Aino-Kaarina Pajari ”Aino-Kaarina Pajari was for a long time well known for her colourfull, painting-like, large size and more or less abstract carborundum works. In 2008 Pajari started to combine carborundum with woodcuts and then concentrated merely in woodcut. Her themes are dealing with plants, vegetables and landscapes, espesially seashore, fjeld and field sceneries. She collects the themes of her works by taking photographa of things she sees in her trips, on roadsides or in her own garden. She prints her bright coloured woodcuts usually by etching press on thick etching paper, which makes the works three dimensional.” For this exhibition I have chosen, exceptionally, two photographs of mountain birch. Photos were taken in August last year from Lapland, Kiilopää. I glued a thin paper on birch plywood, which emphasizes the content of the images.
”Aino-Kaarina Pajari oli pitkään tunnettu värikylläisistä, maalauksellisista, suurikokoisista ja enemmän tai vähemmän abstrakteista carborundum-teoksistaan. Vuonna 2008 Pajari alkoi yhdistää karborundumia puupiirroksiin ja sittemmin keskittyi vain puupiirrokseen. Hänen teemansa käsittelevät kasveja, vihanneksia ja maisemia, varsinkin merenrantoja, peltoja ja peltomaisemia. Hän kerää aiheita teoksiinsa ottamalla kuvia asioista, joita hän näkee matkoillaan, teiden varsilla tai omassa puutarhassaan. Hän vedostaa moniväriset puupiirroksensa etsausprässillä käyttämällä yleensä paksua syväpainopaperia, mikä tekee teoksista kolmiulotteisia.” Tähän näyttelyyn olen valinnut poikkeuksellisesti kaksi valokuvaa tunturikoivuista. Kuvat on otettu viime vuoden elokuussa Lapista Kiilopäältä. Olen liimannut ohuen vedospaperin koivuvanerille, joka korostaa kuvien sisältöä.

Anita Chan I have more than 15 years‘ experience in Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Ink painting and I started to have works exhibited in some ten years ago. I am now working as a Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Ink painting tutor. As a worshipper of nature, I feel touched by comfort and calm while painting or practising Chinese Calligraphy .

Anna-Maija Rissanen on Belgian-suomalainen taidemaalari, jonka inspiraation lähteinä toimii luonto ja maisema. Hänen teoksensa ovat pääosin herkkiä, runollisia ja rauhoittavia mielenmaisemia, joissa länsimainen ja itämainen taide kohtaavat. Esittävän ja abstraktin taiteen rajamaastossa hän etsii herkkyyden ja voiman tasapainoja. Anna-Maija Rissasen työskentelee kerroksittain vesipohjaisilla maaleilla kuten vesiväreillä, akryyleillä, musteella ja liiduilla, sekä käyttää teosten pohjina grafiikan vedoksia ja kollaasia. Hänen teostensa koko ja värimaailma vaihtelevat teemoittain. Anna-Maija Rissanen on syntynyt vuonna 1983 Järvenpäässä. Hän asui 14 vuotta Brysselissä ja valmistui vuonna 2009 kuvataiteiden maisteriksi ja taideopettajaksi Brysselin kuninkaallisesta taideakatemiasta. Vuonna 2009 hän voitti Godecharle taidekilpailun ensimmäisen sijan ja stipendin, jonka turvin hän opiskeli vuonna 2012-2013 perinteistä kiinalaista maalaustaidetta Hangzhoun Kiinan Taideakatemiassa. Vuosien 2009 ja 2019 välillä Anna-Maija Rissasella on ollut Suomessa ja ulkomailla 19 omaa näyttelyä, sekä osallistunut yli 40 ryhmä- ja yhteisnäyttelyyn, johon sisältyy myös taidemessuja ja taidekilpailuja niin Suomessa kuin ulkomailla. Anna-Maija Rissanen is a Belgian-Finnish painter who finds her inspiration in nature. She focuses mainly on painting poetic inner meditative landscapes of water and rock, between western and eastern representation, between abstract and figurative. In her works she concentrates on searching a balance between fragility and power through mixed perspectives and layers. She uses mainly mixed media that includes among others watercolour, acrylics, ink, print and collage. She poses thin layers of colours and creates different kinds of textures to give depth to the works. Her works vary in sizes and in colours. She was born 1983, in Järvenpää, Finland. She lived from 1995 to 2009 in Brussels, Belgium. She graduated in 2009 with an MA in Fine Arts from the Royal Fine-Arts Academy of Brussels and also qualified as an art teacher. In 2009 she won the