Your formidable shaven headed priests And resplendent queens that held Emperors’ hearts to ransom Have left behind pictorial puzzles And scattered memories That modern man and their super computers Are yet to fathom or decipher.

Meantime under the blazing sun Upon the burning sands The pyramids taunt us with their solemn silence, And a broken-nosed Pharaonic lion Smiles smugly at our wonder And fascinated Ignorance.
