Dynamic Dynaudio targets installers

Welcome to our yearly speaker supplement, EI has to confess, one of our favourites. Where would we be without the humble speaker? Or the not so humble ones come to that. Essentially a really simple device that delivers sound to the ear of the listener, speakers open up a myriad of worlds and experiences, perhaps more than any other device in the AV world. Speakers, from a small tinny one on a phone, to a £150k’s worth of full on Hi-Fi magic, to discrete integrated cinema models, all have the power to change lives. Thankfully, we don’t have to talk about tinny phone speakers here, we get to talk about some of the very best in the business; we hope you enjoy our romp through some top-quality ear pleasers.

AWE ensures your customers can enjoy the ultimate home listening experience by providing the perfect speaker solution for any project size and budget. Definitive Technology

Definitive Technology offers a wide choice of designs

The leading premium speaker brand in the USA, Definitive Technology loudspeakers combine sophistication and precision, producing forward-thinking on-wall, architectural, floorstanding, bookshelf, and outdoor speakers. The Mythos XTR Series of on-wall speakers are a stand out in the range, providing the best ultra-slim wall mounted speakers in the world. The market-leading premium option has a fantastically slight physical depth of just 38mm, matching the popular ultra-thin TV screens that many customers desire. Providing uncompromising sound quality and high definition detail, the Mythos XTR is set to follow the US lead and become a firm favourite with UK integrators who are looking to achieve a powerful audio setup and an aesthetically pleasing end result. The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatible BP9060 bipolar tower speaker with an integrated 10in powered subwoofer joins the line up at AWE. Featuring Forward Focussed Bipolar Array that offers the ultimate balance between room-filling sound and a precise centre image – whilst giving total placement flexibility, and Intelligent Bass Control that provides the ability to modulate deep bass up or down in level whilst simultaneously maintaining mid-range tonal balance – this speaker fills the room and allows the listener to hear and feel every note as the artist intended. Definitive Technology’s Di Series of architectural speakers are the perfect solution for providing clarity and performance. Their low-profile in-wall / in-ceiling speakers deliver a powerful result with even dispersion across a wide area, giving listeners a more balanced and natural audio experience. Rigid PolyStone baskets eliminate unwanted vibrations, whilst their micro-perf grilles and flush mounting minimise visibility, ensuring impressive sound quality without the visual intrusion of freestanding speakers.

The wide variety of subwoofers from Definitive Technology are designed to work in perfect harmony with the entire range to add a powerful, deep bass to any set-up. The compact SuperCube series combines digital amplifiers, Digital Signal Processors (DSP), and robust front-mounted drivers with additional bass radiators for immense performance versus their size.

KEF

Building on over 50 years of heritage, the KEF speaker range represents the ultimate in audiophile quality sound, and first-class design. The KEF R Series draws on decades of experience and KEF’s unbridled passion for music. The R Series, which includes the R11, R7, R5, R3, R8a, and R2c speaker options, feature bespoke technologies to deliver more detail, deeper insight, and greater excitement. R11 is the flagship speaker. Boasting four 165mm hybrid aluminium bass drivers, the R11 delivers an exceptionally clean and musical low-end performance. The 125mm midrange driver and 25mm aluminium dome tweeter combine to deliver an even more natural midrange and treble than believed possible at this price point. The result is a speaker that can pick out the softest details with grace and refinement, as well as deliver raw power and strength. Integrators can also access the KEF Ci5160REF-THX Full Range THX certified speaker via AWE, which is part of the Reference series of speakers. Developed with the ultimate in music and movie soundtrack performance in mind, the KEF Ci5160REF-THX combines gorgeous design with ease of installation. These ultimate in-wall speakers feature three key innovations drawn from KEF’s signature ‘Reference’ technology, including the most advanced version of the Uni-Q point source MF/HF driver array to give the speaker enhanced dispersion characteristics. Originally designed for the KEF Blade, this revolutionary technology gives the KEF Ci5160REF-THX the performance of a floor-standing unit, with all the aesthetic benefits of an in-wall speaker. With an iconic visual design and acoustic prowess, the KEF Blade Two speakers are a serious option for high end residential projects. Delivering distortion-free low frequency response, four powerful 6.5in bass drivers are integrated into these KEF speakers. They are side firing, which enables the acoustic centre to coincide with those of the all new, latest generation and highly acclaimed Uni-Q midrange driver and tweeter. Utilising advanced materials and innovative technologies in construction, the KEF Blade Two speakers feature KEF’s unique Single Apparent Source technology to produce the highest quality sound reproduction. The result means that the entire frequency range is radiated from one point in space. The new design is smaller in height and depth, configured to retain the integrity of