first prize of Godecharle of 5,000 € awarded by the Godecharle foundation that gave her the opportunity to continue her studies in China. During 2012-2013 she studied techniques of traditional Chinese painting at the China Art Academy in Hangzhou. Between 2009 and 2019 she has had 19 solo exhibitions and taken part in more than 40 group shows that include also art fairs and competitions both international and Finnish. Ben Wong, Yun Nam Ben Wong is a very productive painter who is expressing his feeling and thoughts about the things that touches his mind. He is interested in watercolor painting, pastel artwork, as well as Chinese ink painting and Chinese calligraphy. His watercolor works includes landscapes of the country side, the cityscapes in Hong Kong and in other countries. He enjoys painting still life, flowers, portraits and other themes. His Chinese ink paintings includes the landscapes in China and the still life in his daily life. His Chinese calligraphy works are created based on poems which he wrote as well as the inspiration of poems from ancient poets.

The dancing butterflies under her brush look vivid & real. Kitty is now Chairman of the Eternity Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Association, Director of Yi Yuan Painting & Calligraphy Association, Executive Members of Hong Kong Ink Association. Clara Pang Clara Pang, born in China but raised in Hong Kong, is passionate about nature, sports and the arts. She is an prominent member of the Hong Kong Watercolour Society, being an administrator of the 花花少女, Flowers Group, a very active body with numerous member artists around the world. She participates in many of the Group's outdoor painting activities. Clara Pang is a watercolour painter who plays with colours, which she often turns into flowers, landscapes and happenings. She likes to express freedom, spontaneity and emotions through her paintings. She hopes that her art will convey a positive message and bring happiness and promise to people.

Emily Law Siu Ting Emily Law Siu Ting, born in China, living in Hong Kong, graduated from the Engineering Faculty of City University of Hong Kong and later completed the Advanced Diploma in Fine Art from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She like different medias and forms of art, oil painting, acrylic, water colour, dry media, sculpture, Chinese ink painting and so on. In recent years, she concentrate on the Chinese paintings. She has trained both in western and Chinese art and made the best use of both skill sets to depict with brush stroke and paint. Emily Law has planned & joined a number of group exhibitions and her solo exhibitions from 2010. In 2018, she established her art studio at Fotan, HK. She is one of the founding members and the secretary of the charity art group "Serendipity" form in 2015. Emily’s artworks have been published in newspapers and found in a number of personal collection.

Teema kulkee maalauksissa eri paikkoina, joissa olen käynyt, viettänyt aikaa ja, jotka ovat jollain erityisellä tavalla koskettaneet minua. Abstraktin esityksen, rikkaan värimaailman ja intuitiivisen työskentelymetodin avulla pääsen lähelle kokemuksieni perimmäistä tuntua. Kokemukset säilyvät mielessäni ja luonnoskirjassa muistoina, joihin palaan työhuoneella. Ne muodostuvat mieleeni väreinä, muotoina, viivoina, rytminä ja liikkeenä. Taiteilijana pyrin saavuttamaan kokemuksien ainutlaatuisuuden mahdollisimman rehellisellä kuvaamisella. Maalaus ei koostu ainoastaan kauniista ja harmonisista elementeistä, vaan niitä rikkoo jännite, hetkessä oleva särö.
My paintings are as a journal; pictures from subjective experiences. I paint places and moments which have been touched me very special way. Abstract and colourful presentation and intuitive working method leads me close to my unique experience. I collect experiences in my mind and on sketchbook as memories. At the studio I return to those and cultivate them to colors, forms, lines, rhythms and moves. As an artist I try to reach unique experiences with the most honest way. That means not to represent only aesthetic or harmonic element but a tension which might be as a crack in the moment.

