e have an amazing arrary of writers in our latest May issue which I am sure you will enjoy. Our featured artist is Albin Talik from Poland who creates incredibly detailed works of art using paper and collage. We also feature Penny Westwick’s beautiful body art creation from our very successful 1 year Anniversary Event which was held at the fabulous Dust Temple in Currumbin Creek Road. A big thank you to Penny, the Dust Temple and all those that performed and came along to show their support for Artinzene Online Magazine. We have a very strong female presence in this latest edition. Hello. My name is Albin Talik. I live and work in Cracow. Fo work was the music. I playe to be a rock star. I share my pictures on different cycles. I started with portraits of friends and family. I’m currently working on a series called: Rumination. Rumination is similar to worry except it focuses on bad feelings and experiences from the past. I try to show a man struggling with their weaknesses, loneliness, alcohol, stimulants, the man who meditates on the meaning of existence. The heroes of my paintings often wear masks. They are a symbol of thought, passing through life. In my work I try to encourage the viewer to think about what is really important in life.

Penny Westwick chose a peacock theme for her body art creation with Digitaliss Demiwolf modelling the stunning greens, blues and golds of the beautiful Peacock. The photoshoot was taken by Elle Creative at the Dust Temple who hosted the event providing a rustic, earthy background for these incredible photos. Having a chat with Penny about her creation: How many hours did it take to create this masterpiece? “Approx 4hrs that’s for the hand painted back piece, hair and makeup” What was your inspiration for the Peacock theme? “I love the colours and peacocks are so pretty when they spread out their feathers.” How long have you been doing body art? “Around about 3 years, I’m self taught”

art What inspired you to become a body painter? “I was in a beauty makeup class when I was studying makeup and we had a lovely body artist come to the class as a one off to talk to us about body art and do a demo then get us to have a go on our own piece, I had never ever done it before and thought there is no way I could do this, she said to bring in something that inspires us so I brought in a tattoo print handbag and painted it on my model, I just started to paint and it all flowed out I never knew I had it in me and I loved creating it so I just went on from there and never looked back.” What is the longest amount of time you have spent painting a model? “12 hours straight it was crazy but fun and I had an amazing piece at the end of it all. A Day in the Life of an Artist by Rachael Hindmarsh

So much has happened in the last two months, I don’t really know where to start, so I’ll begin with saying it’s been an amazing journey to date. Learning I can paint, by embracing it, by living and breathing it, it has opened my mind and my soul and I am a stronger person for it and so I am so very thankful. As I started to emerge as an artist, I began some counselling for PTSD, sometimes I think I have too much trauma and not enough counselling but I’m making progress and taking some giant steps forward and I believe if it weren’t for my painting, it would not have been possible.

art I know that sounds a little dramatic but painting has taught me, creative mindfulness - it’s allowed me the peace and the confidence to address the really hard things that I’ve been carrying around, weighing me down for far too long. I’m changing, growing and learning to believe in myself and believing I matter. I was honoured to be invited on ‘tough times never last’ tv show and interviewed by Michael Kuzilny, it’s going to be airing soon which has my stomach churning. I worry that there may be judgment as Michael asked some really tough questions, exposing all of me, the good, the bad and the ugly, however it has also shown how art has helped me through the tough times and continues to help and I hope that’s what people see. I’ve also had my first exhibition. Sorry let me just repeat that - I’ve just had my first ever exhibition!!!! It has been an incredible experience, the preparation and the installation was so very stressful yet extremely exciting,

art And (as with any artist), as my launch night neared, all my fears and thoughts of self doubt grew into gargantuan proportions, but my friends rallied around me and helped me believe in myself - and thank goodness they did, because it was an amazing night. And although it’s been mentioned that my thank you speech on the night was a little brief, and to be fair, it was ridiculously short but I’ve come a long from the girl who (at her first market) needed a cover story because I was too scared to admit that i was the artist.