the iconic visual design and its acoustic ability whilst providing greater practicality over the original KEF Blade range. This means greater ease of installation when faced with smaller and more challenging spaces, freeing up living space for the customer.

Kinetik

Kinetik provides an affordable range of speakers to suit different installations and customer requirements. Targeted at the home technology sector, the compact, low profile, in-ceiling speakers from Kinetik provide top class performance and affordability. The range features five speakers, including the KISPE130-LP. This speaker boasts a two-way array design which includes a 130mm Polypropylene driver and 19mm tweeter. This centralised pivoting silk dome tweeter can be angled 30 degrees in any direction from the centre, thanks to its ball and socket design. This allows users to direct sound exactly where it is needed for any surround sound setup. An attractive ultra-low profile circular grille provides a great, neat finish, attaching magnetically, so that installation is as quick and easy as possible for the integrator. With dynamic sound, pristine clarity, and attractive aesthetics, the Kinetik KISP-E130-LP is the clear choice for all Integrators seeking a reliable and quality build at affordable prices. KEF’s iconic Blade Two speaker

added to deliver 1500 watts each of explosive, precise bass performance. AWE has used Definite Technology’s Ultimate InWall Reference Series speakers in a Dolby Atmos 7.4.4 configuration in the Performance Cinema Room. The speakers are fully enclosed units with a depth of less than 10cm, meaning they will fit in standard 4” stud walls, including the subwoofers – each of which houses two 10” drivers. KEF’s completely re-engineered R Series speakers are the main feature in the Music Room. The flagship R11 and standmount R3 are on show, delivering more detail, deeper insight, and greater excitement. The Living Room features the ultra slim Definitive Technology Mythos XTR speakers, which offer the highest quality sound in a cabinet that is even thinner than the ondisplay 65in Sony Master Series flagship television. Monitor marvels

Monitor Audio continues to develop its speaker line-up so installers can choose from a wide range of versatile sonic solutions.

Vecta V240-LV and V-Mount Bracket

4 x Vecta V240LV speakers and V-Cluster Bracket

CP-IW460X In-Wall Speaker

Monitor Audio has developed a truly innovative idea in the form of its Vecta Range which delivers an architectural weather resistant solution that offers versatility and simple installation in places where other speakers can’t reach. In both domestic and commercial locations, Vecta speakers can be wall-mounted, either horizontally or vertically or discreetly installed under eaves or straight on the corner. The new V240-LV speaker adds further versatility in commercial applications with 70/100V line level. To further expand the application options of the V240-LV speaker, Monitor Audio has launched the four-point cluster bracket, the V-Cluster. Using a ceiling-fan-mounting pole allows four V240-LVs to be slotted onto the V-Cluster bracket to form a sphere, providing 360° coverage. For true high-end integrated home cinema applications, there are the CPIW260X and CP-IW460X Perfomance in-wall designs made to deliver the natural, full range audio energy you would expect from a free-standing high-end box. Monitor Audio says it has distilled the know-how driving its Hi-Fi speakers into a super-compact in-wall format. Dedicated music lovers and home theatre fans can enjoy the rich, detailed, highimpact dynamics they crave, from a speaker that physically disappears.

