Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.
KEY CLUB 3
I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.
Key Club aims to cooperate with school principals and teachers to provide high school students with invaluable experience in living and working together and to prepare them for useful citizenship. Our members develop initiative and leadership skills by serving their schools and communities. In doing so, we hope to promote and accept the following ideals:
To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption and application of higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship and social contacts. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship. To provide a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service and to build better communities. To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will.

OFFICER M Happy New Year Bulldogs!
We are so happy to get a fresh new start with all of you. For this
t n e dis er P
semester we will be focusing more on hands-on and impactful service. Through the help of our amazing leadership board, we together as a board have been able to provide opportunities that represent more of everyone’s passions and areas of service that really move them. As this month comes to a close we will begin to start officer interviews and applications and we encourage all of you to apply. We would love to have a genuinely diverse officer board that could bring different perspectives to the table. We wish everyone the best of luck on their officer interview process! As we come into the new month we can't wait to start the new initiatives brought forth by members to better their external communities. Over the past year, we have seen you embody the core values of the key club and we can’t wait to see how you all have grown at the end of the year.
Yours In Service,
Abena Boateng 5

These service projects are geared on a variety of different service projects and I am sure you all will love them. Another huge topic this semester is officer elections, this process of officer elections will occur during the time within February and early March. We are looking for people that have passion for Key Club and bring forth new ideas as well as suggestions. I especially would love to have a super diverse board and see what people would like to see next year! I wish everyone the best of luck and have a great February.

AA RR TT II CC LL EE SS The reason I chose to be in Key Club out of all the other clubs is because Key Club looks fun and friendly, last year some of my friends were talking about how much fun they have during service and it made me want to join the club. Even though this year we couldn’t do as much activities as we could when we were in school, it was still fun doing crafts and especially making calls to seniors during thanksgiving, that was my absolute favorite. If I had known what we do in clubs and what kind of activities we do in Key club, I would have applied earlier. I believe my favorite service opp. that we did last year was calling seniors on Thanksgiving Day, it was soo nice to have a conversation with them and to hear what their favorite memory is of Thanksgiving. Although there were some seniors who didn’t really want to talk and were grumpy, I was able to still make a little conversation with them and ask how their day was. The other reason I wanted to join this club was to make new friends and learn how to be part of a community. In other words, being a part of a club can help me find people with common interest and try something new. Furthermore, like the thanksgiving calls and cards that we have made for seniors, we try to make a difference and make people happy and remembered. Whenever I make cards, it makes me happy knowing that it will put a smile on their faces and make their day better. Overall, I think that’s the purpose of this club is to help people and make sure they are remembered every day, and that’s what I love about this club. - Madeeha Siddeeque New Year, New Me!
Happy New Year to the wonderful students and staff at Stephen F. Austin Highschool! I don’t know about you, but I am sure hoping for a better year than what 2020 offered us. January is a period of transition and reflection on the upcoming year, and this month has allowed me to reflect on myself and my choices. One of those choices being “why key club?!”. Out of the many clubs/organizations offered here at Austin, why might have I chosen Key Club? Well, since you asked, I choose Key Club because of all the opportunities that it offers. I knew that it would give me a chance to experience new things as well as giving back to the community. I feel it is important to always place ourselves in environments where we can learn as well as grow, and that is what Key Club offers. It offers so many opportunities to try new things and give to those who need it most. While one can argue that many clubs at Austin offer these same experiences, I feel that Key Club was the best choice for me. I hope that many can agree with me that Key Club was the right choice for them. Now it is a new year and there are countless opportunities found within Key Club to help our community and bring joy to those who are in need of it. This is the year of change and I say one of the best ways to help change the environment of Stephen F. Austin Highschool for the better is partaking in Key Club. My new years resolution includes educating many on why they should join Key Club as well as making the most with all the opportunities provided for us. I wish you the best new year! - Adell Murray

Key Club is the Best Club
I chose Key Club mostly because of the leadership skills the club provides me with. The officers allow many service opportunities to show our skills and efforts. I wanted to join a club that is friendly, flexible, diverse, and fun as well. Key Club absolutely fits all of these requirements. Not only leadership skills, the club also teaches us many other values. Examples are: Character building, how to be caring, and inclusiveness. After high school, since I am aiming to become a business consultant, these values will be needed in my work place. It is extremely imperative to involve everyone around you. Additionally, I wanted to join this club because I would be able to help the environment. During this pandemic, it is a bit difficult to help the outside community but the officers are always willing to give us a hand. As a citizen, I needed to learn more about how to take care of the environment around me plus the individuals. I wanted to join this club to earn healthy habits for myself. Building character is a factor that is really important to me individually. I believe we should all have these core values in ourselves. This club gives me the opportunity to make an impact in my own way. Key club has been there for such a long time, which means it has many benefits involved with it. Since Key club is an international organization, there are club across the 6 of 7 continents, which is really impressive. That means it is organized and has extremely strict goals. This club also allowed me to use my creativity skills to apply them on to a variety of projects. I knew Key club was a great club to start with from reading all of the research about them online. After being in the club for a full semester, my opinion stays the same. - Sakshi Nair
