The production consists of two different programmes of accessible, entertaining and inspiring dance with guest artist, Dane Hurst, winner of Critics Circle Best Male Dancer of the year award 2014.

The Girls

Tells the story of four little girl orphans and their fixation with the dead. The story takes place in a tiny village. The only cemetery that exists separates the villagers from the orphans’ dwelling. Here, there are rules and regulations for how to conduct burials, rules which are monitored and constantly reinforced. The girls continue to defy these rules and their defiance comes at a price, one they are made to pay.

The Girls deals with the abduction of school girls in the north of Uganda by a rebel army, the LRA, under leadership of Joseph Kony. It tells the true story about the abduction of the 149 schoolgirls from Aboke. One of the abducted girls and one of the child soldiers escape and try to find their way back home. When in 2014 again school girls were abducted in Nigeria by Boko Haram, the producers of The Girls realise nothing changed and will not change unless we keep telling real stories and bringing those who are affected to life on stage. That is what The Girls does. An international award winner. It won awards in Europe (the Netherlands), Uganda and last year a standing ovation award at NAF in Grahamstown.

The Parlotones Orchestrated

Fiela se Kind

After a successful 2015 which saw The Parlotones complete 3 successful tours of South Africa as well as a tour of Europe, The Parlotones are pleased to announce their first instalment of 2016, ‘The Parlotones Orchestrated.’ This will see the band take their hits to venues across the country together with a chamber ensemble.

By incorporating the chamber ensemble, The Parlotones hope to display contemporary yet classical versions of their extensive discography whilst still treating fans to everything they have grown to love about the Parlotones in a welcoming and energetic offering. Conductor & Composer Brendan Jury Presented by The Project Room Events (Pty) Ltd and sponsorsed by TicketPro & Mnet

La Bohème in District Six La Bohème means “The Bohemians” and District Six was well known for its Bohemian atmosphere, a place where South African artists of all colours and religions could mix freely to share ideas and grow a collective culture in opposition to the Apartheid regime. La Bohème in District Six honours and celebrates the heritage of this important South African space and era through the lens of a classic opera storyline by Puccini. Katie se storie is nie uniek nie. Of haar liefde vir geskiedenis?
