Why should I consider a Towards a Career in Childcare course?
Do you want to learn the basic childcare skills required to work within the nursery and preschool environments? Do you want to lay the foundations to embark on a career in childcare? Do you want to work towards a recognised professional qualification which will enable you to study further at NC or SVQ level and beyond? If yes, then Towards a Career in Childcare is the right course for you. Taught full-time, this course is suitable for both school leavers and more mature students wishing to return to learning or looking to change career direction. The course is designed to equip you with the the qualifications required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) The course will be very practical in nature and will provide students with placements which will allow them to gain hands-on experience in the workplace.

What qualifications do I need to enrol on this course?
You do not need any specific qualifications to enrol on this course, but students must be 16 years of age or over.
How can I continue to develop my childcare skills? A natural next step for those students who wish to develop their skills further would be NC Early Education and Childcare or SVQ2 Children’s Care, Learning and Development.
