FIRE SAFETY

Please review the location of exits, alarms, and fire equipment on your floor as soon after check-in as is practical. A copy of your guest floor plan is located near the door of your guest room. Also, know how to open and close your guest room window if designed to do so.

IN CASE OF FIRE:

• Keep your room key with you at all times.

• Use the stairs to exit, not the elevators.

• Guests who need assistance should go to the elevator lobby on their floor and depress the red button on the “help phone.”

• Stay low in smoky areas.

• Remain calm.

IF THE FIRE IS IN YOUR ROOM:

• Leave the room and close the door.

• Activate the nearest alarm box, if possible.

• Call the hotel operator on the nearest phone by pressing 0 and specify the location of the fire.

• Go to the nearest stairwell and walk down to the ground floor.

IF THE FIRE IS OUTSIDE YOUR ROOM:

• Take your room key with you.

• Touch the door handle and frame to see if they are hot. If they are not, open the door carefully, keeping low as you do so.

• If possible, go to the nearest stairwell and go down to exit the building or enter a safe floor.

IF THE DOOR IS HOT:

• Stay in your room; keep the door shut.

• Turn off the air conditioner.

• Fill the bathtub with water so you have a water supply.

• Place wet towels along the bottom of the door and over any vents where there is smoke.

• Press 0 to let the hotel operator know your location.

• Stay below any smoke in the room.

• Stay calm.

GREEN PRACTICES

Our hotel team is committed to taking sustainability into consideration in all aspects of our hotel. We know the impact our efforts can make in preserving our natural resources and believe in incorporating sustainability practices. In this effort we have:

• Established a hotel environmental policy that is supported by the ownership of the hotel.

• A Green Task Force consisting of hotel employees that reviews and improves our sustainability programs.

• Departmental Specific Green checklists to support our environmental efforts.

Please join us in our effort. The following are some things you can do in your guest room:

• Please place the “Help Preserve the Planet” card on your bed each morning. This will inform our housekeeping team to not remove and wash the bed linens, helping to preserve water and chemical use.

• Place your used towels on the towel rack each day. Again, this will inform our housekeeping team to not wash the towels, helping to preserve water and chemical use.

• Turn lights and other electronics off when not in use or when you leave your room.

• Open your windows at appropriate times to help curb the use of heating and air conditioning equipment.

The following are just a few of the many sustainability initiatives our hotel takes to help conserve resources.

• The hotel uses solar generation panels on it’s rooftop, generating 20 KW of electrical power.

• Trash is separated (bottles, cans, paper, tin, aluminum, etc.) for recycling purposes.

• In areas where practical, lights are controlled with timers or occupancy sensors.

• The laundry detergents used allow for the use of low temperature water in the laundering process.

• The bathroom amenities (shampoo, lotion, soaps) are natural botanical extracts free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and more. The packaging (bottles) are biodegradable. The soap formulas are natural vegetable, and no animal testing is done with these products.

• 97.5% of the hotel’s lighting is through the use of energy efficient light bulbs.

• Fluorescent lighting and electronics are disposed of with sustainability practices in mind.

• Guest room towels, hand towels, and washcloths are made from recycled cotton.

• In-room ice buckets and amenity trays are made from natural compostable materials.

We welcome your input. Let us know if there is something you see that we could do better with our sustainability practices.
