What’s up Sharks! I would like to say that not only have we reached our goal for March of Dimes, we have exceeded it! So what I’m expecting out of you guys is to bring that hard work and enthusiasm to Relay for Life! It’s the last month of the school year so give it all you’ve got. There’s still Key Club work to be done during the summer—and that includes Tacoma Rally! There will still be DCMs during the summer as well as service projects I would like you all to attend. So please be sure to keep in close contact with me throughout the summer! Thank you all! With love and service,

Athena Sok

Hey guys, I'm Thavy Thach! Your New Divisional Editor for PNW Key Club Division 34! I'm currently representing Division 34, Henry Foss Key Club, and everything I love as well! As I now am Division Editor of Division 34, I will try - I mean I will do my best as a editor for the whole Division by keeping all local Key Clubbers updated with monthly newsletters and ideas you might use within your local Key Club! What am I looking forward to this year? I'm looking forward to inspiring new recruits on what Key Club is all about as well as establishing my position as Divisional Editor by putting my mind to good use with all of you! I'm excited to work with all of you who are around Tacoma and especially our Lieutenant Governor Athena Sok! I will also like to thank Key Club and Division 34 for this position because it has shaped my character in the long run. Thank you!

Thavy Thach

One baby dies every 9 minutes from MNT

160 babies die each day from MNT

38 countries remain at high risk for MNT

Kiwanis will help save or protect more than 61 million mothers and their future babies

On average, health education and a series of three doses of tetanus vaccine cost $1.80

The Eliminate Project is a joint project with Kiwanis and UNICEF to internationally terminate MNT. In 30 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of childbirth into tragedy. Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every nine minutes—nearly 60,000 newborn children every year. It will take $110 million—and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family. Our goal as a district is $24,000. With each member contributing $2, this goal can definitely be achieved. Like the Facebook Page: PNW Eliminate Project

Interested in volunteering? If you are interested in volunteering at the event rather than walking, contact our Team Captain, Nina Thach, at nthach8283@smail.pcd.edu. Volunteers get free t-shirts. Youth Agreement Forms are also required for volunteers, but they are due the day of Relay for Life.

Team Name: PNW Tiger Sharks Team Goal: $1500 Team Captain: Nina Thach Relay for Life is coming up quick! Continue to keep up the good work with raising money. Raising up to $100 will earn you a Relay for Life t-shirt! If you have not turned in your Youth Forms, you may stay until 10 PM on June 14th, and return at 8 AM on the 15th. There are no exceptions; you are not aloud to be on the school ground 10 PM—8 AM if you have not turned in your Youth Agreement Form. The person or club that raises the most money will receive a special prize from the team captain! First place prize: A GIANT TEDDY BEAR! Second place prize: A big teddy bear Third place prize: A small teddy bear All prizes also include a Relay for Life cup and a certificate of how much you raised.

Early registration is highly encouraged in order for you to get the best deal available! Our goal as a division is to bring at least 70 people, (10 people from each club), but the more the merrier!

WILSON KEY CLUB deserves the spotlight for this month because they took on the difficult task of running a team for not only one division, but TWO divisions, for March of Dimes. The team they started exceeded the goals we’ve set and has done greater than what we have planned, thanks to their amazing service and hard work. They have also been so active and involved within the division, it sets a perfect example for all the other clubs to follow! Give thanks to Wilson’s hard work this past month!