I am a painter in Central Finland, Jyväskylä. My technique is oil painting. I paint the surrounding landscapes and nature in all into my paintings. The nature is for me a mystic and beautiful place of soul and presence. The landscape is my home. The world in my paintings is beautiful but something threatening is about to happen. The sky is getting darker, clouds are gathering and shadows are moving. Viewers/ people are seeking shelter or path through the landscape in their disappearing paradise. John Wong Born in Hong Kong, I have been studied under great Chinese ink art masters, namely Ho Choi On, Hung Hoi, Wong Ling Yu, and contemporary ink painting masters, Chui Tsz Hong, Wong Hao Kuai and Fung Wing Kei to learn traditional and modern ink art. I have received a diploma in Chinese landscape painting after attending the University of Hong Kong SPACE. Devoting to ink art for over 30 years, I would love to sketch with ink and rice paper. Through abstract and semi-abstract techniques, those shining moments and slice of lives are likely to be captured. I believe painting is a form of inner world and a reflection of subconsciousness. Lingering charm, emotion and unique style are all indispensable for a piece of art. I have participated in various exhibitions and my works were collected by the Shek King Yi Museum and a personal collector.

Kaisa Koljonen I'm a 27 year old visual artist from Jyväskylä, central Finland. My emphasis is on printmaking and painting. Visually my works mix surreal, abstract and symbolic elements, creating imagery that invokes the human subconscious with its archetypal elements. I use a lot of imagery of human anatomy in my art, and mix that with other visual elements creating an impression of a distorted surreal anatomy book. The use of symmetry appears naturally in my art - I feel that it reflects the fractal structures of nature. In printmaking my works are built of groups of small organic lines, which finally form the artwork. The motivation for my art is to experience what it is to be human, and to let the viewers reflect themselves from my art. Currently my work is strongly influenced by the theme that a human is at the same time a physical and a psychological creature, and those two forms of excistence are bound together. In my art I strive towards the higher purpose of being human. Eu sou artista visual e tenho 27 anos. Sou de Jyväskylä, na Finlândia central. Minha ênfase está na gravura e na pintura. Visualmente, minhas obras misturam elementos surreais, abstratos e simbólicos, criando imagens que invocam o subconsciente humano com seus elementos arquetípicos. Eu uso muitas imagens da anatomia humana em minha arte, e misturo isso com outros elementos visuais criando uma impressão de um livro de anatomia surreal distorcida. O uso da simetria aparece naturalmente em minha arte - sinto que ela reflete as estruturas fractais da natureza. Na gravura, minhas obras são feitas de grupos de pequenas linhas orgânicas, que finalmente formam a obra de arte. A motivação para minha arte é experimentar o que é ser humano e deixar os espectadores refletirem a si mesmos em minha arte. Atualmente, meu trabalho é fortemente influenciado pelo tema de que um humano é ao mesmo tempo uma criatura física e uma psicológica, e essas duas formas de excisão estão unidas. It provides enormous possibilities for variation. During the last decade my many solo exhibitions have been presented thematically as “FROZEN FLOW”. This due to the process of paper drying which implies a gradual ceasing of the free movement of the tiny cellulose fibres – a frozen flow is created. It is the short course of events, “the freezing”, that primarily fascinates me giving me workspace. I strive to master and control the strong forces that make paper shrink and wrinkle. My objects in handmade paper are frozen moments of dynamic events.

