JARI JÄRNSTRÖM Jari Järnström (b. 1960) is a visual artists, a painter. He has graduated with Master of Fine Arts from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts 2003. He lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. Järnström starts his work by painting the background with acrylic colors in an abstract expressionist way using the style of Action Painting, where the paint can run and spread freely. Action Painting is a style of painting which started in about 1950s and was predominant style until the 1960s. It is often connected to the Abstract Expressionism. Instead of adding the paint onto the canvas with careful brush strokes, in Action Painting the paint is splashed and added spontaneously in various ways. After the background is done, the work continues with oil colors. This is the point when especially the influences from Neo-figurative art arises. The Figurative art is based on representational art and therefore based on representation of the objects and humans. The most central topics for Järnström's paintings have for long been people, particularly man. www.kuvataiteilijamatrikkeli.fi/fi/taiteilijat/1834 jari.jarnstrom@welho.com

KAJ STENVALL www.kajstenvall.com kaj.stenvall@kajstenvall.com Since late 80’s Kaj Stenvall has been one of the most important and probably the most beloved contemporary artist in Finland. His exhibitions are constantly hits in Finnish art scene and his paintings are tempting to the galleries not only established art lovers but also people who usually despise contemporary art. His prominent main figure, a duck symbol remotely resembling Disney’s ducks, comments financial crisis and global economical turmoil as well as several religious issues which have been essential in Stenvall’s art since 1980’s.

I’m an artist from Stockholm, Sweden. Educated in Gothenburg and Oslo, Norway. I have participated in several exhibitions in Sweden and abroad. I paint mostly in oil, but I also use watercolor and drawing. Through my images I communicate my inner thoughts. The natural meets the abstract, and the light trickles through a curtain of darkness. I work with layers of paint in order to create various shades of lightness and darkness, to communicate a certain feeling to the observer. “In every moment there’s something worth keeping. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes we need to make an effort to look past things that obscure our vision.”

BO ALSTRÖM boalstrom@hotmail.com Bo Alström is a history painter, a uniquely modern representative of an age-old tradition. At the same time, he is a philosophical and profoundly intuitive modern artist. He empathizes with the experiences of people in distant times and places while maintaining a highly-calibrated sensitivity to color, form, and composition. Alström’s curiosity about human character and motivation, about past events, and about the world in which he lives finds expression in exhilerating images where abstraction and representation and description and imagination collide, interact, and harmonize.

AMIR ZAINORIN www.amirzainorin.dk amirszainorin@gmail.com Amir Zainorin is a multi disciplinary Malaysian artist based in Copenhagen Denmark. His work is wide range in terms of medium and content from global capital, the art world, celebrity culture, inclusion/exclusion, politics and post-colonialism. His installation work involved things from found objects or things that he collected from the street. His performance work includes durational performance, social interaction and text in public spaces. He draws on a range of issues regarding the politics of immigration, the language that has come to define the “other” and Malaysian cultural tradition. Through his work a participatory dialogue forms between the artist and his audience, which leads to a rupturing of conventional notions of subject formation and exclusionary politics. Amir’s work are collected by private art collectors and museums among other The National Art Gallery Malaysia, The National Portrait Gallery Malaysia and The Immigrant Museum Denmark. This paper–cutouts series of Amir Zainorin’s ’Who’s Who’ - football players series’ addresses issue on identity. The images from the cut outs are world famous footballers taken from the intenet. They are very simple and minimal in execution where the depth of positive and negative space are interplayed with one another. This interactive work invite the audience to guess who is the person behind the work. This was made possible because of the faceless image due to the cut-outs made by Amir. At the same time the audience will be able able to see reflections of themselves due to the mirror that have been placed behind the image.

