Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi from Washington, he went back with growing American demands for India to buy more US products, from energy to hi tech defense systems.
The US it seems will become the largest supplier of energy and defense goods to India, replacing Russia.
The sticking point of new tariffs on Indian exports was not clear. India, which has an average tariff rate of 12% compared to the U.S.’s 2.2%, is reported to have presented concessions to address trade concerns. Discussions are underway on increasing U.S. agricultural exports to India, investments in nuclear energy, and tariff reductions across
multiple sectors, including electronics, medical equipment, and chemicals.

It was not all bad though with Modi unflaggingly put a good face on immigration and trade – the two points high on the PM’s agenda and urgency in coming to Washington – and Trump engaging in a good show of bonhomie.
Not all off the announcements made were new. Several US media reports said, was a continuation of what the Biden administration had in place but was being presented as a new one by the new US government.

5 Habits To Improve Your Math Grades
Struggling with math class? If so, here are five habits you can adopt to ace the subject:
1. Meet with your teacher: If you’re feeling a bit lost during a lesson or you receive a grade on a test that you’re not happy about, see your teacher about it. Most teachers want their students to thrive and are happy to schedule an appointment to go over tricky concepts. If your teacher has a tight schedule, they may be able to recommend learning resources or a good tutor. Don’t be embarrassed about sharing your struggles. The important thing is to speak up sooner rather than later so you don’t fall further behind.
2. Equip yourself with the right tools: When shopping for educational tools, you don’t need to compromise your learning poten-
tial to stay within budget. Give yourself every advantage you need to succeed by equipping yourself with an affordable calculator that helps you actually understand the concepts behind the equations, and one which will save you time
when you need it most. With its Natural Textbook Display and intuitive icon menu, the fx-9750GIII graphing calculator from Casio is incredibly easy to use, whether you’re graph plotting, doing vector arithmetic or creating a spread-
sheet. Approved for the SAT, PSAT, ACT and AP tests, this model includes Exam Mode to lock specific functionality for testing purposes, making it a must-have tool not only during late night study sessions and daily lessons, but also during timed tests
3. Study regularly: It’s a good idea to review recent chapters and class notes after school each day, even if there is no formal homework assignment. You may even want to complete a few relevant practice exercises. Doing so will help you synthesize the information from the latest lesson and prime you to learn new material the next time class meets.
4. Stay sharp: Free online educational tools can help you stay
sharp, even when class is out of session. Check out Casio’s education blog found at casioeducation. com/blog for exam-specific study tips, math activities and advice on using your calculator effectively.
5. Stay organized: Create a system for note-taking that works for you and be sure to keep your notes, assignments and marked up quizzes and exams tidy. This organization will not only aid your comprehension of the material, but also help you find the information you need to prepare for exams and complete assignments.
Whether math is your favorite subject or the one that puts the heaviest strain on your GPA, you can form great habits that will help you make the grade.

Choosing Healthy Beverages For Kids And Teens
Choosing healthy beverages for children and adolescents is just as important as choosing healthy foods, as it impacts everything from oral health to chronic disease risk. That’s why leading health and nutrition organizations developed new healthy beverage recommendations for families with children ages 5-18.
These evidence-based recommendations were created as part of a collaboration by experts at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Heart Association, who were brought together by Healthy Eating Research (HER) with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
To make choosing healthy beverages easier for families, the organizations created these three categories:
Beverages
to Drink
These beverages are recommended as part of a healthy diet because they provide essential nutrients,
such as vitamins and minerals, and don’t contain added sugars.
• Plain drinking water is still the best option to keep kids healthy and hydrated. It’s also often the most accessible and affordable.
• Plain, pasteurized milk is another healthy option because it provides important nutrients that growing kids and teens need.
Beverages to Limit
• 100 percent fruit and vegetable juice can be part of a healthy diet, but daily consumption should be limited. Whole fruits and vegeta-
bles are generally better choices because they provide dietary fiber, contributing to a feeling of fullness.
• Plant-based milk alternatives like oat milk and almond milk should be limited because they are not nutritionally equivalent to cow’s milk, which provides essential nutrients that kids need to grow up healthy. Many also contain added sugars and non-sugar sweeteners, which are harmful to kids’ health. If your child is allergic to dairy milk or has a dietary restriction, talk to your doctor or registered dietitian about finding the plant-based milk alternative that is best for your child.