The album was recorded at Love Street Studios with respected local producer Scott French (nominated for Music Champion of the Year—Gold Coast Music Awards 2015). French is also known for his forays into world music, having performed extensively with former Gold Coast outfit ‘A French Butler Called Smith’, and in his current role as the guitarist in Felicity’s band. “The recording process with Scott is like two kids playing together with awesome toys. Whatever we imagine, we indulge and create. He is a big part of the arranging.” The album’s first offering is ‘Cowboy Cameraman’ a story about a real life character, Damian Lang, who collaborated on and directed the film clip. The film clip will be launched at The Powerhouse in Brisbane on 6th March 2016. Felicity’s trajectory as an artist has been nothing short of spectacular. Morphing seamlessly from playing in roots and reggae bands, moving into the folk genre as a solo artist and now maturing into her current role as a captivating front woman in firm control of her musical destiny and on the cusp of releasing her second album.

Keeping Well in Winter

The Gold Coast has just experienced its first cold snap this Autumn! It seems to me that we sun-lovers start failing to function once the temperature drops below 20 degrees. It’s far more attractive to stay in bed as long as possible, to order take away instead of cooking, and to sip on too many coffees, hot chocolates and other indulgent drinks as we snuggle up and forget all about exercise. As tempting as these options may sound, they don’t lead to great health. Low exercise, poor food choices, too much sugar and caffeine as well as low sun exposure leads to increased infections and a variety of other winter-related health problems. Colds, flus and chest infections are rife at the moment, and studies show that the winter months significantly increase incidence of depression and low mood. That’s not to mention winter weight which is so easy to gain as our body naturally wants to hibernate. Here are some of my favourite winter wellness tips to keep you happy and healthy all season. Food and Diet My go to winter cooking favourite is the slow cooker. Getting home from work with the sun already going down, it’s so great to walk into the house that smells of warm delicious savoury cooking! Bone broths, soups, stews, lamb shanks, osso bucco, daahls, currys… it’s far easier to eat healthy if it’s right there ready and waiting for you. Home cooked, slow cooked meals are high in easily absorbable nutrients. Served with brown rice or quinoa cooked in a rice cooker and you have a delicious, healthy meal high in complex carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals. ARTINZENE / Issue #6

health It’s tempting to drink more caffeinated beverages over the winter months but the increased levels of caffeine lower our immune system and play havoc with our nervous system. If you are someone who struggles with anxiety or stress, the increased caffeine can leave you feeling strung out and wired. Choose caffeine free herbal teas, Swiss water filter decaffeinated coffee, or cacao hot chocolate for healthy alternatives. Remember that dairy increased mucous production so if you have the winter sniffles, skip the milk! Mood and Moving It is likely to seem like a good idea during winter to sleep in as opposed to getting up and exercising first thing in the morning. But gentle exercise during these months can go a long way in keeping you fit and healthy for spring. Exercise such as out door walking, stretching, and yoga work to speed up the metabolism, and heat up your body from the inside out. Instead of hibernating under the covers if you’re feeling chilly, try rugging up and going for a brisk walk. You’ll find you feel warm and energised in no time. And if the cold wind is too much for you today, how about a heated yoga class to warm the bones? Exercising over the winter months also helps to elevate mood and energy. If you feel your energy levels or outlook start to dip, make an effort to get out and move your body every day. After a week, you’ll be surprised how much better you feel. This brings us to sun exposure. In winter our sun exposure significantly decreases, and with it goes our vitamin D. High levels of vitamin D is vital in the healthy functioning of our immune system, and without it we are more likely to catch those winter bugs. High levels of D also reduce body pain, so if you get achy during the cold months, consider boosting your vitamin D. During winter, we can make small amounts of vitamin D on our skin as long as we live north of Sydney. The best sun to get during winter is midday sun, try and exposure your limbs to it and not to shower for 15 minutes after exposure. This might mean going outside on your lunch break and sitting in the sun.

health Supplement Support To avoid the winter bugs there are a few products that I highly recommend taking. The first is vitamin C. Make sure you take a vitamin C with bioflavonoids, in strengths of between 500-1000mg. If you are very susceptible to illness, you can take this three times a day, or just once a day for those with stronger immunity. Zinc is another super immune supporting supplement. You can often get this in combination with a vitamin C. You want to be taking between 25-30mg once or twice a day after food. Vitamin D we have already spoken about, but for those who can’t make it into the sun, you can supplement with between 1000-3000ug per day as a winter maintenance dose. There are also plenty of excellent immune boosting combinations containing herbs such as Andrographis, Echinacea, and Olive Leaf. Certain probiotics also boost the immune system and can be very beneficial at this time. This is especially good for those with little ones. Following these tips will help you and your loved ones stay healthy and happy this winter.

