Where will I study?

This full-time course will be taught three days per week over one year at your local centre. You can also study on a part-time basis over two years.

What qualifications do I need to enrol on this course? Potential students should have attained one relevant Higher (minimum C pass), or a relevant NC qualification totalling at least 12 credits (such as NC Digital Media Computing). Mature students will be considered based on interview and on relevant work experience.

Will I receive a recognised qualification? Yes, upon completing the course you will receive a recognised qualification at Higher National Certificate level.

What can I do on completion of my course? After successfully completing the course you will be able to progress to HND Information Technology or BSc Computing.

The course will introduce the following mandatory units • Information Technology in Business – Databases • Information Technology in Business – Spreadsheets • Working within a Project Team • Software Development: Applications Development • Database Design Fundamentals • PC: First Line Support • Information Technology – Group Award Graded Unit 1 You will also be able study further in a range of optional units which may interest you specifically including: Computer Operating Systems, E- Commerce, SQL and Supporting Users and Trouble Shooting Desktop Applications.