• Flavored milks, like chocolate milk and strawberry milk, should be limited because they contain high amounts of added sugars and non-sugar sweeteners. If your child does not like drinking plain milk, it’s best to consider other foods from the dairy group (like unsweetened yogurt) before offering flavored milk.
Beverages to Avoid
These beverages are not recommended as part of a healthy diet because they offer no nutritional value and have ingredients that can be harmful to kids and teens.
• Sugar-sweetened beverages, such as sports drinks, sodas, fruit drinks, fruitades, aguas frescas and sweetened waters are high in added sugars, which can put children at risk for dental cavities, and diet-related diseases like type 2 diabetes and obesity.
• Drinks with non-sugar sweeteners, such as aspartame, stevia and monk fruit, should also be avoided. Just because a drink is advertised as sugar-free doesn’t mean it’s healthier. In fact, new research shows non-sugar sweeteners may not help control body weight and
may increase the risk of diet-related chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
• Drinks with caffeine or other stimulants like taurine should be avoided. These include energy drinks, energy shots, coffee, and tea. Evidence suggests that there is no safe amount of caffeine consumption for children under 18 and that even small amounts can lead to poor sleep quality, increased blood pressure, and depressive moods and anxiety.
You can learn more about healthy drinks at healthyeatingresearch. org.
“We all want our kids to grow up healthy, and research shows that what kids and teens drink is an important part of a balanced diet, not just what they eat. But there are so many drink products on the market, it can be hard to figure out what’s healthy and what’s not,” said Megan Elsener Lott, MPH, RDN, deputy director of HER. “These recommendations provide a gold standard based on the latest research and can be goals that families work toward together.” (StatePoint)

Why This Flavor Will Be On Your Plate In 2025
Aji Amarillo, which translates to “yellow chile pepper,” is grown in Peru and is native to South America.
Long considered a staple ingredient in Peruvian cuisine, this moderate-heat pepper with fruity notes reminiscent of passionfruit and mango is going to spice things up in kitchens worldwide in the year ahead.
That’s according to the McCormick Flavor Forecast 25th edition, a well-researched annual report exploring the culinary trends shaping the future of flavor in homes, restaurants and grocery stores.
“Our Flavor of the Year, Aji Amarillo, lends itself to amplifying both sweet and tangy flavors and adds dimension to smoked or charred items,” says Hadar Cohen Aviram, executive chef and senior manager, Culinary Development, U.S. Con-
sumer at McCormick. “The Aji Amarillo Seasoning is a delicious, sweet and spicy blend that enhances any dish including seafood, poultry, sauces, salsas and more.”
With foodies today increasingly craving flavors that offer both sweet and spicy elements—nearly one-tenth of U.S. restaurants have “sweet and spicy” menu items, ac-
cording to Datassential—the predicted popularity of Aji Amarillo aligns perfectly with the “swicy” trend.
To bring this delicious complexity into your own kitchen, try this recipe for Queso Fundido from McCormick—a rich, molten blend of melty cheese, it’s the perfect match for the tropical flavors, smoke, and
Heat oil in medium cast-iron skillet on medium high heat. Add onion
and garlic, cook and stir until deep golden brown and slightly charred, about 5 minutes. Remove from skillet; mix with 3 teaspoons of the Aji Amarillo Seasoning.
2. Place 1 1/2 cups Oaxaca cheese and 1/2 cup Cotija cheese in skillet. Layer with the onion mixture and cooked chorizo, top with remaining cheese.
3. Bake until the cheese is bubbling, about 5 to 7 minutes.
4. Remove from oven and garnish with cilantro, sliced green onions and 1 teaspoon Aji Amarillo seasoning. Serve hot with tortilla chips.
“Americans are adventurous eaters and that’s reflected in our Flavor of the Year, Aji Amarillo, a true embodiment of flavors that pack a punch,” says Cohen Aviram. (StatePoint)
4 Ways Financial Professionals Recommend You Spend Your Tax Refund
Receiving a tax refund this year? While it can be tempting to impulse spend, if you want to really treat yourself, financial professionals recommend using the payout for practical expenses.
