Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.

KEY CLUB 3

I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

Key Club aims to cooperate with school principals and teachers to provide high school students with invaluable experience in living and working together and to prepare them for useful citizenship. Our members develop initiative and leadership skills by serving their schools and communities. In doing so, we hope to promote and accept the following ideals:

To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption and application of higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship and social contacts. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship. To provide a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service and to build better communities. To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will.

OFFICER M Heyyy Key Club! This past month had a great outcome of many

t n e dis er P- V

events, and I am super proud of everyone that contributed to this month's events. Just to recapture October, our first big project kick off was the School Supply Drive and we raised over 1000 items of supplies to donate. Also, this month we donated handmade cards to our EMT/First Responders in giving thanks for what they have done during this pandemic. Besides projects, we also had our Key Club members volunteer for the Parkway UMC Pumpkin Patch, wish I could've volunteered! Overall, I think October was a really great month of exciting things happening.

In November, we will have Homecoming Week which is super exciting. By the time this newsletter is out, Homecoming Week would almost be over but that's alright! We will follow up with a Key Club Workshop for members as well as working on the Teacher Appreciation Project w/ StuCo! Hope y'all are excited!

Yours In Service,

Britney Nguyen 5

MESSAGE Hello Kiwanis! Another month, another message. If I had to choose my

Along with our "Spooky Social" we also had our first in-person volunteer opp at the Parkway UMC Pumpkin Patch. Kudos to our Co-President Abena for helping organize this amazing opportunity. Not only did our in-person volunteer

AA RR TT II CC LL EE SS My Favorite Service Event This Year

This year has been crazier than any other school year I have experienced. I always dreamed of doing online school, and here I am doing it because of global pandemic! I was sure at first that clubs and sports would have to be cancelled, and I didn’t know how things would be able to function. Key club however has managed to adapt to the current situation in so many amazing ways. I had been reluctant at first to go to in person volunteering opps because I didn’t want to risk the spread of COVID-19, and that was completely fine. Key club was able to organize many virtual volunteering sessions, and my favorite was the opportunity to make cards for first responders and EMTs. I never realized this small gesture could go such a long way. Making cute cards with silly puns and words of encouragement are totally needed for all the frontline workers at all times, but especially during a lobal pandemic. Being able to have the opportunity to make other people who have been working hard to save numerous lives for the past 9 months is truly something to take advantage off. This was an enjoyable experience for me because I realized how impactful it will be for the EMTs and first responders who receive the cards and letters I made. It was also really nice to see the Key club people go and deliver the letters through Instagram. This service event was a memorable experience for me because it was different from the other volunteering activities that I have done since it was during the pandemic. We were able to do our part from home, and still make an impact and brighten the day of others. This was truly a beautiful thing to do for people who definitely deserve tons of praise and love during these hard times. - Kiara Souza All About Key Club

Key Club is a great club to provide service for others. I love Key Club because it gives opportunities to provide for others that are unfortunate. One of my favorite events that has happened in 2020 was the first event which was the school supply drive because, we had the privilege to give students supplies that they could not afford. This event shows me that this club is all about caring and providing for others which I always wanted to provide for others in need. My second favorite opportunity that Key Club gave me was to write 5 cards thanking the First Responders which was very interesting because it shows me to always be thankful for the people that work hard to be able to make a difference in the world. I think Key Club is a great club to join because, we are very kind, compassionate, hard workers that work well together and are understanding. Key Club is very optimistic because, we are still working and determined to provide and care for others even through COVID-19 which has made a lot of events difficult and different. I think during this difficult time during COVID has really made volunteering opportunities more difficult to attend but the Key Club organization tries their best to fulfill anybody's questions or issues. However, our leaders for Key Club are working hard to plan events, fundraisers, projects, etc. which shows how determined our leaders of Key Club are. I really enjoy that Key Club tries their best to include everyone within the organization by having a variety of fundraisers, projects, etc. I joined Key Club because it is a unique club that provides an excellent opportunity for people who want to make a difference. Key Club focus is to make schools, homes, and communities a better place for people through these core values leadership, character building, caring and inclusiveness. I recommend people to joining Key Club if they want to provide and care for others. If you are looking for an opportunity to make the world better, I recommend joining Key Club where we are compassionate, caring, and a serving organization.

How I Feel In Love With Key Club

It was the fateful day of the club fair, I had no clue on which clubs I should join and none of them sparked any interest in me. I joined the zoom call, wondering if I would get into the college that I want to go to without being in any clubs; then, the spokesperson for Key Club began telling us about the club. It was exactly what I wanted, an opportunity to make new friends and help the community. The more I listened the more it intrigued me, at that moment I knew that I had to join this club. Of course, it’s not the same as it would have been if we were face to face, but so far, I have really enjoyed being a part of this club. The officers are all so kind and understanding and the service opportunities are amazing.

Due to the current circumstances, I haven’t really gotten to know many people, I feel like I belong somewhere ever since I joined Key Club. Before, I was nervous about joining clubs because I wasn’t sure if people would be nice and if joining clubs would even be fun; now though, I’ve realized that society has stressed too much on villainous people. There are nice people out there, lots of them in fact. From the first meeting, the officers greeted the members with a smile and kindly explained what to expect from Key Club. They explained how we would get opportunities to serve the community and help people in need.

I’ve always loved helping people, ever since I was little. People have even told me to stop taking the burden of helping others upon myself because I can’t save the whole world. So, it was really important that the club I joined would have opportunities to help people. Key Club did just that, from school supply drives to cards for essential workers, Key Club has many opportunities to help others. I’ve been a lot happier since I’ve become a member of this club. As I previously stated, I love helping people and it makes me feel happy. As a result, I feel like I’m making a small difference in someone’s day.

I hope one day to be an officer and help to organize socials, events, and other ways to help. Key Club has opened a new door for me with great ways to make the world a more joyful place, especially during these uncertain times. I think that this club will lead me to make an impact on the world in the coming years.
