Registered Electronic Communication Coming To Mpuma T radition says that when you want to send a registered letter you must go to the Post Office, stand in a queue, submit your letter and get a tracking number so you can track its delivery path. This tradition is about to become history with the emergence of Registered Electronic Communication. While this innovation is eco-friendly and extremely cost effective and with no up-front cash layout, it saves time as there is no binding of legal documents, physical delivery and not to mention the delayed feedback. If you thought that fax to email was the real deal for signed documents, then keep reading. Registering electronic communication like Email and SMS really turns the tables and renders the traditional way of sending registered mail out of date. Now you can send a registered official email or SMS, and receive an acknowledgment without having to physically go and queue at the Post Office. The certificate is presented in a digitally signed electronic document format which could be used as evidence at a court of law. Registered Communication, a South African Company, has teamed up with Lleida.net a Spanish and British company to

he Mpumalanga Excellence Awards (MEA’s) are an annual event held to celebrate the successes of Mpumalanga citizens who are spread across the Province and beyond. In their inaugural year, the MEA’s seek to discover/ celebrate/ honour the talents and skills of individuals whose work across different fields, help to uplift communities, build societies, change mentalities and inspire spirits. Mpumalanga’s excelling citizens may be spread across the country and the rest of the world, but it is here, at home, where their work has the most impact, as each good deed, inspire a hundred more of young minds that were in doubt of their abilities, into 100 young minds determined to change their lives in spite of their circumstances. The Mpumalanga Excellence Awards were launched after discovering the need to appreciate and honour Mpumalanga citizens who are excelling in their chosen fields while developing their communities. With different categories, spread across various fields, the MEA's seek to encourage citizens of Mpumalanga to be the ones spearheading the growth and development of the communities of the Province. Communities will have the liberty to nominate their chosen candidates and the MEA Committee will accept all nominations, which will then be put through a selection process, leaving ten nominees for each category, from whom the four official nominees will be chosen, with one ultimate winner announced on the night of the awards. There are a lot of awards categories to choose from each with sub categories ranging from Business Excellence Award, Young Entrepreneur Award, Best Private/ Public Partnership initiative, Woman in business Award, Excellence in Sports, Excellence in Media Award, Best Practice Award, Excellence in Marketing and Communications, Mpumalanga Excellence Award. Registered Electronic Communication Coming To Mpuma ....from page 01 Registered Communication, a South African Company, has teamed up with Lleida.net to bring to South Africa this innovation, and now it is coming to Mpumalanga to provide its Business, Municipalities and Residents with solutions to improve contracting and communication processes. Lleida.net has recently been short listed for the “Messaging and SMS World” Awards in the category of Best SMS solution with its Registered SMS service. The way this works is simple; Lleida.net certifies the data and meta-data associated with the sender and recipient email addresses, the content, any attachments (up to 5MB), as well as the date and time stamps. Both parties then receive a certificate for every email sent. In addition, copies of the certificates are available via the internet for a period of 5 years. This service promises to be the future of registered communication. Any organisation, be it private or government, that is involved with bulk communication, and allows itself to be left behind, might find it hard to catch up at a later stage. Jack Avondo, a Director and one of the founding members of Registered Communication in
South Africa says, "Registered electronic communications via the Lleida.net service, provides irrefutable proof that the original content of what was communicated between the parties is as what is recorded on the issued and uniquely numbered certificates."