The CP-IW260X and CP-IW460X use the company’s respected drive-unit technologies in compact three-way, five-driver configurations, built into closed-box designs. Behind their ‘stealthy’ grilles the CP-IW260X and CP-IW460X models offer high efficiency and power handling for class-leading sound pressure levels, combined with the dynamic wide-band response, deep bass extension and low distortion usually expected of specialised floorstanding speakers. Both feature Monitor Audio’s signature C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) cone material deployed in dual 6.5in bass drivers and twin 4in mids astride a tweeter in a symmetrical ‘B-M-T-M-B’ configuration. Used for the first time in a compact Monitor Audio inwall speaker, the range-topping CP-IW460X employs a version of the high frequency ribbon transducer from the Gold and flagship Platinum speaker lines. Being ultra-light and with no breakup, the ribbon displays extraordinary detail retrieval across a wide and linear response, which extends beyond 50kHz to reproduce neutral and natural high frequency performance. The ribbon can also be rotated to accommodate horizontal and vertical installation. The CP-IW260X uses a 1in Gold Dome tweeter, which employs a specially vented housing to reduce air pressure behind the dome for lower resonance, optimum damping and greater accuracy over a wider range. Further down the spectrum, bass and mid frequency fidelity from both the CP-IW260X and CP-IW460X is preserved by Monitor Audio’s ‘dished’ cone drivers. Devoid of the conventional centre pole-piece aperture, their radiating surfaces are formed from a continuous sheet of C-CAM, which contributes high rigidity at the centre of the cone. In concert with large motors, underhung voice coils and die-cast alloy chassis, the dished cone structure delivers low distortion and efficiency for deep, clean, dynamic bass and an open and expressive mid range. Complementing the response of its ribbon tweeter, the bass/mid drivers on the CP-IW460X are enhanced by Monitor Audio’s RST ‘dimpled’ cone technology, which uses concentric dimples to further strengthen their radiating surfaces, and the entire five-driver configuration is installed within a rigid die-cast metal baffle for more accurate and dynamic audio reproduction. These Controlled Performance designs use a sophisticated twenty-three element crossover, comprising low loss inductors and high-grade polypropylene capacitors. Offering one of the most diverse and accomplished ranges around, it’s certainly worth keeping an ear out for what Monitor Audio does next. Monitor Audio 01268 740 580, monitoraudio.com

Speakers | Meridian Audio

New in-wall loudspeakers from Meridian are discrete, but powerful

Make it Meridian

Boasting outstanding design and performance, Meridian’s range of loudspeakers challenge conventions and redefine how people experience sound. Meridian believes that the listener should feel every emotion. It’s this experience that shapes not just the company’s philosophy but its whole approach to innovation in the home technology sector. Evolved and perfected for over 25 years, Meridian’s digital signal processing (DSP) technology has the capability to capture the authenticity of live performances and accurately replicate this back to the listener. Perfect for theatres, distributed audio, and music systems, Meridian’s DSP loudspeakers deliver a powerful, authentic audio performance in any room size thanks to a range of built-in technologies that ensure great sounding, reliable audio, every time.