Vuosien 2007-2011 täysiaikainen opiskelu Repin-instituutin kuvataidekoulutuksessa Kotkassa Pietarin Taideakatemian professoroiden ja pedagogien ohjauksessa toi valmiuden kehittää omaa taidetta yhdistämällä hankittu vahva klassinen taito ja mielikuvitus laatukuvanaivismiksi. Kristinan mukaan laatukuvanaivismi on taidesuuntaus, jossa naivismi ja realistinen maalaustaide lyövät reilusti keskenään kättä ammentaen toisensa parhaita puolia. Kristina on pitänyt näyttelyitä Suomessa sekä ulkomailla vuodesta 1991. Heltidsstudierna år 2007-2011 vid Repin-institutets bildkonstskola i Kotka, under ledning av St. Peterburgs bildkonstakademis professorer och pedagoger, gav färdigheten att förnya den egna konsten. Med hjälp av det goda kunnandet i realistiskt måleri samt sin fantasi skapades den naivistiska genremålningen. Enligt Kristina är naivistisk genremålning en konstinriktning som kombinerar den klassiska realismens teknik och naivismens humor. Kristina har ställt ut sina målningar i Finland samt utomlands sedan år 1991. Kristina has studied fine arts at the Repin Institute in Kotka, full-time between 2007-2011. The studies under the guidance of professors and teachers of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts gave her the tools to renew her own practice. By combining strong classical skills with her imagination, genre painting of naive art was created. According to Kristina naive genre painting is an art genre which combines the technique of classic realism with the humor of naive art. Maj-Lis Tanner maj.lis@tanner.fi Mielenmaisemia Olen Espoossa asuva kuvataiteilija. Viime aikoina olen maalannut ekspressiivisesti akryylillä pleksille. Mielestäni näin saan väreistä kaiken irti, valon sekä yllätyksellisyyden. Tavallaan tulos näyttää valokuvalta, mutta sitä se ei ole, ennemminkin tällä metodilla pystyn hienosti leikittelemään todellisuuden ja mielikuvituksellisuuden kanssa ja silti saan teoksen näyttämään todelliselta. Osakan näyttelyssä olevissa teoksissa tasapainoilen uteliaisuuden ja pelon välillä. Ihminen voi olla peloissaan vieraassa kaupungissa kun ilta tulee, varjot pitenevät ja lopulta mielikuvitus voittaa todellisuuden. Harmittomat ja hauskat leikit ryhtyvät näyttämään terroristiteoilta. Todellisuus muuntuu epätodelliseksi. Toisessa Osakassa mukana olevassa akryyliteoksessani liikuskelen villissä luonnossa. Taas esillä on pitkiä varjoja, jopa ehkä hyökkäävä karhu. Teoksen mielenmaisema voidaan omia suomalaisuudeksi. Minä koloristina mielelläni rakentelen suomalaisia tunnelmia ja aiheita. Tässä puolitodellisuuden ja hämärän tajunnan välitilassa tapahtuu maalauksen pinnalla voimakasta liikettä. Ehkä se ilmentää luonnon voimaa yli ihmisen.
Mental landscapes I am a Finnish visual artist living in Espoo near Helsinki. My last works of art have been painted with expressionist style on plexiglass because in this way I can reach the best of the colors I love. This method of painting and acrylics give me a sense of photographing, but most of all, with them I can be playful and mix reality with imagination and still make the painting look real. My paintings in Osaka balance between curiosity and fear. You can be scared in strange cities when night comes, shadows grow darker and finally you can´t distinguish between reality and imagination. Harmless and happy plays turn in our mind into terrorist outrage. Reality turns into unreality. In my other painting with acrylic on plexiglass on view in Osaka I move in savage nature. There you once again meet long dark shadows, but maybe also an attacking bear. In this case the mental landscape in the painting is also part of Finnishness. I as a colorist like to construct Finnish atmospheres and topics. On the surface of the painting, in this intermediate state between half reality and obscure consciousness, you can see strong movement. Perhaps it represents the power of nature over human.