Who’s who II – the footbal players series 29 x 21 cm Papercuts and inkjet print 2014 Amir Zainorin é um artista multidisciplinar. 29

CESAR COELHO GOMES www.cesarcoelho.com.br coelhogomes.cesar@gmail.com I use the painting as a field, as an ambience, to let the constant relationship between what I consciously capture from the world and what springs from my unconscious flow. I hope, as a result, to ask questions, to express my astonishment and my delight and, if possible, to produce beauty. The human figure has always been a fertile ground for me to explore the diversity of life, in which each face is a mystery, a possible reflection of myself. And these faces are present in a football match. There is anger, fear, anxiety, joy, pleasure, frustration. In the ‘green arena’ players of all ethnic groups, with unique physical types, temperaments and life stories, update and amplify, ‘in the heat of the fight’, the universal and perennial human feelings. The heart beating faster to take the field, the pleasure of a great assist, the expectation of the crowd carried on the shoulders, or feet, the crowning glory of a goal or the inexpressible frustration of a defeat. That is, today, the privileged field of my pictorial research.

EDA MIRANDA edamir@globo.com Eda Miranda, lives and work in Niter贸i, R. Janeiro, Brazil. My art works are reflections on the biomedical field, which refer to the body and, in some moments, with subtle erotic connotations. It is a work which leads us to walk into the inner landscape of the body. The creative process begins with the predominance of very free emotions, which makes use of stains, one moment with dense materials, the next with watery paints. In the following phase, icons and symbols inherent in biology are introduced, simulating organs, organic defense mechanisms. My paintings lie in the boundary between abstraction and figuration. From this moment on, we find ourselves faced with the ambiguity of a painting which is simultaneously abstract and figurative, a new perspective for a twice as rich experience is open, once it is processed in the specific and limited universe of painting, and, at the same time, it leads us to reflect on the richness of the human being, with all its magic and beauty.

CARMEN THOMPSON The artist Carmen Thompson lives in Rio de Janeiro where she investigates a variety of materials for the production of masks, sculptures, paintings, watercolors and drawings. Since 2008, she has experimented with etching, where she interferes subtly in the process of printing and through the use of color, in search for an alchemic opulence. Born in Minas Gerais, by the time she was 10 she was already living in Rio de Janeiro and had started her classical ballet studies. Later she has attended modern and contemporary dance courses. The artist arms herself with her dancing experience as an instrument of her action, in the space and on the paper. She opens the eye to possibility, unique and unexpected, at the same time continuous like the movement and poetic like a drawing. For this Set/2014 exhibition in New York, the artist will show her new phase of works, whereby she handles photography as a starting point for development leading to a creative work on the captured images using digital art resources.

VERA PAVANELLI Rare or even a few, are the artists that nowadays uses encaustic as a painting process, which had its splendor in ancient greece. It is noteworthy that the word itself comes from the Greek classic and means melt or peint with fire. The Brazilian artist Vera Pavanelli uses modern electric instruments and beeswax and devote her surveys to reactivate and promote the rebirth of this technique that allows artists to rediscover the refined effects of this painting technique and prove the endurance of this works. TEREZA VIANNA tevianna17@gmail.com We are living a new and complex moment of connections in the real, the imaginary world – sharing life, art, dreams and fulfillments ...together on the Blue Planet. I was thinking about this while I was sketching. I thought about our searches, tried to express myself in a free and lucid form with these series of work presented here. Dots, dashes, lines in movement, sketches, mandalas, symbols – personal and universal graphics. Graffiti plays with us... I imagine it brings out the child that lives in us. While eliminating the excesses, remain the suggestive earthy tint and the primary colors that ease and smoothen the images to our eyes. And for this moment I want to simplify everything, searching for a priority, a formula, to reach our essence, love, a shining of a light, that even on paper illuminates and enlightens us, explains us by feeling and seeing it. How nice would it be if words were not necessary - if paintings and drawings themselves could tell any admirer their stories, their secrets, their magic. As if they were like portals inviting each admirer to transforming and exclusive journeys, love and gratitude. Tereza Vianna
No planeta azul. Pensava sobre isso enquanto desenhava.Pensava sobre nossas buscas. Tentando me expressar de forma livre e lúdica nessa série de desenhos aqui apresentados. Pontos, riscos, linhas em movimento,rabiscos,símbolos- grafismos pessoais e universais.

