HIV and AIDS is the third causes of leading deaths in South Africa however the Program has marked a huge milestone in fast tracking this burning issue. Acquiring skills assist pupils to avoid behaviours carrying the risk of HIV infection as pupils are often vulnerable in engaging to unprotected sexual activities this may lead to a significant drop in the capacity of education. Young people remain a top priority in all the cutting edges however HIV and AIDS and the fragile economic growth escalating effects the youth. The Africa centre for HIV/AIDS has received recognition across the world for their hard work in 2014 they scooped an award of an Outstanding ensemble cast in world fest Venice. Minister Lindiwe Zulu Speaks To The Situation! Colani Nkambule he first of its kind in the Mpumalanga Province, a Centre for Entrepreneurship at Gert Sibande TVET College was launched by the Department of Small Business Development, Lindiwe Zulu. The centre is a product of a five-year Memorandum of Agreement between the department and the college, and forms part of department’s initiative to primarily target TVET institutions to promote education, training and development. The Department of Small Business Development plays a major role in the development of small enterprises and prioritises the establishment of the CfE programme within TVET colleges and universities. “The establishment of Centres for Entrepreurship is consistent with our vision of building a nation of entrepreneurs”, said Minister Lindiwe Zulu. Minister Lindiwe Zulu spoke from a parental point of view and advised students on how to behave and conduct themselves as they approach life at College; this was evident as she spoke mainly from her own life experiences “I can speak Brazillian, Russian, Swahili and a bit of French, these are languages that I chose to learn and speak for my own good. When I was a student in Russia, I was forced to study my Journalism programme in Russian; I did not have the opportunity to speak the English language there. I had to study computer and all other modules in the Russian language, that was a learning curve for me because I had the opportunity to get exposed to a language that was hard for me but because of focus and determination, I made it”, said the Minister. The Minister went on to reflect more on her life “When I

T

was young I used to go out gallivanting, I never listened to anyone who gave me advice, I fell pregnant and got a child at the age of 16, my grandmother sent back to school but because I was so stubborn, I got another child again, I had to change my mind and choose what is right for me. I had to take my education seriously, that is why I am the woman I am today. Young ladies, you need to take these opportunities that are presented to by the government. Make use of them for your own benefit, as a department we want you to start your own businesses, be able to run your own businesses but that cannot happen if you do not take your education seriously. You need to work extra hard”, concluded the Minister Lindiwe Zulu. Minister Lindiwe urged the students to make use of the entrepreneurial opportunities and make it happen by working hard and doing what is right. She made an example of how most women in Nigeria get up early in the morning and do business in the streets just for them to send their children to school, with that said she then made a comparison between the Nigerian and South African government by outlining the opportunities that the government of South Africa provides, which Nigerians are not provided with but they make it happen by working hard. She further noted that her Department will address the issue of job opportunities. Instead of reading the long written speech in front of her, she spoke to the situation and the positive responses and paying of attention while she spoke, was a clear indication that they had learnt something from the Minister’s life. She spoke as parent to the students. “Mr Nick Balkrishen, CEO of Gert Sibande TVET

College alluded that the mandate for colleges White Paper for PostSchool Education and Training has two main areas of focus: 1. Increase access 2. Improved student achievement In terms of access the college enrolment increased from 5000 students in 2007 to over 11 000 students today. 54% of students are female. The majority of our students come from rural areas. 95% of our students receive bursaries to pay for their class fees. The bursary allocation increased from R7.5m in 2007 to R50m for 2015. The support from government has been brilliant and must be commended. In terms of improved student performance the college pass rate in the NCV examinations increased from 64% in 2007 to 85% in 2014. This placed the GSC as one of the top performing colleges in the country. However, although our students excel, many of them remain unemployed. And that breaks our hearts as we care for our students dearly. That is the reason why this project really excites us. The launch has come at the right time and today we will celebrate the launch of the First Centre for Entrepreneurship in Mpumalanga. The Centre for Entrepreneurship is funded by the Department of Small Business. The Centre will accommodate 30 Gert Sibande in its first intake. Main goals of the centre are to empower these students with skills, knowledge and attitudes so that they can start their own businesses. The management and staff of Gert Sibande College are committed to assist government to create a better life for all South Africans, especially our youth. Rappers Rule At XXI Annual S . A Music Awards