Premonition is the start for a new painting process, which will then proceed towards the work that you wish to encounter in the end. Sometimes the process will progress slowly and painfully through diversions and impasses. Sometimes it will take a shortcut and be ready in one go. Other times you can travel a long way in the dark, only to suddenly confront a completed work. You cannot always know what kind of a birthing process you are facing, and to where it will lead. When I was a child, I was sure that there existed some special task for me, through which my life would be valuable. If I wouldn't paint, I would sing and act, if I wouldn't act, I would write, and if I wouldn't do any of these, I would dream of them all. I've had the pleasure of doing all of these things and much more, and in all areas I've greatly enjoyed my work and it's results. Maria Teresa Anjos Born and lives in Rio de Janeiro where she produces her acrylic paintings on canvas. Her works reflects the interest in the contemporary world and aims to connect it with the observer. It is the observer the one to find the meaning out of her works, the one that explains it. Searching for references, the observer will obtain its own understanding of the work. The painter tells it, but it is the observer who listens to it, the observer is free to build its own interpretation up. "I don't look for a visible world, I don't try to re-create the world around us, I escape from figurative structures". "On canvas, I merely aim painting, I don't look for a concrete representation, but to reveal what may be hidden to the observer". The color spectrum with an important presence of dark shades and black is directly linked to the abstract expressionism. The forms, when they exist, have a tendency to spontaneous vertical traces with high dramatic contents.

Minna Alaluusua on monipuolinen ja monilahjakas taiteilija, joka pyrkii yhdistämään innovatiivisuuden, hyvät ideat ja omaperäisyyden sekä teostensa sisällössä että muodossa. Minna haluaa myös auttaa ihmisiä näkemään yhtäläisyyksiä eri ihmisryhmien välillä erovaisuuksien sijaan. Japanin pääuskonnot ovat shintolaisuus ja buddhalaisuus, ja shintolaisuuden pääjumala on auringon jumala, Amaterasu. Shintolaisessa perinteessä pyöreää, pyhää peiliä, Yata no Kagamia on käytetty ulkona Amaterasun esiin houkuttelemiseksi. Minna huomasi, että oli tehnyt itse lähes samaa juhannuksena 2017 omassa performanssissaan, minkä vuoksi hän valitsi Japanissa esitettäviksi juuri nämä valokuvat. Minna Alaluusua on rakastanut aurinkoa niin paljon, että hänen on ollut hankala pysytellä poissa suorasta auringonvalosta kun aurinko on paistanut. Minnalle juhannus on vuoden tärkein juhla ja vuoden rakkain, pyhä aika auringonvalomaksimin ja luonnon kukoistuksen vuoksi. Minna on tehnyt taidetta joka juhannus vuodesta 1995 alkaen. Vuoden 2017 juhannusaattona Minna keksi heijastaa ulkona auringonvalomaksimia erilaisilla valoa heijastavilla materiaaleilla peilipallosta alkaen, pukeutuen erilaisiin kiiltäviin materiaaleihin. Minna toteutti silloin valoa heijastavissa vaatteissaan, peilipallon kanssa performanssin ja teetti siitä valokuvasarjan, josta kaksi valokuvaa on esillä Osakassa. Minnan valokuvat on tulostettu kiiltävälle alumiinille muistuttamaan kiiltävistä, itämaisista ja länsimaisista esineistä joita on mahdollista käyttää auringon palvomiseen. Minna Alaluusua is a versatile and multitalented artist, who aims to combine innovation, good ideas and originality both in the content and the form of her work. Minna also wants to help people see similarities between groups of people, instead of differences. The main religions of Japan are Shintoism and Buddhism, and the main god of Shintoism is Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun. In the Shintoist tradition, the round, sacred mirror, Yata no Kagami has been used outside to lure Amaterasu out. Minna noticed that she had done almost the same in a performance of hers during the summer solstice of 2017. That is why she chose these photographs to be shown in Japan. Minna Alaluusua has loved the sun so much, it has been difficult for her to stay out of direct sunlight when it has been available. For Minna, the summer solstice is the most important holiday of the year, and the dearest, sacred time because of the sunlight maximum and the blooming of nature. Minna has made art every summer solstice since 1995. On the eve of the 2017 summer solstice, Minna had the idea of reflecting the sunlight maximum with different reflecting materials, such as the mirror ball, and shiny clothes. Then, wearing her shiny clothes and with the disco ball, Minna realized the performance and made a series of photographs, of which two are displayed in Osaka. The photographs are printed on glossy aluminium to be reminiscent of shiny, oriental and occidental objects which can be used to worship the sun. ”According to the testimony of Eusebius of Alexandria, Christians, too shared in the worship of the rising sun until well into the fifth century… Not a few traces of sun-worship are preserved in ecclesiastical art, for instance the nimbus round the head of Christ, and the haloes of the saints.” – Carl G. Nonna-Nina Mäki I am an artist from Tampere, Finland. I