New architectural in-wall loudspeakers At ISE 2019, Meridian introduced two new in-wall loudspeakers to its architectural loudspeaker line-up, enabling integrators to deliver the authentic, superior audio performance that customers want for their home cinema or media room installations. Characterised by their high SPL’s and strong bass performance capabilities, the new DSP640.2 and DSP520.2 In-Wall Loudspeakers are the first to be powered by the new Meridian ‘Class-M’ DSP engine. frequencies, and the built-in Dynamic bass protection technology maximises bass extension, achieving the finest possible audio outcome. Both models are also the first to integrate Meridian’s ‘Dynamic’ Hi-Res amplifiers, for renowned audio quality in a wide range of installation applications. Each drive unit is driven by a pair of powerful, high bandwidth, ultra-HD amps for guaranteed performance and complete control, exceeding the hi-res audio standard. The amplifier’s high mass toroidal transformer is electrically screened, potted, and optimised for the lowest possible mechanical noise, whilst post filter feedback delivers lower output noise and improved total harmonic distortion (THD), allowing even the smallest details to be heard. This new feature also provides greater control, accurate detail, and precise spatial resolution. The DSP640.2 in-wall loudspeaker features eight power amplifiers delivering 100W per drive unit and L + R mode for the ultimate, high-power soundbar applications. It’s capable of delivering over 105dB over 4m, providing full range sound with bass extension down to 40Hz, together with Meridian’s on-board Enhanced Bass Alignment that aligns high, mid, and upper bass frequencies with the low bass for added clarity. Meridian’s proprietary Centre Elevation technology raises the perceived image location from an under-screen loudspeaker so that it appears to come from the centre of the screen, resulting in lifelike and spacious sound. With a range of other enhancement technologies including FIFO buffering, DSP upsampling, apodising filters, and MHR (Meridian High Resolution) built-in, the DSP640.2 can be used as a full-range loudspeaker with no need for an additional subwoofer, offering greater flexibility and the best possible performance from all digital sources. Meanwhile, the DSP520.2 In-Wall Loudspeaker boasts an all-new quad-amp DSP design with four powerful amplifiers delivering 100W per drive unit. L+R mode technology ensure the true reproduction of all the audio present in a stereo recording when a single loudspeaker is used on its own, whilst delivering bass extension down to 50Hz for full range sound. The DSP520.2 features 1 x 140mm long throw bass driver and 1 x 85mm wide-range driver for full-frequency response, maximum dispersion, and wide listening area. It also comes equipped with the latest on-board Meridian technologies including Centre Elevation. With a mounting depth of just 100mm, both the DSP640.2 and DSP520.2 loudspeakers are perfect for delivering discrete yet impactful sound in any home cinema or media room application. Their sleek, slim profile and frame system allows for easy installation and precise positioning on almost any type of wall, whilst the grille can be painted to blend seamlessly into any interior.

Delivering superior audio performance

Meridian’s flagship special edition DSP8000 Digital Active Loudspeakers are the perfect solution for any cinematic or musical experience, in any room size. Containing integral DACs, pre-amplifiers, power amplifiers, and builtin high efficiency digital crossovers, the floor standing DSP8000SEs produce breath-taking sound. Enhanced bass alignment (EBA) technology delivers exceptional bass and full-range audio performance, which results in a perfectly aligned immersive experience where all ranges of sound reach the listener at one time.

Meridian’s DSP320 in-wall / in-ceiling architectural loudspeaker has the capability to deliver peerless audio performance, whilst saving significant time, cost, and space for integrators working on whole home, superyacht, cinema, and single media room projects. Within its 300mm square and 100mm deep enclosure, the DSP320 contains all the system’s electronics, including digital audio converters and two integral, powerful 80W class amplifiers for wide-range and bass drivers. Meridian’s DSP approach provides unparalleled performance from a small design, making the DSP320 capable of predictable and repeatable performance and perfect for a wide variety of in-wall and in-ceiling applications. It also eliminates the need for any amplification within the equipment rack, not only saving space but also reducing power and thermal management requirements and improving system reliability. The Meridian M6 Digital Active loudspeaker is a visually stunning loudspeaker. Activated from the Digital Channel Selector switch, Meridian’s unique ‘mono’ mode technology sums signals from the left and right channels so that the M6’s signature sound can be achieved from just one single loudspeaker. Both the left and right channels are summed so that none of the information is lost, ensuring premium audio quality even in modest-sized homes.

Showing their support

Meridian’s complimentary Design and Specification Service integrates all of its partners’ technology to make it quicker and easier for integrators to specify the right products for the perfect installation. To utilise this service, integrators need to simply discuss upcoming projects with Meridian’s design experts who will then take care of the rest, producing detailed wiring diagrams and a precise room plan showing where the speakers should be positioned, as well as the projector, acoustic panelling and projection screen if necessary. Integrators also have the option to create their own instant cinema and media room designs using the award-winning The CEDIA Designer (TCD) software. As an extension of Meridian’s renowned Design and Specification Service, the software provides 3D arrangement of speakers, in alignment with industry standards, incorporating the guidelines from Dolby and the CEDIA whitepaper on speaker positioning. Speakers | Sonos

Sonos gets serious about speakers

The architectural category is an important growth area for Sonos, the company is looking to leverage the improved power of its new Amp to drive a new generation of high-performance installed speakers.