HOW DO YOUR GENES MEASURE UP? THE ‘DO IT YOURSELF’ IRIS CONSTITUTION TEST Observing the iris we discover our ‘constitution’. Looking up close in the mirror in a well – lit room with the naked eye or through a magnifying glass, you will notice your iris is made up of many individual fibres. The fibres in the iris represent the strength of connective tissue in the body. Connective tissue is in charge not only of the makeup of our skin, bones or joints, but also the makeup of our internal organs. For this reason in iridology, we look at close, even fibres in the iris with few openings (if any) as representing a stronger constitution, whereas a pattern composed of many openings, giving the iris a flower like pattern, indicates a weaker constitution.

FIND YOUR NURTURE POINTS Openings in the fibres or ‘flower petals’ can appear in different parts of the eye, and may indicate a certain ‘Nurture Point’. In other words, a body system or organ which may potentially need some extra attention and nurturing. For example, when many flowers are seen in the glandular (hormonal) area (the area directly surrounding the stomach zone), the hormonal system becomes a ‘Nurture Point’. Females with eyes like this may experience PMS or PMT type symptoms and often more serious hormonal related conditions such as Endometriosis or Fibroids, while males might need to look closely at prostate and reproductive health in general. Flowers in the hormonal zone also represent more of an emotional or emotionally - reactive personality. 52

health We need to then look at adjusting the diet, enjoying a range of fresh vegetables including cabbage and all of our green leafy vegetables, which are great for detoxifying recycled hormones which may contribute to many hormonal imbalances and hormone – related conditions. Including plenty of zinc sources in the diet from pumpkin seeds, oysters, spinach, and raw cacao for example can help restore healthy hormone production. We also need to look at eliminating sugar completely as sugar is one of the biggest enemies as our oestrogens thrive on anything sweet.

FRECKLY EYES?

If you can spot little dark freckles in your eyes it may mean your liver needs a good detox. Especially when the freckles are few, and are a darker shade of brown. Potential weakness may exist in the related organs the freckles are covering in the iris which is your body’s map of organs. But if your iris looks like you have been out in the sun with no sunscreen on for a while, and there are too many little freckles to count, then this sign becomes more constitutional; it then may indicate that you may have a real ‘sweet tooth’ and suffer the effects of blood sugar fluctuations and severe sugar, junk food or alcohol cravings. Your nurture point then becomes your pancreas. By controlling your blood sugar levels through eating every 3 - 4 hours, avoiding sugar and white flour, limiting alcohol and including clean sources of protein every time you eat, you can be well on your way to not only healthier blood glucose levels (and pancreas) but also a more energised, leaner version of you. What is Medicine? by Melanie Brockwell

Before the more recent reference to tinctures and therapies, the term ‘medicine’ meant Oneness. People’s such as the Hopi, ancient Egyptians, Buddhists, alchemists and others, saw medicine as more than a cure for what ails us. For them, medicine was a form of living wisdom, a full and vital experience of our wholeness. For them, to be healed was to be whole, to see oneself not as parts - higher and ego, physical and emotional - but inseparable and indivisible. They built a way of life around their one-self, and practiced their faith within the dance of doing and being; simultaneously self and other, sister and mother, spirit and form. Acting as one point in a realisation beyond time-space, where all that is celebrates the spectrum of oneness. Believing there was a way of seeing the world more clearly and being guided by this clarity, each culture developed a story to behold the sacred wisdom of not knowing. In time this story became a path, a map, and a source of sustenance.

