THROW A PARTY! Children’s Birthday Parties Chastain Arts Center offers private birthday parties for children! An art party is an exciting and creative way to celebrate a special occasion for young Picassos. You simply select a party type from one of our specialty classes: painting, drawing, mixed-media, or jewelrymaking. A party at Chastain Arts Center is the perfect place to have your special event. 20 Just bring cake, snacks, decorations, and yourself! We will provide the rest.

YOUTH ARTS CLASSES A materials fee is included in most youth class fees. Art can be messy, so children should wear old clothing to class. Classes meet for 10 weeks, unless otherwise noted. Please note the Chastain Arts Center will be closed Saturday, May 23, 2020, and Monday, May 25, 2020 in observance of Memorial Day. Class supply lists are available at OCAAtlanta.com/Chastain-artsupply-lists or in the main office. NEW! EARLY PAINTERS CLASS (WITH ADULT) Cheyanne Lemons Wed. 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Mar. 25 – May 27 Fee: $120 This course will allow parents to bond with their children while being creative and gain an appreciation and deeper understanding of themselves and their children through creative expression. All activities will be fun and interactive with children’s cognitive thinking skills challenged and molded using more hands-on projects. Ages 5-7 NEW! YOUNG PAINTERS CLASS Cheyanne Lemons Thu. 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Mar. 26 – May 28 Fee: $120 This course will allow students to acquire a deeper understanding of themselves through creative expression and respect for the artistic process. Students will learn everything from the stylization of renaissance Art to modern artists such as Hebru Brantley. Mediums will range from acrylic painting, charcoal drawing, and watercolor painting. Ages 8-10 PRE-TEEN/TEEN ARTS CLASSES NEW! INTRODUCTION TO CERAMIC HANDBUILDING Aleisha Ellis Sat. 10:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Mar. 28 – May 30 Fee: $160 During this course, students will learn the basics of handbuilding using techniques ranging from pinching, coiling, and slab building. These skills can be used to create a variety of functional objects: vases, cups, bowls, etc. Students will also learn how to create textures and designs on their pieces as well as get learn different glazing techniques, thus developing their own personal creativity. NEW! TEEN ILLUSTRATORS CLASS Cheyanne Lemons Tue. 4:45 P.M. – 5:45 P.M. Mar. 24 – May 26 Fee: $160 This course is a drawing and illustration focused class. Students will go in depth

into the fundamentals of illustration and use of the mediums for drawing and sketching. Ideas of depth and foreground will be introduced, and students will become adept at having a steady hand while illustrating. Students will use many mediums such as charcoal, graphite, and ink. Every week will have a different focus based on a specific artist or artistic time. ADULT VISUAL ARTS CLASSES Classes meet for 10 weeks, unless otherwise noted. Mar. 26 – May 28 Fee: $210 Learn how to use line, tone, and texture to draw convincing, three-dimensional forms. No previous experience is necessary. Please bring a drawing board, an 18”x24” newsprint pad, #2B pencil, soft vine charcoal, and pink Pearl eraser to the first class. Additional materials will be discussed the first day of class. FIGURE DRAWING Ben Smith Wed. 6:30 P.M. – 9:30 P.M. Mar. 25 – May 27 Fee: $210 Fri. 10:30 A.M. – 1:30 P.M. Mar. 27 – May 29 Fee: $210 Draw from a nude model. Learn to enhance line quality and gain a deeper understanding of figure-environment relationships. All levels welcome. Bring an 18"x 24" newsprint pad, #2B pencil, Pink Pearl eraser, conte crayon, soft vine charcoal, and kneaded eraser to class. A model fee of approximately $60 – $80 will be collected from each student. www.bensmithart.com. FIGURE DRAWING Dolores Kennedy Sat. 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Mar. 28 – May 30 Fee: $190 Basic instruction in proportion, anatomy, and "sighting" for beginners, in addition to ongoing critiques and assignments for more advanced students. Students work from nude models. All levels welcome. A model fee of approximately $60 – $80 will be collected from each student at the first class.