Sonos demonstrated its new Sonance designed integrated speakers at ISE, as well as the Amp’s ability to drive thirdparty speakers

Keen to be a real player in the architectural speakers category, involvement in this product sector helps elevate the Sonos brand from the general consumer market in which its all-in-one products play. Sonos says a person’s home is an investment and should be a retreat from an increasingly complicated and messy world. It should reflect personality, taste and a unique point of view. However, tech can get in the way. Enjoying all the entertainment and conveniences of the modern world should not mean outfitting the space with clunky devices, gadgets and unsightly cords. Sonos says its time to stop tolerating tech and start delighting in design. Eliminate gadgets and clutter, hide the wires and highlight the home. The company’s aim is to fill every room with incredible sound customised to each space’s unique design and layout. Building the source of that sound into the walls and ceilings to make it invisible, Sonos wants to transform the home into a sanctuary. With the addition of new speakers designed by Sonance, Sonos is looking to create a true installation allin-one platform. A shared commitment to superior sound and great design has driven Sonos and Sonance to create a collection of architectural passive speakers optimised for Sonos Amp. Sonos Architectural by Sonance includes in-ceiling, in-wall and outdoor speakers designed to disappear into any space while providing clear sound, even coverage, highquality performance, and ease of use. The in-wall and in-ceiling speakers have been made specifically to partner with the Sonos Amp. When paired with Amp, the speakers’ unique hardware signature unlocks Trueplay, which accounts for the size, construction and furnishings of the room where the speakers are placed, and automatically adjusts the EQ for the best possible sound.

Sonos In-Ceiling by Sonance The architectural speakers for ambient listening. £599/pair

Sonos In-Wall by Sonance The architectural speakers for focused listening. £599/pair

Sonos Outdoor by Sonance The architectural speakers for listening outside the home. £799/pair

The Sonos Amp can power up to three pairs of Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers for greater sound coverage and more immersive listening. Featuring custom-tailored acoustic components by Sonance—including a high excursion woofer with a copper shorting ring and a wide dispersion tweeter with an acoustic back chamber—these speakers are designed to reproduce incredibly clear sound. The crossover has been optimised to provide smooth coverage and a comfortable listening experience throughout the room and dynamic processing enhances the bass when listening at lower volumes. With Sonos Amp, clients can stream from all their favourite services and music stored on their devices. Control is simple with the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, and voice with smart devices. It’s like building Sonos all-in-one speakers into the ceiling or the walls. Once the speakers are installed, the Sonos app will automatically detect the model and adjust for peak performance. Then you can connect and set up all your clients’ streaming services and customise settings, such as room names. In the Sonos app, installers can adjust settings and use Trueplay to custom tune the speakers in minutes with just an iPhone or iPad. With over 50 years of combined experience in audio, Sonos and Sonance will help you exceed your clients’ expectations by providing an entire Sonos system, including architectural speakers, tailored to their needs. The Sonos software platform regularly updates to add services and improve listening experiences, and because all Sonos speakers and components work together, your clients can add to their setup at any time. The trimless grille features a unique perforation pattern and can be painted to match the ceiling. Choose the round or optional square grilles to complement the lighting system. The in-wall and in-ceiling designs can be partnered with a TV to enjoy a cinematic experience or immersive music video or concert footage, without creating clutter. The dedicated exterior speaker has water-impermeable drivers, a precision-fit grille, and front-mounted wire terminals housed in an IP-66 rated enclosure to protect against moisture and corrosion. Speakers | Henley Audio