Some spoke of the wheel, others made sacred the journey, but all shared their picture of ‘what is’ in the language Spirit revealed. Ever so slight revisions of the story appeared in each re-telling. Religious doctrine underwent exegesis, and conquered lands re-negotiated the terms of their design. From the first inkling of oneness within a society to the first re-telling of its wonder, a world incessantly changing left nothing unchanged to pass from one moment into the next… and so to speak of origin and authenticity is to ask a rainbow which colour it prefers. Medicine and wholeness have more recently been separated out from the way we operate, and made into a belief system that promises to solve our problems. As free agents of modern culture, we are encouraged to pick through the various wisdoms available to us and re-appropriate these living maps into a montage of personal principles. We use these principles to help us achieve a means to an end such as a global shift or the raising of consciousness.

Raw A raw food diet is predominantly plant based, with no cooking of ingredients above 47 degrees Celsius. Keeping food raw preserves the natural enzymes and micro-nutrients, while sprouting or activating nuts, seeds and legumes boosts their nutrient content. Certain raw foodies will consume honey and bee pollen, but generally no meat, dairy, or processed foods are consumed. This diet requires time and preparation so can be difficult to follow without planning. Ideally short term, it can be great for detoxification, reduction of fluid retention and food intolerances, constipation and can help to boost energy levels and vitality. It can be difficult to ensure adequate protein intake for very active people without supplementation, and over time can result in iron and B12 deficiencies. It is also easy to consume large quantities of nuts and natural sugars in raw sweets, smoothies and desserts which can cause weight gain in some people.

health Vegan Often chosen for ethical reasons, a vegan diet avoids all animal products. While studies have shown that a plant base diet can be the healthiest diet for humans, there is plenty of vegan food available that is highly processed, full of chemicals, sugars, and hydrogenated plant oils. The dangers of this diet include relying on carbohydrates for energy, resulting in weight gain, mood swings and fatigue. It can also result in low iron and B12 levels. Consuming a vegan diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes and some complex carbohydrates such as spelt, quinoa, millet, brown rice and amaranth will be of the most benefit. HFLC High Fat Low Carb diets are similar to Paleo, with the addition of more butter and dairy products. Carbohydrates such as grains, sugars, fruits and root vegetables are generally avoided. This diet relies heavily of energy production from fats as opposed to carbohydrates, and as a result some people can suffer from low energy and blood glucose fluctuations while adjusting to this diet. For those with an under functioning liver and gall bladder (or for those who have had their gall bladder removed) it is likely this diet will not suit, and may cause nausea and diarrhoea. Studies have suggested that a diet high in good quality fats can be beneficial for the prevention of dementia and myelin sheath defects.

health 80/10/10 Basically the opposite of the HFLC diet, this eating style suggests 80% of your calorific intake from carbohydrates, 10% from raw plant based protein and 10% from fat. The main benefit of this diet is the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables consumed with little to no processed foods. Devotees of this diet may consume 30 bananas a day, along with dates, rice, potatoes and pasta. This diet is very high in natural sugars, low in protein and low in fats. It may suit those doing significant physical activity on a daily basis, but many negative reports suggest it can cause weight gain in those who are not as active. Choosing the right diet for you can take some trial and error. It is best to stick to a particular eating regime for at least 2 months before you make an assessment as to whether the diet is right for you. Certain diets can cause discomfort and detoxification as your body adjusts to a new way of eating but it is always best to contact your health care professional if you have any concerns.

The Journey into Wholeness By Tamika Hilder

The journey of wholeness was one of going inward. I had been told to “go inward” by my mentors for over four years until I truly understood what they meant and the power of those words. That journey changed my life. And it was changed in the biggest most amazing way that no other healer, course or book ever could have done for me. I have been an intuitive healer for over a decade and have trained in almost every healing modality you can imagine. I was always such a great counsel for others and seemed to provide such a safe space for others to open, release their deepest pain and to heal. Others would see who they really were in the presence of me; they would see their potential as I would always see in them and their life would transform as a result of our work.