H

ip-hop heavyweights Cassper Nyovest and K.O. lead the nominations for the South African Music Awards in its 21st year, with five nods respectively; the same number bagged by Capetonian pop trio Beatenberg. The nominations for this year’s awards, branded #SAMAXXI as the event comes of age in a thrilling fashion, were unveiled during a press conference on Thursday, 12 March 2015, at The Rand Club in Johannesburg and will culminate in a star-studded party later the same evening at Cocoon Lounge in Sandton. Nyovest is in the running for awards in the Best Rap Album, Best Collaboration, Best Album, Best Male Artist and Best Newcomer categories. Fellow rapper K.O., with two nominations for Best Collaboration, will be competing head to head with him in all these categories except Best Newcomer. Making matters even more juicy is the fact that AKA and Duncan are also nominated for three major awards each, ensuring that the XXI edition of the South African Music Awards will be a highly competitive affair; a lip-smacking prospect for TV audiences who will be tuning in to watch the ceremony, broadcast live from Sun City, on SABC1 on 19 April. The hip-hop heads have some serious competition; flying the pop music flag high at the awards will be Beatenberg, who are up for gongs in the Best Pop Album, Best Collaboration, Best Album, Best Duo/Group and Best Newcomer categories. Prime Circle are proving that after 14 years of music making, they still have new tricks up their sleeve with four nominations for Best Rock Album, Best Music Video, Best Producer and Best Engineer for their

album Let the Night In. Hot on their heels with three nods each are fellow industry veterans Ringo Madlingozi, whose longawaited new release has earned him nominations for Best African Adult Album, Best Male Artist and Album of the Year, and McCoy Mrubata, who is competing for glory in the categories for Best Jazz Album, Best Engineer and Best Duo or Group. On a poignant note, the late Lulu Dikana, the sister of fellow songbird Zonke Dikana, has received three posthumous nominations for Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album, Best Producer and Best Female Artist. The Album of the Year category, always a closely fought battle, will see stalwart Ringo slug it out with young guns Beatenberg, Nyovest, K.O. and The Soil. Beatenberg and Nyovest will come up against Duncan, as well as Jeremy Loops (also nominated for Best Alternative Album) and Howie Combrink (a contender in the Best Adult Contemporary Album category), in the Best Newcomer category. South Africa’s newest Grammy Award winner, flautist Wouter Kellerman, is up for accolades in two categories: Best Classical/Instrumental Album and Best Producer. Last year multiple Grammy Award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo were honoured with a lifetime achievement award and this year, the XXI Annual South African Music Awards will also be honouring living legends of the local music industry with Lifetime Achievement Awards, announced prior to the awards ceremony.

contenders for the KIA Record of the Year (#KiaROTY) are announced on Friday, 13 March 2015, during a live transmission of Live Amp on SABC 1 at 21h00, with members of the public asked to vote for their favourite hit song of 2014. This one will be a zinger of a contest! “Apart from charting yet another fantastic year of South African music, this year’s South African Music Awards will be a truly memorable affair, coming of age in spectacular fashion as we salute the legacy that our musical forebears bequeathed to us while looking towards the bright new horizons and opportunities that beckon for our industry,” said Mika Chauke, Head of Communications and Stakeholder Relations for the XXI Annual South African Music Awards. Prepare for all the red carpet glamour, the nail biting tension and the drama, tears and hugs, as the countdown begins to the most prestigious music awards on the South African music calendar. Use the hashtag #SAMAXXI on social media platforms to rewind to when you were 21 as the XXI Annual South African Music Awards looks back and assesses how far the country and the music industry has come in the 21 years since the advent of democracy, and the birth of the awards. The XXI Annual South African Music Awards will be broadcast live on SABC 1 from Sun City at 20h30 on 19 April 2015. waZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga have set up a partnership to achieve integrated development and sustainable livelihoods to the benefit of citizens from both provinces. “The initial focus of the Interprovincial Forum will be on, but not restricted to, matters related to enhancing co-operation on the promotion of trade and production of commodities, in an endeavour to maximise economies of scale in the development of product and produce,” Mpumalanga Spokesperson Zibonele Mncwango said. He said the forum would also work towards securing export markets and aligning strategic development corridors. Mncwango said there would be a specific focus on cooperation with regards to agricultural production and agri-processing opportunities as well as conservation and tourism. The collaboration was also aimed at promoting cross boundary and sub-regional conservation as well as tourism opportunities. “The partnership will further deal with passenger, freight transport logistics and infrastructure in an endeavour to enhance the

movement of people, goods and services between the two provinces and to align long term infrastructure planning and intermodal facilities,” he said. The programme of action was finalised in Mbombela at a two-day interprovincial forum, which ended on Tuesday. The Premiers from both provinces were expected to sign a memorandum of understanding towards the end of April. “The partnership will integrate the people of KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga to ensure that sustained development in its totality is founded on the African Agenda, which promotes unity of people in all walks of life,” Mncwango said. - SAnews.gov.za