DANIELE BLORIS danieleab@tjrj.jus.br DANIELE BLORIS AND HER LIFELINE DRAWINGS By Orlando Rafael dos Santos* “...the person who attends all around has an endles speech” PROVERBS 21. 28 Where does one line must has its end? Which are the limits in a surface of a sheet or in a canvas? Many of us are constantly faced by questions like these, especially when we find ourselves in the construction or in a creative appreciation of some impressive artworks as some bidimensional drawings, abstract ones. It seems as our entire life, with its meanings and all that matters is like a big tangle with all its crossing lines revealing details of the living drama… each and every moment with its own suitable facts within… A single line… as a single breath in a single life. A single unfinished (?...) line, self done while the life is on. A lifeline, as the cord that got to be cut for the very start of all personal life. It brings us the quiz: "Where does a line must has its end?" There are no answers good enough and this is our stuff for being alive. These questions and many others lay upon the artwork of Daniele Bloris, beautifully expressed by her amazing drawings, these truly sketches of a unique lifeline. After them I realize that something has changed deep inside. So, I face my own lifelines… as in a mirror. And I wish that many people can feel the same. That´s what Daniele Bloris drawings are for. Nov 2010 / Aug 2014 *Orlando Rafael dos Santos (Rio, 1950) is a contemporary Brazilian artist with studies in Theology, Philosophy and in Education by Art. ORS lives and works in Rio.

DALVA LUCCHESI PAINTING symphonies ... VILLA-LOBOS Art !!!!! How to think about painting a picture, if not sharpen all our senses. My works have a color or black and white story... The Artwork is seduction, pure and immediate visual load, which can attract our attention at once. You enter her world and within it or not enchant. My homage in this project, is the music and honored the Maestro and Composer Brazilian, Heitor Villa-Lobos, considered by many a revolutionary, who broke with traditional music in Brazil and became the greatest character of modernism in the country. His source of inspiration was the Folk songs, indigenous and popular, among the most renowned works are some like: "Shango", "Trenzinho Grit", "Amazon", "Uirapuru", "crying", "Serenades", "The Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5. "Of his inspirations, more than two thousand works appeared in all genres, performed with enthusiasm in the most important rooms of recitals and concerts worldwide. The exhibition, Painting Symphonies .... Villa-Lobos, proposes a new apprehension of art that transcends the merely represented, and meets the critical purpose of viewing the actual work with an expanded meaning and his powers of speech perception. PINTANDO SINFONIAS ... VILLA-LOBOS Arte!!!!! DIRCE FETT 17th - 19th of September, 2014 Inauguration 17th of September at 6 pm International ARTS coalition 4 west 43 street, Nre York, NY, 10036 Opening hours 11 am - 6 pm
DIRCE FETT I started painting professionally at a mature age, it was when I could dedicate my time entirely to this passion. Art has always been a part of my daily life even when cooking, raising the kids or painting small secrets works. That’s when I’ve began to search for more knowledge. When I look back, I see my self playing in the garden, climbing trees that I pretend were my office and the little river that flown behind my godmother’s house. I have lived all of that, but in a way I have kept those moments to live over and over. I now live in an intense, unique and special city, surrounded with florest, ocean and a lot of sun. I love painting nature and how it interferes in my affective memory. The colors have a special meaning to my work. The cooking recipies become canvas where the colors are the main ingredients. I try mixing the most varied techniques without worrying about establishing one pattern. Vigorous trace and spontaneity are my signature.

MARLENE BLOIS Marlene Blois, painter and poet, was born and lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started her studies of painting when she was very young, and continued in the " Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage" (A Visual Arts School). She has already exhibited her works of art in individual and collective exhibitions in the country and abroad. In her present works, free from limits, she dares to deconstruct, in a certain way, with colors and strokes of brush, the hinted geometric shapes. The pure geometrism leaves its representativity in itself like a reaction or even a negation to the excess of rationalism it could take. The color is the element with marked presence in all her works of art, because she feels it enigmatic, impossible to be rationalized. With textures, spots and marked brush strokes, the colors assume an expressive symbolic dimension. As a poet and painter, she created the "Quadremes", a new space where Poetry and Painting are materialized. She tries with her esthetic perception to capture the ambiguity of the world and, with her poetic sensibility and the dramatization of art, to discover new meanings for whatever she sees, feels, captures, mingles and comprehends. 72
