Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.
KEY CLUB 3
I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.
Key Club aims to cooperate with school principals and teachers to provide high school students with invaluable experience in living and working together and to prepare them for useful citizenship. Our members develop initiative and leadership skills by serving their schools and communities. In doing so, we hope to promote and accept the following ideals:
To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption and application of higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship and social contacts. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship. To provide a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service and to build better communities. To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will.

OFFICER M Happy Holidays!
It is so crazy to say but we have gone through almost half of the year
t n e dis er P
for Key Club 2020-2021. First of all, I would love to say that we are so proud of all the efforts made by all of our members this semester despite everything going on. Especially all of our members of the month for going the extra mile this semester. As we begin to wrap up, I would like to highlight all of the drives we had this semester. From the School Supply Drive to the Period Poverty Drive you ALL really put the meaning into service doesn't stop. A highlight for this semester was also our Pumpkin Path at Parkway UMC. It was such a success in person volunteering event and it really showcased the heart and work ethic of our members. Our favorite part of this semester especially was getting to know each and every one of you more and more. Hopefully as we begin our next semester we will be able to participate in a lot more activities in which you will get to meet other members and create more long-lasting relationships. Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog!

Welcome to Stephen F. Austin Key Club’s November article! It’s an exciting time for Key Club as we all prepare for the winter holidays. Christmas time is all about giving back to our friends, family, and community and Key Club has so many opportunities to do just that. Some upcoming events I know I will be participating in are: Period Pact Drive- this is a great opportunity to give back to the women of the community and lend a helping hand. Drop of pads, tampons, and/or liners at 11835 Copperas Creek Drive, this ends November 22 so do it as soon as you can!! On December 5th Key Club is having a holiday and bingo party, I know I won’t be missing out! I love the holidays but more importantly I love spending my holiday time with others, and watching Christmas movies in my pjs! Lastly, join Key Club(I know I will) in making digital nursing home cards for our elders and cards for the homeless, it is important everyone feels some holly and jolly even though times are difficult right now. Nursing home cards are due December 1st and cards for the homeless are due December 5th, so get to work soon!I hope you can join us in celebrating the holidays while giving back to others. There’s so much in store this holiday season, and I have so much to be thankful for! “Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy. They are the charming gardeners who make our soul blossom”-Marcel Proust - Adell Murray
Great Opportunities from Key Club
Key club is a great club to teach new things throughout many services. An example of a lesson that I learned from was the Teacher Appreciation Letters and I learned to try to show more appreciation to teachers especially after all they do. I found this service very interesting because it was great to show my appreciation to my teacher since teachers put a lot of effort to make students better. The Key Club provides great services to be able to learn good lessons to help kids understand the value of helping people and showing appreciation to people that provide for others in a positive way. Also, Key Club is a great opportunity for people to enjoy activities that will provide support for people especially during this difficult time. For example, an upcoming event is to make cards for seniors for the holidays. I think this is a great activity for Key Club because, it's to show our holiday spirit during Thanksgiving and Christmas and it allows the seniors who can’t be with family due to COVID to feel appreciated and loved during a difficult time. I am really honored to be able to write personal cards to make seniors feel loved during the holidays. Another activity that was themed was dressing up during homecoming week which made Key Clubbers able to show their school spirit during homecoming week. I was able to participate in two of the homecoming activities such as pajama day, which is shown in the picture to the right, and class color day. Key Club is not only about experiencing great activities but also great bonds with other members throughout Key Club. Key Club is about the importance of the core values which are leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness and I have been able to experience nice leaders throughout Key Club that answer any questions and that gives me more information about events. I think our Key Club leaders are doing a great job of trying to make key club members know each other on a personal level by setting up games that members can participate throughout our online meetings. Key Club is a great club that offers great opportunities to learn from and help others throughout fun events! - Emily Salgado

The Impact of Social Media in Key Club
Social Media nowadays is one of the most used platforms to connect people and raise awareness. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. are all applications used to expose issues, create engagement, and build a sense of community. In Key Club, using social media to reach its members is an effective way to put the word out and bring in more members and awareness to the club.
To start off, Key club uses its social media Instagram as an awareness platform to give a reminder and raise awareness for an event or social coming up. Also, Using Instagram dm’s to ask a question to a member or associate of the club is easy and efficient for Key club. Starting off the club key club uses social media to reach Austin High School students so that they may join the club which will result in them gaining more members. Also, the use of social media for a club such as Key club can show proactive modern standards to the club which will cause more engagement of members to their page.
Adding on to the topic, Instagram is a may to use pictures and captions to bring out a topic or event for the members to lead through service and volunteerism. The social media helps keep information in one place for members to go back and check in which they can also put a link for a form or sign up in the bio. Using the bio on Instagram can help members sign up for an event or be directed to the official Key club website for more information. Another feature that can connect members efficiently is highlights in which the club can store information from past events they posted on their story right on the page. Highlights help keep dates and events in mind for members wanting to participate or look back to an event that’s happened before hand.
In addition, another very useful student social media is Remind. Remind improves communication between home and school for students. Announcements can be received in seconds to members no matter what device they use, and the platform keeps privacy between the member and Key club. The app also keeps a log of all messages sent which is very helpful if any miscommunication between members happen so the club can go back and see the messages.
In Conclusion, using social media for Key club can efficiently keep members connected efficiently. It creates awareness for events, and it can also expose issues/awareness, create engagement and build a sense of community. - Kashish Lalmohammed
