On the cover of this edition of the Shark Tale, you have your newly elected Lieutenant Governor, Ayane Kawaai, a Junior at Gig Harbor High School, and Tyler Bosser, the newly elected Lieutenant Governor of Division 35, a Sophomore at Clover Park High School. I wanted to feature this two on the cover of the newsletter to symbolize a bittersweet end to this year but an amazing beginning to a new one, and we already have a head start! In this edition, I have included the farewell from myself, and your divisional editor, as well as a few words from the incoming Lieutenant Governor. To all of my amazing Sharks, It has been an amazing year with you all. I have enjoyed the laughter we shared, the memories we made, and the bonds we strengthened. I am so blessed to have experienced being a Lieutenant Governor as well as serving all of you beautiful, hilarious, and great people. All of my favorite memories were our DCMs in the summer and our joint DCMs. It was when we all first met and got to know each other. I remember when we played Animal Handshake and Atoms, we had a BBQ, and it was absolutely so much fun. I wish I would’ve done so many more things with you all, but unfortunately it is my time to go as LtG. I definitely hope that my efforts throughout my term have left a mark on you all.
My only wish is for you all to stay involved in Key Club. I want you to keep your passion for service and leadership burning strong. I want you stay in contact with each other and become greater friends. All the memories we’ve made this year should never go to waste, so I only ask that you cherish them, and keep that connection strong. I thank you so very much for the best year of my life. So what I enjoyed this year was everything. This year I learned so much about the divisional side of Key Club; of how there’s more to Key Club than Key Club at school. I learned a lot of new things. I volunteered more and more due to the divisional side. This year was actually crazy. DCM’s to rallies were the best since everyone was like a family. I never knew about this side until our beloved LTG Tina told us about it. Always shark it out! What I’m looking forward to is.. DCON 2014! I don’t know what is going to happen, but I just know it’s going to be turnt up.
I definitely enjoyed working with Thavy this year! He has been an incredible amount of support and help. His spirit, commitment, and pride for Key Club is what I love, and what I would dream to see develop in many more Key Clubbers! Thank you for an amazing year! - LTG Tina
Why did you join Key Club? During freshman year, a friend of mine told me how much Key Club meant to him and so during club rush I decided to join. Although I've been a member since freshman year, I wasn't that involved at the time. However it wasn't until my sophomore year, when I transferred schools. Key Club was the place where I felt like I was welcomed and I always looked forward to Key Club meetings and events. I was also elected treasurer of my club. So transferring schools was definitely hard for me, but Key Club was an opportunity to meet amazing people and serve the community as well.
My goals: My goals for the division this year is to become close with one another and form a more family like division. As my friend, Frankie from D4W in CNH Key Club said, "This club is much more than a club, it's my ohana, it's basically my life..." I would like all of division 34 to become Ohana, where no one is left behind My second goal is have more fun DCMs where we always have something to do; whether it is working on a service project, fun games, potlucks, or joint DCMs.
DCON is the annual District Convention where all the divisions in the Pacific Northwest District come down to one area and celebrate service and their passion for Key Club! This year we are bring about 30 lucky attendees from Division 34. Division 34 is granted FRONT ROW SEATING at DCON because of the District Governor is from our division! DCON is April 4—April 6. The convention will have a special performance by Joseph Vincent. The election of the new executive board will happen this weekend as well.

The Pacific Northwest District has not only reached their goal of $24,000 for the Eliminate Project, they SURPASSED IT. We have raised a net total of $80,778.40! The PNW District asks that you make a final push on the Eliminate Project. Fundraise, spread awareness, or celebrate that we’ve exceeded our district goal!
As of March 9, 2014, Key Club International has raised $2,112,328.92. The Kiwanis-family Service Leadership Programs have raised $2,654,801.68 in total funds. Laos has eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus on December 13, 2013. Sierra Leone and Gabon eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus on September 16, 2013. Cote de I’vore eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus on May 18, 2013. Iraq eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus on May 9, 2013. There are still 25 countries with maternal and neonatal tetanus. 16 in Africa, 4 in the Middle East, 1 in the Americas, and 4 in the Asian Pacific. Although, there have been 34 countries that have eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus.