I became massively successful in business travelled the country speaking and inspiring others. My calendar was full with running my own events, 1 on 1 sessions and retreats. Yet inside, I was lacking fulfillment despite my outward success, burnt out and I could not get it together in love attracting the wrong menIssue for me artinzene/ #6 over and over.

Little did I know that the sexual abuse from my past had caused me to become numb to my body, my feelings and thus to life. Letting people get close to my heart was scary as a I had a deep fear of abandonment, being hurt and had internalized shame and worthlessness to the point that my cells were holding onto toxins and unable to fully receive nutrients. This made my extremely healthy lifestyle almost pointless as I was unable to receive the goodness I was giving my body. And my busy outward focused business “teacher” persona was a way to distance myself others, as well as avoid facing my own feelings. I was unconsciously preventing my own healing out of fear of truly facing my own feelings. I had experienced thyroid issues my entire life so was well aware of the ancestral and past life threads I’d brought into this life around my expression and had journeyed for 14 years to get to the bottom of those threads. My attempt to heal my body failed over and over and my health issues just got worse as that led to adrenal fatigue. Once this fatigue set in, I was forced to stop working and knew it was time.

health I handed over my business to a friend, and she took over the teaching of all my programs, and eventually the business itself. And I went inward! I spent between 2-5 hours each day in meditation with breath work and other body-centred processes with the aim of reconnecting to my body and myself. The 5 years of prior sacred feminine practices and tantric work was incorporated into my self-practice and helped me immensely to connect to the unprocessed pain, trauma and feelings that were stuck in my body. As the numbness dissolved, pain surfaced, and I would sit with it and feel it fully. Some days I would just cry. I experienced some of my darkest moments as the old energy released. I allowed myself a compassionate space to feel whatever arose and loved it till it dissolved. This was a process that lasted approximately 12 months. I would run healing energy and love through my adrenals, thyroid and every cell of my body. The Universe provided me with the right practitioners at the right time to show me the next layer to my block to self-

love and I eventually taught my cells how to receive love and nutrients and to release the toxins that were held there. As I healed, some days I felt as though I were physically dying. It was quite a journey that required me to really trust. My body however, finally began to heal. I practiced baring my soul (my feelings) with complete vulnerability and let my friends and family know the process I was going through so they could support me. With each public share I made, no longer held back by my fear of judgment, I felt a piece of my soul be freed. The suppression I had carried for what felt like lifetimes began to melt away and it felt like light was able to penetrate my body. I had no idea just how blocked I had been to the expression of my true self and my creative power until I started this process. The process was simply to feel, acknowledge, love unconditionally, and express what I felt. Through this process, I went deeper and deeper and deeper. And I felt freer and freer and freer. It was my path to liberation and I continue with this journey even now.

health Connecting deeply with myself initiated many self-realisations and visions that would come mainly through my dreams. Insight that I had previously sought via psychics or intuitive healers was now being shown to me via me. I loved it! I felt very connected to myself. It was a great feeling. My intuition expanded and my sense of selfworth and fulfillment increased significantly. Being connected to my feelings allowed me access to what my soul truly desired and so my choices reflected what brought me the most joy. This led to me create a life I loved and to finally enjoy this crazy, miraculous human experience on this incredibly abundant planet. Slowly, but surely, my soul’s tank filled back up. This journey inward of loving myself and every little piece of me that I connected to brought me into a place of wholeness. It’s not like my emotions ceased and I became robot-like. I remained human with all my feelings, yet found a grounded way to stand in my truth and express my truth that honoured me. I felt enough as I was. And the acceptance of this human journey in all it’s messiness allowed a sense of peace, contentment and definitely a sense of joy to be experienced in my day-to-day experience.

