Khanyisa Weekly - Gert Sibande

LOVE DOES NOT GROW OLD IT IS THE PEOPLE IN LOVE THAT TEND TO LOSE IT Love never grows old. It is the people in love that walk all over it depreciating it only in their limited and selfish thinking, meanwhile love emerges afresh when it finds fertile soil! Like God, Love is constant. Love does not hate. Love does not hold grudges, love does not grow old. In fact, love never dies! Love tends to co-exists with faith and hope with trust as the overriding ingredient. When two people fall in love for the first time, butterflies fill their emotions and their hearts pumps faster

when they see the person they love. As time goes on, the smiles, the caring, the touching as well as the original admiration fades away. With no one to pick up the pieces, before the couple knows it, love has flown out of the window. Really? Has it flown out or like a snail, it has just collected itself and crammed itself inside the shell (heart). It will wait there until someone tickles its fancy and it will not crawl out but eject like a brand new cassette player. It will love like it had not loved elsewhere

Lets go back a bit. What happened in the first instance. Why did love go away to hide while the couple was still together? The enemy of most couples, especially those that are not saved is pride, prejudice and unfaithfulness. Two is a couple, three is a crowd. Once there is a third element, love creeps away both sides as God departs from that relationship. The couple that is supposed to work in unison starts to compete on everything they do. They start to argue too often, sometimes in front of the kids!

Khanyisa Newspaper is available across Gert Sibande District FREE on Fridays at the following shops:

Each one wants to win the race each time they argue and as the devil makes himself comfortable, hate starts to develop. Some start to say there is indeed a thin line between love and hate. Nonsense! Just like there is a thin line between light and darkness, when light comes through, darkness vanishes. Two adults involved in Holy matrimony must reason as adults since they made vows to God about seeing each other through thick and thin. When love creeps away, as long as there is no adultery even whichcraft can be cast away. Take it to the Lord in prayer and if honest, He will rurn things around. Elisha Goodman has special prayers for couples. Check them out and save your marriage. Till next week, Adios.

DIPALESENG GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY Donation by the department of social development The Tsotetsi family lives in a two roomed shack in Joe Slovo in Siyathemba. They have two children and they don't have any source of income as both parents are unemployed. The terrible status of the living conditions of this family was discovered during the household profiling project which was conducted as a basis of interventions to be rolled out through the Comprehensive Rural Development Program that is currently being implemented in Dipaleseng. Mr. Shadrack MhlapuleTsotetsi does however have skills in Electrical work and tries odd jobs

here and there to try and put food on the table. On the 31st of March 2014 Mr. Tsotetsi was handed over a 2000 Watt Generator and a Tester, the equipment provided by the Department of Social Development was handed over to Mr Tsotetsi by Cllr. MafundaMakhubu and Ms MamsieMtshweni, a Community Development Practitioner from department. “I am very much grateful for what the Department of Social Development has done for me. Now I can do my job properly as I myself I am electrician, keep helping others too who seek your help like you helped me, said Mr Tsotetsi. This is just one of the examples that demonstrate the caring nature of this government. The department of social development handed over 2000 Watt Generator and a Tester

GERT SIBANDE COLLEGE HOSTS TVET ICT CONFERENCE 09 11 APRIL 2014 An inaugural TVET ICET Conference was hosted by Gert Sibande College at Graceland Casino in Secunda, Mpumalanga from 9 to 11 April 2014. The theme of the conference was “Enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through Technology.” TVET Colleges from across the country attended with all 9 provinces being represented by 219 attendees. The conference was opened by the CEO and Principal of Gert Sibande College, Nick Balkrishen. His remarks included - “If we are expected to produce a skilled and capable workforce that will meet the demands of the 21st century workplace in a dynamic globalized economy, can the TVET sector afford to be left behind? One of the driving factors towards hosting the conference was to create a platform for all 50 TVET Colleges to share best practices, resources and wisdom with each other. One of the main goals of this conference is to start a dialogue

that will result in a collaborative ICT approach by all 50 TVET Colleges on how we can synergistically harness the potential of ICT to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the TVET sector. How can we present lessons to our students that will enthral them, excite them, inspire them, motivate them so that they want to learn and excel? Can we afford to teach students in the same way as we were taught especially with the rate at which technology has evolved? He concluded by saying “I am confident that the information we receive and share will benefit us on our journey to transform the TVET sector into one that is synonymous with excellence.” The key note address was done by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mduduzi Manana, who emphasised the following points: 1. Internationally, education is on a technology trajectory greater than ever experienced before.

Education world-wide has embraced technology and whilst there is rapid integration of ICT this is not always done effectively. 2. Technology has fundamentally changed the creation and use of teaching and learning materials. Concepts like open content, open data and open educational resources along with the notions of transparency and easy access to data and information, is becoming a valued Service 3. I want to stress the fact that people have wider access to learning materials than ever before. It is not anymore about getting information from a textbook, which may be out-dated. Today it is about searching for and finding information, and sifting through it to find the most appropriate and most current information. This is a new skill for a new world! Deputy Minister Manana concluded with the following remark “TVET Colleges are indeed important in the building of a nation. It is therefore imperative that TVET Colleges transform themselves to

adapt to the demands of an ever-changing environment. We have come a long way in integrating and advancing our TVET sector and I look forward to how we can further improve our delivery systems through our public institutions.” Aruna Singh, who is the Director of Curriculum in DHET, read out and handed a letter of support to Gert Sibande College. “The Department of Higher Education and Training is pleased to support the First SA FET COLLEGES ICT Conference held in Mpumalanga initiated and hosted by Gert Sibande College. We have carefully contemplated the value of the initiative and agree that its focus on the enhancement and improvement of teaching practices through the inclusion of technology into the classroom is worth supporting. She concluded with best wishes from DHET. “We wish you all the best in your endeavour to improve the quality of learning by promoting eLearning and technology in the

