on Boxing Day and, with this drop back in trip unlikely to be an issue, the scales may well tilt in her favour this time, given that she meets the winner on 5lb better terms. Savalas was successful over C&D on his latest start and he is third choice ahead of another C&D scorer in Bernie The Bear

WEIGHTWATCHER: COACHELLO won off a handicap mark of 104, his rating is now down 12lb to 92. LONGEST TRAVELLER: AIRMAN trained by R Fahey, Malton, 145 miles.
COACHELLO is of strong interest returned to the all-weather on an appealing mark and he shades preference ahead of Dyrholaey, who has been absent since finishing down the field in a Royal Ascot handicap in June but he was 3-3 (all on the all-weather) prior to that and probably remains with potential. It will be interesting to see how Filly One, who was unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile, gets on now handicapping following a 12-month absence.

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today.