This inner journey birthed an entirely difference body of work that I have called The Path of The Goddess. Part way through this journey I received a download around the suppression of the feminine and the resulting issues we are having in women and men as a result. My journey had very much reflected that suppression and I was show that my soul had prepared for this time on the planet and for this work and my journey was training and preparation, if you like. The Path of the Goddess is a healing pathway takes women from the place of the insecure, needy, little girl who is seeking love externally to the empowered woman who feels loved, seen and heard and finally to the place of the embodied Goddess; the divine feminine embodied who is able to create the reality her heart desires. My programs are run from Bali and Australia and are deeply healing, transformational and awakening and I feel blessed to support women in their awakening. It’s a journey that Western women need to be initiated into as we have often been influenced by wounded parents and role-models who never embodied wholeness and unconditional love. So we need to outsource this learning so that we may become our potential in this life and experience the joy and love that is possible for us to feel. Our world is in desperate need of loving people to create a new world based in love, unity and peace. This is the feminine way. As women, we have the potential to be love embodied beings vibrating at such a high frequency and manifesting very easily due to our creative power. Women are not aware of the incredible leaders they can become, and the impact they can have on their children, partner, friends and clients when they do this healing work and awaken their divine feminine. It is time and what the world desperately needs.

Poetry My Life is a Sitcom by Shaun d'Souza My life is a sitcom. Full of errors, and drama that I tend to avoid like coffee, commitment and cats. Sometimes you will watch me intently, shake your head at my decisions and snicker. Some other times you - will submit yourself to the floor for a mad laugh. Because, I live a lot in my head, I am misinformed about...everything. And I fall in love very easily (collect Styrofoam cups that have ‘appealing’ designs) with anything.

Walter the Water Dragon by Sir Brambles Chapter 1, Part 1: Doubt All was peaceful and all was quiet that night on the riverbank. The moon was a little pale, perhaps a subtle lack of vitamin C, but nothing serious, as she did a pretty good job reflecting her image unto the gently wobbling water of the river. With her image came her light and this light was enough for the bank to bask in. All the animals that should be asleep were asleep and all the nocturnal ones, for whom nights are their days, had started their day which is of course night. Everything was as it should be. Well surely not everything, because then we wouldn’t have a story to tell and those first couple of lines, however nicely written (I know it’s not Shakespeare, but we should be thankful for that), would have never been published and you would be reading something else. If I am allowed to make a suggestion, don’t bother with Shakespeare. It was definitely not Shakespeare that Walter the water dragon was reading in his snug little bed. Because you see, not all animals that should be asleep were sleeping. I dare say even more, it didn’t even matter whether it was day or night, it was winter for crying out loud and that means hibernating.

But Walter was wide awake and he had been so for the past three days! You see a water dragon is a coldblooded animal, that certainly does not imply a lack of compassion and if you would think anything like that about Walter, you’d better go wash your little brain with salt water this instant! (I shall make sure the publisher encloses a little step by step plan on how to wash your brain with salt water, because it is a little more complicated than it sounds.) artinzene/ Issue #6


poetry No my dear reader, it merely means he is a creature that can merrily go on a long time without food or sleep as long as he preserves his energy by resting and keeping warm. Since it was hibernation time, Walter had done his normal preparations. He had his most cosy doona on his bed and on top of that doona he had another one and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that on top of the other one there was one more. Walter had three doonas, and surely he put the most cosy one on first, but he would feel very sorry for his two other doonas if they would have to miss out on hibernation, they all deserve a good rest was the logic behind this ritual. (Remember what I told you about the coldblooded thingy?) Of course Walter had eaten a massive load of grapes, as grapes are his most favourite thing in the whole wide world. In the morning he always woke up wishing it to be a grape day. He had his special hibernation sleeping gown, made of the finest black silk, with his matching sleeping hat, with a pompon in the shape of a grape. And last but not least, a book to help him fall asleep. As sleeping aides go, there is nothing better than some nicely written words on yellowing pages that some obscure person wrote a long time ago and that have nearly been forgotten by all, until you open the cover and the letters that have been waiting in the darkness with no one to keep them company, but the dirty fingerprints and dried up boogers the last reader left behind, jump at your eyeballs with just one mission: To suck the life right out of you before you decide to close it again. You can’t blame them for that. Imagine that you were stuck somewhere in a dark place for a couple of years and all of a sudden someone got you out, you would probably chat the ears right of their head. Well at least that was how Walter thought of it and he had found that they came in handy whenever he needed to go into his well deserved winter-super-nap. But this time he didn’t fall asleep, on the contrary his eyes opened wider and wider with every page he read. He felt like the pupils in his eyes had dilated to the size of dinner plates, which is a quite a sight to behold on an elephant, and even more so on a fieldmouse, a water dragon is somewhere in between those two, probably a little closer to a fieldmouse. But anyway, he didn’t go to a mirror to check whether or not his eyeballs were going to pop out of their sockets or if a three course meal could be served on his pupils, his eyes stayed firmly fixed on his book. By now you are probably 85 wondering what this book was about. ARTINZENE / Issue #6