Klipsch looks to capture hearts and minds

Back in the UK with a bang with a new distribution deal with Henley Audio, Klipsch is out to prove it has bags to offer dealers and installers alike. One of the strongest speaker brands in the US, Klipsch has an enviable audio history of delivering high-performance speakers with more than a touch of style to boot. Beginning in a small tin shed in the mid-40s, the company’s founder, Paul Wilbur Klipsch (PWK), was an American audio pioneer and a member of the engineering and science hall of fame; an honour he shares with the likes of Thomas Edison, George Washington Carver and the Wright brothers. PWK laid the foundations of the company establishing principles that still drive its speaker development today. Having already established some of the CE-focused products, Henley Audio is now offering Klipsch CI products and has big plans for its presence at EI Live! 2019. Some key developments for the brand include its Tractrix Horns, which help deliver precise acoustics; Cerametallic woofers which exhibit a very high stiffness-tomass ratio and superb damping, resulting in a powerful, solid bass foundation; and the company’s Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST), which delivers sonic detail in rooms with less-than-ideal placement configurations.

The products

Henley Audio wants more installers to discover the power of Klipsch

An extremely popular line is the Klipsch Heritage Series. To be included in this family, means Paul W. Klipsch, played a pivotal role in the design, development and engineering of the product. Each speaker is designed and assembled in the US with furniture-grade wood veneers and feature the firm’s cornerstone horn-loaded technology to deliver a high-quality acoustic experience.

More recent additions include the Reference Series, which leverages the company’s own horn-loaded technology and iconic spun-copper IMG woofers in a family that offers a whole range of home cinema and hi-fi options. Stepping up a level, the Reference Premiere speaker range leverages over 70 years of Klipsch’s signature acoustic expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver the higher-end home theatre and hi-fi solutions. This is the second generation of the award-winning range and has been expanded to 18 models – including Dolby Atmosenabled components, subwoofers and purpose-designed surround sound devices. All Reference Premiere speakers use the proprietary Tractrix horn technology to improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The horn features a compressed, moulded silicon face that’s mated to the 90×90 Tractrix horn, with computermodelled phase plugs that act as a mechanical filter with the aim of delivering a smoother, flat frequency response as well as physically protecting the tweeter. Behind the horn, an exclusive Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) tweeter maximises dynamics, delivering detailed performances. The SPL subwoofer range has been specially engineered to complement the new Reference Premiere speakers. The SPL-100 (10in driver) and SPL-120 (12in driver) are available in the same ebony wood finish as the speakers, and also feature Cerametallic woofers for expert handling of the low-end frequencies. With five centre channel models, Reference Premiere is designed to fit into any home cinema environment – large or small. The two dedicated surround sound models also leverage Klipsch’s proprietary Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST) to provide detail and the series also boasts two Dolby Atmos-ready models. Moving over to the brand’s integrated options, the Professional Series Reference Premiere speakers combine the aesthetics of an architectural speaker with the performance of the Reference Premiere series. With Cerametallic woofers and titanium dome tweeters mated to composite coated round Tractrix horns, the speakers deliver dynamic, powerful, detailed Reference Premiere sound to any distributed audio or home theatre system. The products offer an easy to use, but very robust SECUREFIT installation system which prevents over torqueing. These speakers have a bezel free magnetic grille and also included is a magnetic PVC paint shield that can be used to cover the speaker module to protect it from paint or construction dust during renovations or remodels. Klipsch also boasts a full range of outdoor speakers with its Landscape range, so the signature Klipsch sounds can be carried-through outside with these well-engineered and robust speakers. Speakers | Dynaudio

Dynamic Dynaudio targets installers

With the introduction of new products, Dynaudio, together with its UK distribution partner CAVD, is out to prove it can be a strong ally for installers. Founded in 1977 in Skanderborg, Denmark, Dynaudio has over 40 years of experience in producing high-end speakers and has always had the imagination and quality to be a force in the CI space. That potential is coming through now with some new products and the backing of the team at Custom AV Distribution. All of the products are designed in-house at the company’s impressive HQ in Skanderborg, Denmark, which boasts the most advanced digital acoustic chamber in the world, the Jupiter room.