graduated from Lahti Art Institute in 1995. I’ve had my work on display in Finland, as well as in other countries. I’ve took part in numerous joint displays all over the world, including India, Japan, France, USA, Italy and Brazil. The imagery of my work has been influenced by my trips to India and other inspiring destinations along the years. While traveling, I have experienced hurricanes, the cordiality of the poor people and everything in between. Love is something that touches everyone, regardless if you live in a slum or in a wealthy neighborhood. Everyone needs love around themselves. Love has a different meaning for every one of us, as our history and thoughts paint our picture of love. Some might remember their first kiss in a summer night, while some can still feel the bitter sting on their chest as the love of their life has been lost. The altruistic form of love never perishes. While traveling, I have absorbed the full spectrum of colors. In the slums of India, I have seen how people get along with so little. However, they embrace all kinds of diverse colors to the extent, that it might make a western traveler dizzy. Recycling and the insight, which forms from it impresses me. Through the years I have used tablecloths, laces, sheets, clothes and other recycleable materials. I am developing the consept forward and from that inspiration I have created the paintings of this display from recycled denim. Potential and opportunity can be found by anyone, even from the weirdest places and situations. In the back pockets like a rocket, travel the lighthearted characters, but the paintings have a serious message too. In the poor conditions of India, the colors are bright and the attitude cheery, while the physical reality can be crushingly tragic. Western tourists’ overwhelming consuming, the overconsuming of natural resources, are both symbolized in the denim, the pinnacle of the fashion industry. I try to provide an unbiased approach and to raise thoughts and discussion. What is art like and what feelings should it inspire? Ranting is pointless. Before that I worked as a primary school teacher for some forty years. That means I shared a great deal of my creative moments with children and teenagers. Alongside my work I travelled on art trips, painted, and in particular in the last years immersed myself in the art of sculpture. My bronze sculptures have featured in a number of juried joined exhibitions as well as in individual exhibitions in Finland. I was also active in art societies for about a decade – of which two years as the chair. But now I direct all my creative energy exclusively towards my art. Bronze casting has a number of steps, which means that you can only produce a few sculptures a year. Working on bronze is hard but rewarding, like the material itself. My art work is inspired by the home, nature, people, and animals. My sculptures bring about stories and fairly-tales that take on an imaginative life of their own. For an artist, time flies. Perhaps that is also why many of my bronze figures have acquired wings. In my latest individual exhibition, I merged old photographs with my sculptures. Glass and bronze go very nicely together. Beauty Box-sarjassa käytän omintakeista tekniikkaa jossa kutistettu muoto kasvoistani sekä valokuva yhdistetään. Tuloksena on 3-ulotteinen valokuvapohjainen paperivalos ja henkilökuvia joiden kautta kuvaan tunnetiloja ja identiteetin skaaloja eksistenssin näyttämöllä. Viittaukset myytteihin, tarinoihin ja taidehistoriaan sekoittuvat ja kerronta tulee esiin performanssin kaltaisessa tilanteessa kameran edessä. Olen alustana kuvitteellisille henkilöhahmoille joihin samastun. In Beauty Box I use an original technique where the shrunken form of my face and photopotrait are combined. The result is a series of three dimensional photo based papercasts and characters that descibes scales of identity, emotions and existens. References to myths, tales and art history are mixed together and the narrative comes out as a performance in front of the camera. I use myself as a base for the fictive characters with whom I identify. Aihemaailmani nousee varsinaissuomalaisesta maisemasta, jonne muutin kahdeksan vuotta sitten, vanhaan taloon rytmikkäiden maisemien äärelle. Pidän kovasti näistä näkymistä. Näiden maisemien ja avarien näkymien kauneus innostaa minua tulkitsemaan niitä omien sisäisten tunteitteni kautta. Näissä maisemissa on samanmoinen henki kuin Toscanan näkymissä, joita olen saanut maalata useilla reissuillani. Teoksissani värit ja valo ovat tärkeät. Teokseni maalaan öljyväreillä kankaalle. Piirtämistä ei saa unohtaa, se on työssäni ehdoton tuki. In my paintings I deal with nature and its diversity. My subject rises from the Southwestern Finnish landscape, where I moved eight years ago to the old house near rhythmic landscapes. I like these views very much. The beauty of these landscapes and open-air views inspires me to interpret them through my own feelings. These landscapes have the same spirit as the Tuscan views, which I have been allowed to paint on many of my trips. In my works, colours and light are important. I paint my paintings with oil on canvas. Drawings should not be forgotten; it is an absolute support for my work.

