festive and jovial time, it’s always nice during these Covid times. The food and karaoke entertainment were great. The Chicago Philippine Lions Club had their Christmas Party & Governor’s Visit on December 18, 2021, at Region Chairperson Brenda Steven’s home. Barb and I had a great time. It was nice being able to visit with all the great Lions. Thanks to the Chicago Philippine Lions club and RC Brenda for her great hospitality. On January 14 & 15, 2022, Barb and I attended the MD-1 Vice Governor Elect Training School (VGETS). We received great training for the upcoming year and were able to get to know the other Vice Governor’s from the other nine districts in our state. This is important because we will be working closely together during our year we are District Governor’s. I can say that the other Vice District Governors are very nice and dedicated Lions. I attended the second Region 4 Meeting on January 24, 2022The meeting was held virtually due to Covid and they had two great presentations . Dave Hanson gave everyone an update on VOICES and Jenna Brown of Love Smiles, a

non-profit bringing comfort through books to children with pediatric cancer. It was great to hear the club bragging rights and see how active they are within their communities. Thanks to all clubs and individuals able to help with the Kentucky Tornado Relief Effort. Kudos especially to the Riverside Township Lions club and Karl Schulz for transporting two trailers full of donations to Kentucky. I will be attending the 4th Council of Governors Meeting in East Peoria, IL on February 4 & 5, 2022. The Governor, 1st VDG Tony and I continue meeting regularly to stay on top of our District Goals. We still have half of Gail’s term left, and I look forward to continuing working with Gail, Tony and her entire team to accomplish all the goals we can in our great district! I have the Region 5 meeting on my calendar for February 24, 2022, at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, IL at 6:30pm. Please consider attending the MD1 Spring Forum to be held in Springfield, IL on March 5, 2022. Our MD-1 GMA Champion Darren VanDuyn has put together a great selection of topics and presenters
