PEOPLE IN ARCHITECTURE
PEOPLE IN ARCHITECTURE Construction is a serious business. Buildings form us, and we form them. As we see it, buildings are more than simply “machines for living in. Buildings are living organisms that promote human activity. In our architectonic work, we focus primarily on three aspects: Building Sustainable, Building Customised, and Building Smart.

BUILDING SUSTAINABLE

ARKITEMA ARCHITECTS
Arkitema believes in sustainability – and not just as a glib slogan taken up as a result of media coverage and circumstances. We have been working with sustainability as a central precept since our drawing office was founded in 1969, and we continue to develop and learn within this area. Today, we have no problems with designing both competitively-priced and sustainable buildings. Our aim is for these two concepts to merge in the future, sustainability becoming an integral feature of every architectural project. We call this “Building Sustainable”.

BUILDING CUSTOMISED
6
|
ARKITEMA ARCHITECTS
We believe that the best architecture is created by involving the people who will be living and working in the final result. Here, we do not mean asking the future users to complete a questionnaire so that we can “involve” them as passive participants. Rather, we devote time to studying their behaviour and the needs they express through their everyday activities – and then apply our aesthetic and anthropological processes to create solutions to issues of which users are perhaps not even aware. We call this “Building Customised”.

BUILDING SMART

|
ARKITEMA ARCHITECTS
We at Arkitema believe that technological development and the major paradigm shift made possible by 3D planning constitute a paradigm shift on a par with the discovery of central perspective back in the 15th century. We actively cultivate innovation as a central process in all our projects, and we expect that technological development in construction – along with globalisation – will lead to completely new types of buildings in the 21st century; buildings we are looking forward to designing. We call this “Building Smart”.

We create unique architecture. Because we have extensive experience in user involvement. Because we have the very latest knowledge in the field of sustainable construction. Because we believe in 3D technology. Because our drawing office is the seat of a great deal of knowledge about architecture, design and landscaping. Because we are based locally in Aarhus and Copenhagen, Denmark, and globally deployed in Stockholm, Sweden, and Beijing, China. Because we assure a professional, stable and innovative process during the sketching and project planning phases. Because we have broad experience of financial project management; and because we are inquisitive, innovative, experienced and empathic.