Iqhawe lomphakathi uBeauty uthe lokhu bekuhambisana nokugubha

“Eskom confirms that the price increase to be implemented on 1 April 2015 to Eskom direct customers is still 12.69% and for municipalities will be 14.25% from 1 July 2015 as approved by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) during November 2014,” it said on Friday. Eskom said its current financial position, as a result of historical non-cost reflective tariffs and the lag in recovery of eligible expenditure, does not afford its balance sheet the ability to pre-fund further costs that are necessitated by a constrained power system such as short term power purchases from independent power producers and municipal generators and the increased use of open cycle gas turbines. “These constraints have necessitated Eskom to explore options for further review of tariff increases for the 2015/16 financial year. Submissions in terms of the Multi-Year Price Determination (MYPD) methodology have been made to Nersa in this regard.” The power utility has initiated a selective reopener of the MYPD 3 application from the 2015/16 financial year onwards, which proposes an adjustment in the tariffs. This is due to costs incurred securing further short term power purchases and increased use of open cycle gas turbines. In terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Eskom is required to first consult with National Treasury and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) prior to submitting to Nersa for consideration. Eskom will consider these comments before submitting to Nersa. Nersa will then follow its normal governance processes before making a decision.

A Date With God & Your Health There Are People You Do Not Need In Your Life

TIPS FROM YOUR LOCAL

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

here are people you just do not need in your life because they are not helping you with anything, instead they are destroying you.

the Bible that they will see visions? Everything is turning to be the opposite of what God wanted and the reason for sending his son to die for us has been forgotten. I feel that it is important for people It is funny that we love the people to stop playing church and start who always make us do bad things; serving God because we do not we love the type of friends who get know the day or the hour that Christ us into trouble. You find young girls might come with. very happy and proud that they The most important thing is for you destroy other people's marriages or to fix your life, do not hide behind relationship, they are being used by your make up, clothes, fancy house the devil and you are busy running car, high position at work. It will with them, even if you are not doing not get you to heaven. Do not make what they are doing, there is a high poverty an excuse not to serve God, possibility that you might end up just serve God because you are doing what they are doing as well. alive and he gave you another day. Why don’t you learn to stand up for yourself say no to what is wrong? Why do people enjoy seeing other people in misery? How do people sleep at night when they know that what they have done is wrong? Life has changed, people are just heartless, young girls walk around half naked, young man are walking around robbing other people what has happened to what is written in

Do not be a photocopy, be yourself be an original person. Do you know that there are people who are scared to smile if their friends are not smiling? They are leaving a sad and miserable life, they make themselves to be like that and they must learn to stand up for themselves and put a stop to that misery. My brothers and sisters it is all up to you to decide what you

Inspiration With Eureka E phesians 3: 20-21"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

What is that power that works in us? We have spent so much time trying to find solutions in other people. We seek comfort in temporary relationships; we seek fulfilment in material things but always end up the same. Our Father is more than able to grant us all that we need, want and desire. But are you able to recognize the power that He has placed in you? That power will ensure that you push till you get what you need, and also be able to sustain that blessing when it comes. Psalms 86:13 "For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. “ Your soul is the one thing that the enemy longs for. That's where your decision making and emotions lie. No one can make sound decisions, until they have peace of mind. Isn't it funny how the enemy tries to distract you from seeing the bigger picture in life? Some of us may have made the mistakes but know that the mercy of our Father is bigger than that. Isaiah 38:2 "Hezekiah turned to the wall and prayed to the Lord.” How many of us actually run to God first when we are facing tough seasons? We always seem to have back-ups of people who we want to run to for comfort and rescue. We

Easy Access To Chronic Eurika Mogane inspirationaleurika@gami.com BBM: 2BA9B742 http://inspirationaleurika.com need to know one major thing. People will be there to help you, but only Christ can be your saviour. When we go through a painful or life changing seasons, we have two options. To either trust God to comfort us, or to trust in what our emotions say at the time. During those times, your emotions will say that you're a failure. And it's in that season that God is reminding you that you're a winner. When you spend time with someone you love, you start noticing what their facial expressions mean. Sometimes you can laugh with your friend by just giving them the usual look. We will only understand the signs that God gives us, after we have spent time with Him. You won't know what He is saying to you, until you know the One who is reaching out to you. Let's go back to seeking Him. Have a blessed week!

Medication In Gert Sibande

W

endy Jasson da Costa Patients on chronic medication who live in Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga now have more options to choose from when it comes to collecting their medication. The Central Chronic Medicine Distribution and Dispensing Programme (CCMDDP) is a joint initiative between Health Systems Trust (HST) and the Department of Health, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The aim of the programme is to improve patients’ access to chronic medicines and to pilot alternative procurement, dispensing and distribution systems by entering into public–private partnerships in National Health Insurance districts. HST’s Project Manager, Helecine Zeeman, says, “Many patients have to leave home at the crack of dawn every month just to collect lifesaving chronic medication and others apply for a day’s leave,