Seppo Väänänen Context of my art The natural environment has played a paramount role in my art. I am interested in natural phenomena in their purest forms as well as the human imprints on nature. The instances when nature overtakes human cultures over time by consuming and rotting old structures and borders fascinate me. I have lived all my life on lakeshores. I ponder over different forms of water in my works of art. Water, snow, and ice are elements which constantly reshape the northern landscape. Our ability to read nature is slowly disappearing as we live less and less on its terms. For me art allows a consideration of my own relationship with nature. Sometimes I get so near to its true essence, it is nearly within reach. Nature however still riddles me as I have lost my ability to sense it instinctively. I am not a bear, a fish, or a bird. Taiteeni Taustaa Taiteessani luonto ja ympäristö merkitsevät minulle paljon. Minua kiinnostaa puhdas luonto ja luonnon ilmiöt sekä luonnossa näkyvät ihmisen tekemät jäljet. Tilanne jossa luonto valtaa takaisin ihmisen tekemää kulttuuria ja aika joka lahottaa rakenteita ja rajoja. Olen koko ikäni asunut vesistöjen rannalla. Tekosissani pohdin veden erimuotoja vesi, lumi, jää ovat pohjolan maisemassa jatkuvasti maisemaa muokkaavia visuaalisia elementtejä. Koska ihminen ei enää elä luonnon ehdoilla ihmisen taidot lukea luontoa ovat katoamassa. Taide on minulle väline pohtia omaa luontosuhdettani. Joskus pääsen lähelle luontoa ja melkein ymmärrän sen olemuksen, mutta aina se on minullekin jatkuvasti muuttuva arvoitus. En ole karhu, kala tai lintu.

Shirley Kwok S L Shirley Kwok S L who is from Hong Kong and has been started painting in different media as hobby after leaving school, joined different exhibitions in Hong Kong recently. The introduction to Chinese painting came few years ago after seeing the art pieces of “Qi Basishi“ (18611957), a famous Chinese painter. She sets out to produce painting about one specific media or another. She draws and sometimes the drawings are left in the sketch status and few are developed into complete paintings. The work tends to focus on the nature, the nature in recapturing the beauty of life.

Se on edelleen suuri rakkauteni, vaikka tanssikirjoittaminen on jäänyt sivuun. Teosparini Composed Beat kumpuaa siitä todesta, että nykyinen monikymmenvuotinen kotikaupunkini Oulu on voimakkaasti tanssiorientoitunut. Tanssilajien kirjo on laaja: kilpaurheilusta esittävään taiteeseen, harrastuksesta ammattilaisuuteen. Oulussa sijaitsee yksi Suomen tanssin aluekeskuksista, harrastepohjaisia kouluja on runsaasti, tanssinopettajia kaupungissa on koulutettu 1990-luvun alusta. Sijansa ovat myös löytäneet monet vuosittaiset erityyppiset tanssitapahtumat, katutanssikin on tässä joukossa. Eli varmasti niin Oulussa kuin Osakassa jännitetään, nouseeko breiktanssi kilpailulajiksi Tokion jälkeisissä kesäolympialaisissa Pariisissa 2024 sitten esiinmarssinsa nuorten olympialaisissa Buenos Airesissa 2018. Asun siis Oulussa, mutta esimerkiksi grafiikkaani olen vedostanut yksinomaan Limingan taidekoulussa, joka sijaitsee kolmisenkymmentä kilometriä etelään päin.