Well it was no book about the secrets of the universe, and not a book on popular French etiquette in the late 17th century, not even a book on grapes! It was quite simply a book about dragons... Magnificent creatures that could fly and spit fire, creatures with a strong will and treasures and adventures and too much to mention here, because this is not that book. If you want to know more about dragons go to the library or a fantasy convention or watch Game of thrones, this is an entirely different story. But it had Walter’s attention in a vice grip. Every page they soared and spat fire and every page little Walter’s heart was beating a little bit faster in his scaly chest. Sometimes the grape shaped pompon of his sleeping hat started swinging in all directions as his body trembled with excitement.

After a nonstop reading session of four days and four nights (it was quite a hefty book, in no way am I implying Walter is a slow reader, anyone else who would begin reading this exquisite piece of dragonesque proportions would probably need a couple of haircuts done or buy at least seven new I-phones ere they could get through the whole bloody thing...), Walter closed the book, cuddled it in his arms as he let his head fall into his soft mountain of pillows, his grape shaped pompon nearly taking out one of his dinner plates. We’re evolving. No matter what you think we’re part of a continually evolving planet wide experiment called life. Every moment of every day were immersed In a conversation life is having a conversation with us- you, me, all of us together. Whether we’re having our attention grabbed by global events, a tiny bug making its way across a footpath, the argument we’re having with our girlfriend, or a micro moment where were stopped by wonder, disgust or disbelief. It’s all a conversation. It’s being willing and knowing how to engage in the dialogue that is important. Mostly we’re not awake to the invitations embodied in the moments where we’re shaken awake. We often rolling around in emotional reactivity and being entertained by the mental gymnastics of blame, gain or pain. We miss the possibility of having the real, life expanding conversation that life wants to have with us. What if we started to listen and talk back, chat, engage?

Here’s the thing the conversation you think you’re having with life maybe isn’t the conversation life is having with you. The conversation life is having with you is going on at a different level than at the level of your conscious mind. It’s happening in a way deeper place where your energy is at play in the field of flow. You’ve got to be prepared to step beyond the known into the imaginative and feeling realms. Here reality is somehow liminal, mutable. It flows beyond the known into the terrain of the possible. To really engage in the conversation you have to connect with things at a symbolic level. You have to listen to the symbol’s voice not your own. We want to step out of the same old everyday, narrative. That voice just keeps us spinning our wheels in the same old grooves of fear and want. Life wants us to grow into our aliveness. It’s providing us with every opportunity to wake up and inquire how! So yesterday the waves were talking to me. To hear the evolutionary conversation all I have to do is step into the role Nature is inviting me into by grabbing my attention. We do that by stepping out of looking at the object and analytically trying to understand what is going one. We have to step into becoming that object. We then talk to our self as if we were that thing and speak with its voice.

I show you how I do it. In my case I had to become the wave and speak to myself as if I was the wave. What this wave is going to say is unknown to me. So here goes “ I’m a wave, a fresh, clean ,transparent, moving crest of energy. I’m a thing of joy, a thing of play. The fish are slicing through the water enjoying the thrill of the swell, the movement. So are the surfers and the dolphins. Today I’m delight. I have the light shining through me. I am going to break against the shore but that’s not the important thing for you to be seeing right now. I want to say to you be light, be playful, enjoy the swelling movements, tides, the glide of the ride. Know your connected, part of a great ocean of love that’s welling up in joy to meet those more solid parts of you, to wear what doesn’t need to be there gently away. Relax, enjoy, smile.” So that’s the message my unconscious can tap for me. It’s a good message because I can get too intense, fixated on what’s wrong with the world and what I have to do to change it. If I live from a place of more joy, with a lightness of being things move along much more sweetly and I accomplish my goals with much more flow.