Said Mashinini in his opening remarks. He made it clear that the mandate assigned to the Electoral Commission by the Constitution is remarkably straight-forward. It comprises just three elements: 1. To manage elections of national, provincial and municipal legislative bodies in accordance with national legislation; 2. To ensure that those elections are free and fair; and 3. To declare the results of elections in as short a period as reasonably possible. “That's it. No frills, no fuss. Straight-forward….but not simple!” he added. · There are just 1000 full-time staff members of the Electoral Commission · This core team is responsible for maintaining a voters' roll comprising approximately 25 million voters · Communicating with and educating about 55 million citizens – of whom about 32 million are of voting age · Managing some 22 263 voting districts – each with its own voting station · Managing one national and nine provincial elections every five years
· Managing an average of over 100 by-elections each year And then there are the municipal elections every five years and which are more intricate. “In order to succeed we must partner with others in the collective challenge of ensuring free and fair elections. That is why we rely on a large number of stakeholders to help with a wide variety of activities associated with the elections – from security, to transport, to monitoring and observation, to conflict-resolution and tolerance initiatives, to communications and education.” Clarified Mashinini. He went on to highlight that media was an important part of the whole process. “The direct role involves communicating constantly with all stakeholders throughout the electoral cycle on each aspect of the process. (Electoral value chain)” he said. This is done in a number of ways: – including direct communication with various stakeholders from citizens and eligible voters through print, radio, television and
Mpumalanga Speaker Wishes Premier Mabuza Strength In Pursuing His Duties The Mpumalanga Provincial Speaker, Ms Thandi Shongwe, has welcomed the Premier of the Mpumalanga Province, Mr DD Mabuza back. This follows his return to duty today after he was booked offsick by doctors due to excessive exhaustion. “I wish to appreciate and thank our Lord Almighty for the recovery and the return of the honourable Premier Mr DD Mabuza to work. I wish him strength and full courage in performing his duties as tasked by the people of the Province.” Citizens missed him while on sick leave and they have been anxious for his return. We also thank the
Religious Fraternity for the prayers and wishes made for the Premier. Speaker further encouraged the Premier never to give the Mpumalanga Province the scare that the province has gone through over the last two months. She reminded Premier that “he is human and the body can carry only so much. Premier must be encouraged where necessary to take a break; it has never happened that a person can work for five years without taking a deserving break.” The coming back of the Premier will strengthen the Provincial Government and
fast track service delivery. Speaker Shongwe reminded Premier Mabuza that the people of the Province still needs him as he has done so many things to better the lives of the people.
increasingly digital and social media platforms. – By the structured party liaison systems – By engaging with key intermediaries – like the media – who the public rely on for access to information and, more importantly, for help in analysing and interpreting that information. “One of the key outcomes of engagements like this today is precisely to provide information to you for further distribution to your own constituencies and audiences. But there is a second, indirect way that the Electoral Commission helps to ensure our electorate and all stakeholders are informed: it is called transparency and upholding international electoral standards.” Said Mashinini. Mashinini noted that each election also brings with it a new generation of first-time voters who must also be educated not only in the basics of how to register and vote but more importantly fundamental democracy education – including why it is important to participate. The Commission is further committed to ensure that in every corner of our country, every citizen should question for themselves – and be satisfied for themselves - that the conduct of the Commission strengthens our country's democracy and that our democratic processes are beyond reproach. In order to achieve that access to information is required. The IEC is armed with sacrosanct values as an organisation: · Impartiality · Integrity · Accountability · Transparency · Participation · Responsiveness · Respect “But these elections will also test our maturity as a democracy, as a nation.” He warned.
This he has done amongst others, through his Kancane Kancane Premier's legacy Project, DD Mabuza Foundation and his expertise are still vitally required. Lastly we would also like to thank the Acting Premier, MEC VR Shongwe for the work done while the premier was on leave. Premier Mabuza back at work on Tuesday

Handbag Project, an initiative of the Jes Foord Foundation. Jessica Foord, herself a victim of sexual violence, established the Foundation, and the handbag project became its flagship. Her motivation in establishing the handbag project was to give dignity and hope to victims of violence like herself. At the launch of the programme she said: “a handbag containing 'comfort' items can go a long way in helping the victim feel a little better. The most important item in the bag, however, is a letter with a few words of encouragement to restore some hope to the victim during this traumatic time.”
Sasol is committed to working in collaboration with community structures and organisations to improve lives for the better. This includes putting in place social and welfare interventions, community health support initiatives and health and wellness awareness programmes as per the company's strategic response to needs identified in communities around our operations. Women are some of the beneficiaries whose lives have been positively impacted by these interventions.