I live in Oulu, a city in Northern Finland, with a population of over 200 000 people. I am an independent artist; my background is in journalism and critics. In my works, I combine several methods. For the last ten years, I have studied and worked with arts, from photography to Live Art. Before, I worked for several decades in a newspaper where my speciality was dance. Dance remains my biggest passion, although I no longer write about it publicly. My duo of works, Composed Beat, has originated from the fact that Oulu, which is my current hometown and has been for several decades, is a very dance oriented city. We have a vast array of dance forms, from competitive sports to performing arts, from amateurs to professionals. Oulu is home for one of the regional dance centers in Finland, it also has many dance studios as well as a degree programme for dance teachers, operating since the beginning of 1990’s. Several different annual dance events, including street dance events have found their place in the city. Therefore, both in Oulu and in Osaka we are waiting to see whether breaking will become a competitive sport in the summer Olympics after Tokyo in Paris 2024, since its appearance in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in 2018. Although I live in Oulu, I have printed all my graphic art works in Liminka School of Arts, which is situated roughly 30 kilometers to the south.

Minusta tuli taiteilija, vaikka se ei ollut suunnitelmissani. Ensimmäisen lapsemme syntymän jälkeen löysin isäni tekemän hienon akvarellimaalauksen. Hän oli ilmeisen lahjakas, mutta ei kiinnostunut taidostaan. Tämä pisti miettimään; osaisinkohan minäkin maalata yhtä hyvin? Päätin kokeilla. Olen siis pääosin itseoppinut taiteilija, mikä on kyllä joskus haasteellista, mutta joka päivä studiolle mennessäni tunnen yhä sen ”liekin” sydämessäni ja se saa minut jatkamaan… Tällä hetkellä pidän työskentelystä vanerin kanssa ja erityisesti vanhojen kirjan kansien ja vanhan puun ajan patinoima pinta ja rouheus kiehtoo kovasti. Käytän usein akryyliä, pastellia ja hiiltä. Pidän myös pitsistä, decoupagesta ja kaikista romanttisista materiaaleista! I became an artist, even thoug it was not in my plans. After our first baby was born, I found excellent watercolour painting made by my father, who obviously had talent but no interest. That made me wonder could I also paint so well? I decided to try. So, I´m mainly self-thought astist, it can be challenging sometimes but every day when I go to my studio I still feel that ”flame” in my heart and that keeps me going… At the moment I like to work with plywood and especially with old book covers and old wood. I´m very fascinated with their roughness and time patinated surface. I often use acrylic, pastel and charcoal. I also like lace, decoupage and all those romantic materials as well! Yolanda Marchante Serra Yolanda Marchante Serra was born in Spain, Madrid 1964, training as a child at Amadeo Roca Gisbert workshop who was a friend of her grandfather. She was graduated in the Complutense Fine Art University in 1987. She continued with merit studies ranging from restoring the Renaissance altarpiece in Pedrosa with a scholarship granted by Burgos City Hall to Studying Graphics Design. In 1991, she was awarded Prizes as a painter and also, is awarded honorable mention in Drawing Penagos Prize organized by Mapfre in 2005 and 2007. She has had some National exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, Córdoba, Albacete, Granada, Asturias, Segovia. She was preset at International Art Fairs exhibitions in Miami, Paris, Brusells, Bidart, Frankfurt and Jaén. Her artwork belongs to more than a dozen museums and public and private collections such us: National Library in Madrid, CasaPalacio Santa Ana Museum in Córdoba, Casa de Los Tiros Museum in Granada, Villaseñor Museum in Ciudad Real, The Albacete Provincial Council, National Auditorium of Music in León, City Hall of Valdegangas and Andújar, Bullfighting Affairs Center in Ventas, Madrid.
