Hello MD-1Lions,
Hello MD-1 Lions, Fall has arrived, Pumpkin Spice time! And another successful month for MD 1 Lions has just ended. The Multiple continues to grow, we are currently a plus in membership for the 3rd month in a row.
Congratulations to all the Lions for your hard work. Let’s keep this positive force moving. Service activities continue to increase, and I have heard the District Governors comment on how busy they are attending Club Visits and fundraisers in their Districts. This is a good thing.
There is also talk of a couple new clubs in the making in the future. I have my fingers and toes crossed that this will indeed happen.
I am happy to announcethat the $100,000 Multiple District grant has been approved by LCIF and all paperwork has been signed by MD 1. This grant is for ½ of the
funding for a new LIF Vision & Hearing bus. LIF can now proceed with the plans for this new vision bus.
The Governors continueto be busy and they continue to be a pleasure to work with. Check out what they have been up to in the state:
1. Hopedale Storage Locker: The retention timeframes for our important documents have been identified and we can now proceed with the purging of outdated documents. We will begin with identifying all the financial documents that can be destroyed. We will then have these documents shredded.
2. The Governors are reviewing policy manual changes. Please feel free to submit any policy manual changes to the council for review in the proper format.
3. At our last Council meeting in September, the Council approved PDG Ron Fruit 1 D our International ConventionChair and PDG Kathy Dieker 1 GCo chair.
Congratulations to both Lions, we look forward to a well planned International Convention for the MD 1 Lions in Boston.
4. The Governors also approved the Mid Year Forum to take place March 10-11, 2023. Stay tuned for more information regarding this event in thenear future.
5. Governor Irene Lepold and the District 1 BKPDG’s have submitted the name ofLion Tom Drez for consideration for the office of Second Vice District Governor and Lions International has approved their selection. Let’s all welcome Lion Tom Drez in his new role. He is going to be a great fit for 1 BK and the multiple as a whole.
6. State ConventionChair and PDG Barb Stewart, District 1 D and Foundation Trustee Guideon Richeson, District 1 CN have been selected and approved as MD 1 Co Champions for our State GMA Team.
If your club or district has a resolution to be submitted. Please
note your resolution must be submitted to PDG Ron Fruit committee chairman of Constitution& By laws. Your resolutions must be written in the correct format. It is the Committee’s responsibility to review, recommend and/or reject these resolutions. These resolutions will be voted on by the Lions of Illinois at our State Convention May 19 21, 2023.
The GAT Summit was also held on Sept 10. Our GAT/GMA team spoke to the group to help them develop their Leadership skills to attract members and implement service projects.
A big thank you to IPDG Lori Chasse our state leadership chair for coordinating/planning this year’s program with the help of PID Dan O’Reilly GMT (Filling in for PDG Deb Greaney), PDG Joni McMillan GST and PCC Darren Van Duyn Constitutional Area 1 Lead. Keep up the great work that you do in your communities, because if not you WHO???
Interested in moving up the ladder in Lions? Reach out to your District Leaders. I guarantee they will be interested in talking with you.
Until next month……….

We have completed the first quarter of our Lions year and I want to first congratulate and thank all the Lions that have
stepped up to serve their communities and this great organization. Wetrained 23 Lions at the Regional LIons Leadership Institute, and then followed that up with over 50 Lions in attendance at the September Global Action Team Summit…THANK YOU All.
In past articles I have talked about resources and hope you all have had time to look at the wealth of information available to you at the website, but that is only one type of information. The best information to be had can come to you from other Lions! In evaluations of the programs that we hold, over and over again comments are made that meeting and exchanging information with
Illinois Lion & Leo
fellow Lions is one of the huge pluses of going to these events. Don’t miss out on opportunities to share your knowledge about Lions, your activities, and your club plans with fellow Lions. I promise you will come away with a multitude of wonderful ideas. You will make new friends as well!
The next big thing on thehorizon is our Spring Forum, to be held March 10 & 11, plans are being made and more information will follow. It is now that I would like to hear from Lions across the state as to what wouldmake this a
meaningful learning opportunity for you. What would you like to know more about? What will be of value to you and your Clubs? What would you like the Forum to look like? Please reach out with any ideas you may have that will make a better Forum, and I encourage you to put this on your calendar now and plan on meeting some new Lions and exchanging some great ideas!