According to CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNING® professionals, here are smart
ways to spend your tax refund that will improve your life:
1. Build an emergency fund: Unexpected circumstances, such as illness or job loss, can leave you with more bills and less income. Not having an emergency fund puts you at risk of having to take on high-interest
debt to meet expenses.
Use your tax refund to create some peace of mind for yourself and your family. And now that you’ve started the emergency fund, consider using direct deposit to funnel a portion of each paycheck into this account.
2. Reduce debt: Paying down debt can feel like an insurmountable challenge. And if it’s a challenge you’ve been avoiding, you can use your tax refund to kick-start your journey. Not sure where to start? A CFP® professional can help you identify which debt to prioritize first, as well as help you craft a repayment strategy moving forward.
3. Save for retirement: No matter your age or stage in life, a tax refund offers a great opportunity to give your retirement account a boost. Thanks to compounding, the money you set aside today in an investment account, such as a 401(k) or Roth IRA, will exponentially grow between now and when it’s time
to tap your nest egg.
4. Set financial goals: From planning a vacation or wedding to becoming a homeowner, your goals are worth investing in. Put your tax refund toward something that matters to you.
The best thing you can do may be avoiding future refunds. While it feels great to receive a big check during tax time, a tax refund is effectively an interest-free loan you have made to the government. You’re much better off keeping more of your money throughout the year so you can invest it or use it on things you need. Consult a CFP® professional on how to adjust your withholdings to get closer to breaking even next year.

With an actionable plan and the help of a qualified financial professional, you can ensure your tax refund is put to good use. (StatePoint)
Expanding Paid Family Medical Leave Positions Moms And Babies To Thrive
Paid leave prevents workers and their families from falling down a financial rabbit hole when breadwinners need time away from their jobs to care for a loved one, a newborn child or to address their own serious health issue.
For new moms, infants and toddlers, these programs are vital.
As of January 2025, only 13 states and Washington D.C. have or will soon have statewide paid family and medical leave programs in place. Expanding paid family and medical leave programs nationwide is an important matter of equity and security.
This is because just 27% of workers have paid family leave through their jobs absent a state policy, and low-wage workers are 10 times less likely to have access than the highest-paid workers.
“For all too many families, caring for a newborn child means being at risk for falling behind on rent, groceries, gas and other day-today essentials,” says Katie Bishop Kendrick, national senior advocacy consultant, National Collaborative for Infants and Toddlers.
“During these critical months after the birth
of a new child, new parents should have the time needed to bond with and properly care for their newborns, and to rest and heal after giving birth.”
A growing body of research shows that paid family and medical leave not only helps individuals and families, it benefits communities and is good for business.
These programs are associated with greater workforce retention, are estimated to reduce the share of workers who are poor, and are found to reduce the use of other public benefit programs, according to Urban Institute research for the U.S. Department of Labor.
While there are concerns that state leave programs will lead to overuse, or unmanageable hits to a state’s workforce, program data
shows that only a small share of workers (about 3-7%) use state paid leave programs each year.
Some states use a fixed percentage approach to wage replacement while others follow a sliding-scale. States also fund their programs differently.
Advocates say that no matter what model is followed, one thing is clear: comprehensive, universal state paid leave provides financial security to working people at minimal individual cost.
For more information about paid family and medical leave programs, visit ncit.org.
“Paid family and medical leave positions families and babies to thrive,” says Bishop Kendrick.
“Federal lawmakers should use comprehensive state programs as examples to design a national program.
Doing so will ensure more American families have the resources they need during this foundational period in a child’s life.” (StatePoint)
5 Easy Steps To Create Your Homebuying Budget
One of the most important steps to take while house hunting is to create an intentional budget that accounts for both upfront costs and recurring expenses. Doing so will help you find a home that meets both your lifestyle needs and financial situation. Here’s how:
1. Assess What You Can Afford: A common way to generally estimate the price range of a home you can afford is to multiply your annual gross income (what you earn before taxes) by three to five, according to Fidelity. Understand that mortgage rates will have a big impact too.