TVET sector of South Africa.” The Conference included a number of high profile speakers ranging from Trudi van Wyk, who heads Open Learning in DHET, who spoke about the current and future plans of DHET regarding ICT, connectivity and using technology in the classroom to David Sales who spoke about how colleges can benefit from video conferencing. Engela Franken, GS College eLearning Manager and the conference co-ordinator, was thrilled with the overwhelming support for the conference, and the very complimentary responses from attendees who were convinced by the conference that ICT has the potential to change the face of teaching and learning in TVET Colleges in SA. The conference concluded with a set of recommendations that will be sent to DHET for their consideration and possible implementation.

GOSPEL FESTIVAL BENEFITS LOCAL ARTISTS Gospel sensation, SfisoNcwane took patrons at the Govan Mbeki Arts and Culture Festival to another level of glory with a captivating performance.

only aimed at pleasing the crowd but also inspiring a new generation of gospel singers. He achieved both with each chorus he belted at the Graceland Casino Arena in Secunda.

Ncwane, who is an awarding artist, had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand when he rendered songs like “When Jesus says yes”, “Phakama Nkosi YeZulu”, “Baba Ngiyabonga” and “Ngo Bekezele”. The biggest and loudest cheer was reserved for “Kulingile Baba”. It is, after all, the song that won him accolades and fans across South Africa and beyond. It was a performance not

The Govan Mbeki Arts and Culture Gospel Festival was not an ordinary gathering. It was staged primarily to benefit local gospel artists and the creative industry as a whole within the Govan Mbeki municipality.Organized by the Govan Mbeki Arts and Culture Forum, the festival was headlined by local artists such

asZoliswaDelihlazo, MapuleMolefe, Heartout Network, Sweet Melody Boyd Choir, Emba Sweet Melodies, Qabso Mass Choir, Kinross Spiritual Group, Mapule, Barunyoa St Moses and Power of Praise. These artists shared the stage withNcwane and in the process they were able to glean a thing or two about the music industry and how to hold a crowd. According to the forum's head, Lebo Molomo, the festival was a success and the support from the community was encouraging.

“As a forum we are committed to promoting and supporting the talents of our young people and we are grateful for the support we get from the public and other stakeholders, whose contribution will go along way in ensuring that the forum is a success.” She says they will use the proceeds raised during the festival to reach more young people in all corners of Govan Mbeki and groom them in their craft to enable them to reach new heights.

One afternoon, a wealthy lawyer was riding in the back of his limousine when he saw two men eating grass by the road side. He ordered his driver to stop and he got out to investigate. "Why are you eating grass?" he asked one man. "We don't have any money for food." the poor man replied. "Oh, come along with me then." "But sir, I have a wife with two children!" "Bring them along! And you, come with us too!", he said to the other man. "But sir, I have a wife with six children!" the second man answered. "Bring them as well!"

They all climbed into the car, which was no easy task, even for a car as large as the limo. Once underway, one of the poor fellows says, "Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you." The lawyer replied, "No problem, the grass at my home is about two feet tall!"

Miguel Timm scored the only goal of the match as Mpumalanga Black Aces registered a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night. With Chiefs throwing men forward in search of a late winner, it was the visitors who turned possession over quickly and scored the decisive goal deep into injury time. The home side settled quicker and asked the early questions with Siphiwe Tshabalala firing over the crossbar in the fifth minute, while George Lebese forced a save from Jackson Mabokgwane in the 14th minute. Stuart Barker's side continued to look for the opener but Bernard Parker saw his freekick kept out by Mabokgwane in the 21st minute before drilling a long range effort wide of goal in the eight minutes later. Aces had to wait until the 29th minute to carve their first opportunity but it was a good one as Abia Nale found a free Tendai Ndoro on the edge of the box, but the Zimbabwean shot wide of goal. Chiefs' next opportunity came

from a setpiece in the 41st minute as Tshabalala's delivery found Parker at the near post, but his header went over the crossbar. AmaZayoni thought they deserved a penalty two minutes later when Willard Katsande looked to have fouled Ndoro inside the box, but the referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge. Chiefs started the second half as they had started the first with Parker picking out Kingston Nkhatha inside the box, but the Zimbabwean sent his header wide of goal. In the 62nd minute Siboniso Gaxa pushed forward on the right before playing a pinpoint cross to Parker at the near post, but Mabokgwane was positioned well to make a comfortable save. Chiefs had a great chance in the 73rd minute when Parker ran into a cut-back cross from Katlego Mphela, only to send the ball over the target from close range. Aces broke the deadlock in the fourth minute of added time as Timm made a great run on the left to latch onto a through pass from Nale before beating Khune from inside the box. Amakhosi had a late chance to claim a share of the spoils but Mphela sent his header wide after meeting Tshabalala's freekick at the near post.