For you. Find something that grabs your attention. It might be a little figurine, a poster, a thing in nature. Lend it your voice and ask what it wants you to hear from the great flow today. Just start talking to yourself in your mind as if you were that thing. Even better grab a piece of paper and just let your hand write. Don’t censor anything. Start off describing yourself, your characteristics, your qualities. Really let yourself explore the felt sense of them, with all of your senses, get the feeling tone of your conversation partner. When you have a good feel of the energy and qualities of that thing just ask ‘what message do you want me to hear today’? Listen. Do the exercise with a friend. It can lead to some great conversations. The important thing is to step beyond the known. Life is there wanting to support you into the expression of your deepest being and possibility. Even if it seems dark. Life moves toward the light, i.e., if you’re prepared to make the changes its asking of you. If not you’ll keep on getting the same old message until it gets through your defences or self-conceit. Breakdown or breakthrough – life’s not too fussy about the choice. We are. New Online Shopping Mall Biggest in Australia

The Aussie Mega Mall, which opened its Australian training centre on May 12 on the Gold Coast, is the biggest online shopping mall in Australia. The brainchild of astute businessmen, CEO Darryl Reeves and IT/ sales manager Neil Fairhead, the Aussie Mega Mall has more than 3,500 Australian shops that can be browsed through in ‘aisles online’. It’s very convenient, will save people a lot of time and money plus help the environment as there will be a lot less vehicles on the road.” Mr Reeves said people who worked in the creative arts often did not have a great online presence and could use the mall like their website. “A lot of people don’t have a website – and even when they do, they may be getting very little traffic to it. We provide an interface between their website and the Aussie Mega Mall and may provide the potential precious browsing customer traffic they need.”


According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 52.9% of Australian businesses do not have websites. “There are seven million Australian online shoppers today and 45,000 online stores,” Mr. Fairhead said, quoting a Swinburne University of Technology study. The introduction of smart phones (in 2007) and tablets (in 2010) has changed the way people shop. “When the first iPhone came out in January 2007, nine per cent of the population had bought online. In 2015, 87 per cent had bought online. 53 per cent of Australian shoppers shop on a smart phone or tablet and that is why we made every store look and work like an app in the Aussie Mega Mall.” This means you don’t need a mouse or computer. Everything can be accessed by touch screen.

Mr. Fairhead said the mall was by Australians for Australians. “Today, you could be living in Perth and could buy from someone in Cairns and that’s your local shop,” he said. People with eBay stores, who drop ship overseas products or have above PGrated products will not be accepted on the site. “We really want to support Australian businesses in Australia – we’re very particular about who comes on,” Mr Reeves said. “We are keeping it Australian because Australia has been through a fairly challenging period. “A lot of small businesses are struggling and people are buying offshore. We decided we want to give the small business owner all the support we can.” 97 ARTINZENE / Issue #6


The company is also very passionate about increasing employment in the community and empowering people to start their own businesses. They currently employ 8 people and have four contractors. They plan to employ 50 people by the end of this year in Australia. “We are creating a lot of jobs, putting a lot of people into business, giving them freedom and dignity,” Mr Reeves said.

While anyone can list their online store for free, there are 15 premium paid spots available in each category. Listings can have digital brochures, their own daily deals, coupon codes and access to Aussie Mega Mall membership for extra promotion and discounted products. All the free and paid listings are on page 1. Unlike Google, where businesses are struggling to get on page 1, with the Aussie Mega Mall, all businesses are listed on page 1 for their aisle or category and gain SEO (search engine optimisation) benefits. “Many businesses can be Skyped directly from the site,” Mr Reeves said.

“We’re the only business Skype directory anywhere as far as I know.” Upcoming features include social media links, listings for offline businesses, professionals and B2Bs (Business to Business), a marketplace, auction site, classifieds, loyalty points and an Aussie Mega Mall app.