Talking technologies

Dynaudio speakers can be heard on permanent demonstration at Custom AV Distribution’s Marlow HQ

Dynaudio has some unique approaches, which help create its distinctive sound. Soft dome fabric tweeters that carry no resonance of their own so don’t ‘colour’ the sound or add in frequencies of their own are used. Dynaudio’s woofers always use a single piece of moulded MSP attached to the voicecoil. MSP gives the right balance of rigidity and dampening. It’s also moisture proof, giving it strong performance consistency. Being able to avoid using a dust cap gives greater control of the midrange and better high frequencies. The maker also tailors its voice coils to every driver model it produces, using different thicknesses and lengths of aluminium or copper wire to give the right amount of control and movement of the voice coil within the magnetic field. A combination of large and small diameter coils are used depending on the needs of the driver. Line up wise, for classic Hi-Fi fans, the current range consists of the Emit series as the entry level, then Excite, Contour, Confidence, Consequence and Evidence in performance and price order. As for the install range, installers can call on the Studio Series which uses the company’s Hi-Fi heritage in an install speaker. Already the winner of a CEDIA Best in Show award (2017) this range forms a key part of the offering now available from Custom AV Distribution. One of the hero products from the CI range is the Modular LCR speaker, which allows the specifier to scale the size of the system to match the size of the room or SPL requirements, as well as making it possible to avoid existing wall studs across the centre channel. Also in the range are the Studio in-ceiling speakers, which come in 6.5in,

6.5in dual voice coil and 8in variants, these all have woofers angled at 18° and adjustable tweeters, allowing them to be accurately directed to the listening area. There are also two-way in-wall speakers in 6.5in and 8in woofer sizes. The Studio range also uses a two part, tool free installation method, allowing a technician to mount the preinstall frame with simple clips, before inserting the speaker into place. There is also a strong product road map in place that will build on the Studio series through 2019. The new Performance series is an architectural speaker range recommended for use in distributed audio systems as well as effects channels in AV set ups. Using Dynaudio’s recognisable materials and technologies, such as 1in soft dome tweeters, one piece MSP moulded woofer cones, which are paired with large voice coils and magnets but re-engineered to give a much shallower depth, the Performance range has that recognisable Dynaudio quality and tonality. The Performance CI speakers still benefit from Dynaudio’s tool free two-part installation system on the in-ceiling speakers, with simple twist-in fixing mechanism. The in-wall speakers have traditional dogleg fixings. The range consists of 6.5in, 6.5in dual voice coil, which both come in at 70mm depth and an 8in in-ceiling version, which measures just 87mm deep. There are also 6.5in and 8in two-way in-wall speakers and a dual 5in woofer LCR speaker. All are supplied with low profile, paintable magnetic grills. Also available soon, the new Outdoor series for use around patio and pool areas. This product line consists of on-wall IP65 rated speakers in 6.5in and 8in versions. Each size comes in extra durable, UV treated black and white finishes and is supplied with rust resistant aluminium grills. They are supplied with a mounting bracket, which allows both horizontal and vertical adjustment, meaning the speaker can be directed toward the listening area. As well as operating as 8ohm speakers they also have the option of being used in 70/100V line systems. Dynaudio dynaudio.com, cavd.co.uk, 01628 563344

Dynaudio Custom Studio series

Heard, not seen. The Dynaudio Custom Studio series: round in-ceiling and rectangular in-wall speakers in both 6.5in and 8in versions, including DVC and modular in-wall LCR variants. All featuring our acclaimed 1in soft-dome tweeters and MSP woofers. And all – of course – designed and developed in Denmark.

Our in-wall and in-ceiling speakers are a piece of cake to install. Before we even put pen to drawing board, we made a long list of all the little woes and gripes installers commonly have. And then we stamped them all out with clever solutions such as our innovative install frame (with clever friction clips for tool-free fitting); simple adjustment of the speaker position (just push it with your finger); and paintable magnetic grilles (which snap right into place without adjustment). Done. Now, about that cake…
