Halloween is just over. Next week National Elections will be coming to an end, and we have many holidays to celebrate. First, we have Thanksgiving Day. It is our duty and honour to give thanks to Lord God for giving us a good job, nice house, sweet kids and all the happiness we enjoy in this world.
At this time as we remember our

close relatives and share food with heavenly blessings, let usthink about our neighbours, people in our communities, those who are in need and share something.
Thousands of people are suffering due to natural disasters like hurricanes in the South. Many people have nothing to celebrate coming holidays. They lost everything. Our district’s humanitarian wing, “VOICES” is collecting various things from cannedfoodstoclothes, shampoo, soaps, detergents, etc., etc. Let us chipinourwhateverpossibleshare and send it to Southern States.
This is the best time to donate money to LCIF for the natural disaster fund to help hurricane victims. Encourage club members to become Melvin Jones Fellows
and donate money to the Disaster Fund.
Those clubs who did not assign their Club LCIF Coordinators, it is time now to do so. Traditionally, the immediate past president should take this responsibility. If

Good morning, Lions & Leos!
It’s been an exciting month of October! New members being sworn in, a new Lions Club chartered, and 60+ Leos added to our family…OH MY!! Talk about taking Mission 1.5 and putting your stamp on it for the month of October! Many applauses all aroundforyoureffortsthismonth. I started the month joining the team behind this year’s Convention to discuss where we
he or she is not available, assign some hard-working lion for this position.
Let us give thanks to our God by sharing and caring for others, the needy people in our communities.
are at with our Governors Magic in Disney convention. Let me tell you thateveryone ontheteamissuper excited during these planning stages. There isn’t a stone being left unturned to ensure you all will have a fantastic time! Please make sure you’re talking up the convention to your club members. It’s incredibly important that we support Governor Brenda and blow the doors off the Westin Hotelwithexcitement,Lionismand Love.
This month alone I have had the pleasure of swearing in 8 new membersbetweenChicagoNurses for Diabetes and Chicago Ridge LionsClub.Ialsosworein60+new Leos and their officers to the Harold L. Richards Leo Club. These are the most exciting times as
leadership. Spending time during fellowshipwithnewLionsandLeos is always refreshing to listen to their reasons to join and what they are most passionate about.
I also attended the Palos Lions Club 75th Anniversary where they not only recognized their members, but they also recognize first responders from six different township departments. Palos Lions are unique in that they serve three townships within their community of service. Palos Park, Palos Heights and Palos Hills. All three police and fire departments recognized a first responder of the year and awarded those individuals with plaques and a round of applause from the audience in attendance.
As convention season rolls in, Governors and Vice Governors will visit other conventions throughout our MD1 (Multiple District) to support those Governors and Vice Governors who are on our respective council or future council.Ispeakaboutrelationships at the club, zone/region and district level and how important it isthatweallestablishandmaintain those relationships because
synergy will help make your time as a Lion so much easier. We practice this at the leadership level as well. Insert what I mentioned earlier about attending the conventions outside of 1A. We as Governors and Vice Governors believe very strongly that a unified front or relationships if you will, amongsteachother, willblossoma strong MD1 for the future. I spent this past weekend visiting District 1M to support Governor Ruthey Wimbley and Governor Elect Mark Wyer. The fun and fellowship from our family to the south is always nothing short of remarkable. Lastly, to wrap up October I left Champaign and stopped by the Tinley Park Lions Football Fundraiser.Fromthegiftbasketsto thetimewithLionsfamilytoseeing how excited they were for their event was a sight to see. Seeing our Chicago Bears lose is a whole other story that I refuse to share withyou.Ihavenothingnicetosay about that. Lol
Lions of District 1A, I know there weremanymoreeventsthismonth that I missed but I want to make sure that you know my heart was and is always with you. I truly wish
there was more time in a day and month to get to everyone, but I can’t. Congrats on all your events. Keep up the great work, it never goes unnoticed. Always make sure to plug those events into the Lions Portal so I can see all the great accomplishments. The month of November is going to be another busy month of events, so I hope to see as many of you next month as I can.
In the spirit of Halloween, you knowwhatwouldbescary?Ifevery club from our district at minimum
brought one new prospective member to just sit in on our meetings. Then record that in your meeting minutes, follow up with them and then maybe, just maybe, come November we will be THANKFUL for 74 new members…Talk about a Thanksgiving treat for our district. :)
Forever Yours in Service,

Dear Lions and Leos,
Each time I witness or hear about a service project made possible through an LCIF grant, I am inspired and filled with immense pride because of the innovative ways Lions and Leos across the globe make a difference in our communities. I encourage you to learn more about LCIF grant opportunities to see if there is a grant that can enhance your club’s or district’s impact in your communities, including a new Vision Grant opportunity that I hope you will explore.
Each and every one of your gifts to the foundation enables LCIF to offer these life-changing grants. Thank you to everyone who continues
to support our global foundation, and thank you as well for sharing your stories of service with the world. You are all an important part of our success.
Yours in service,
Dr. Patti Hill, LCIF Chairperson

Global Membership Approach
As of November. 1st numbers, we sit at a plus in membership for the Year. I would like to thank the twenty-five clubs who made the effort to strengthen your clubs by adding members. The number one reason for adding members to our clubs is more hands for more service. Eleven of the twenty-five added members to offset drops. That’ s exactly what needs to be done, lose one add two. The service grows and it relieves the stress put on our members trying to maintain the good things we do in our communities with less help.
Governor Brenda is asking that each club do their best in adding members to your club this year. She would be honored to be sending in your applications for the club excellence award at the end of your successful year.
One of the items needed is a plus two in membership. We have twelve clubs right now that have that item checked off. They just need to keep their members satisfied. A happy Lion never leaves a club… Learn more about the Club Excellence Award from your Region and Zone Chairs.
MemberSatisfaction
Here are a few tips that will help you get started in defining member satisfaction in your club:
• Ask your members! Members feel involved when you ask for their opinions. Ask your members: Why is the club here? Do our activities demonstrate this? If a non-Lion looked at one year of our events, what would they think is essential to our club? o You can use the Member Questionnaire at the back of this guide to facilitate this conversation and modify it to fit your needs.
• Assess why your members have left in the past. While there are some common themes worldwide, it will help if you contact former members to learn why they left. Along with the New Member Questionnaire in this guide, there is a Former Member Questionnaire that you can modify to fit your needs. o Consider devoting time during a club meeting or holding a special meeting to discuss member satisfaction.
• Carefully consider whether your club’s stated objectives, goals and mission statement reflect what your current members want your club to be.
NewClub Development &ClubRebuilding

As always, please contact out team if you have a group or area that you believe would continue to move our District forward in positive membership growth and more service to area underserved.