Lower rates can substantially increase your purchasing power. Lenders set an interest rate for each person based on several factors, such as credit score. A higher credit score could mean a lower interest rate or better loan term.
2. Account for Upfront Costs: When budgeting, account for these one-time upfront costs you’ll pay after your offer is accepted:
The down payment: This is typically between 5% and 20% of the home’s purchase price. However, qualified borrowers can put down as little as 3% with options such as Freddie Mac’s Home Possible or HomeOne mortgages. Both require private mortgage
insurance, which is an additional expense to consider. Earnest money deposit: Earnest money, also known as a good faith deposit, amounts to approximately 1%-2% of the pur-
chase price of the home and is a sum you submit with your offer to show the seller you’re serious. During closing, the amount you pay in earnest money can be applied toward your down payment or closing costs.

3. Plan for Ongoing Expenses: Once you’re in the home, you’ll be responsible for making monthly payments. These may include your mortgage principal, interest, property taxes, homeowners insurance, private mortgage insurance, escrow payments and homeowners association fees. Most lenders agree that you should spend no more than 30% of your gross monthly income on these expenses, though this number will depend on your financial situation. You’ll also need to save for regular maintenance expenses, such as appliance upkeep.
4. Leave Room for Flexibility: Be sure to factor in savings for repairs or replacements of big-ticket items, such as your roof or HVAC system. Such flexibility in your budget can also help you weather financial emergencies, such as job loss, illness and other unexpected circumstances.
5. Use Tools to Guide Your Decision: To help you answer the critical question of how much home you can afford, use Freddie Mac’s home affordability calculator found at myhome.freddiemac.com. Could Your Fatigue And Breathing Symptoms Be EGPA?
An estimated 5,000 people in the United States are living with Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA), a rare form of vasculitis that causes inflammation or swelling in the small and medium blood vessels. While it can cause damage to organs throughout the body, it most often affects the lungs.
The American Lung Association’s new EGPA Educational Campaign, provided with support from AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline, strives to educate people living with EGPA, and their families and caregivers about this serious, but treatable disease. Here’s what they want you to know:
Symptoms are varied: EGPA can manifest differently based on what organs are affected. However, nearly everyone living with EGPA will experience these signs and symptoms:
• Feeling frequently ill and tired
• Loss of appetite, resulting in weight loss
• Fever
• Asthma and/or sinus polyps
• A higher-than-normal level of eosinophils, a type of white blood cell
Patients may also experience shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain, rashes, muscle and joint pain, nasal discharge, facial pain, abdominal pain or bloody stools,
numbness or loss of strength, tingling in hands and feet, and kidney
Top Tips For Starting A New Business
Starting a small business is an exciting journey, and one that many Americans hope to make a reality. More than six in 10 U.S. adults say they would prefer to be their own boss, according to a Shopify-Gallup Entrepreneurship study.
However, in an ever-changing landscape, the prospect of launching and sustaining a business can feel intimidating. That’s why The UPS Store, which has supported small business owners with the resources they need to grow, thrive and reach their goals for 45 years, is offering these tips to put your entrepreneurial ideas into action:
1. Refine Your Idea: Coming up with an idea is the first step toward establishing a successful business. This phase involves recognizing market needs and determining how you can fill a gap. Refining your concept will help establish a solid groundwork for everything that follows, ensuring that your enterprise aligns with your vision and values.
2. Identify Your Passion, Skills and Purpose: Your passion and purpose are what will fuel your entrepreneurial journey, and your unique skills will allow your business to stand out in a crowded marketplace.
3. Evaluate the Competition: Having a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape is crucial. By evaluating other small businesses, you gain valuable insights into their strengths, weaknesses and the strategies they employ. Start by identifying your direct and indirect competitors. Take note of their product or service offerings, pricing strategies, marketing and SEO tactics and customer reviews. This information can illuminate gaps in the market and highlight opportunities for positioning your business. Remember, competition isn’t inherently negative. It can provide motivation and inspiration.
4. Research Market Demand: To validate your business idea and ensure its viability, you’ll need
to gather information about your target customers, competitors and overall industry trends. This market research will ensure your business idea resonates with potential customers, help you refine your offerings, and prepare you for market ups and downs. Remember, informed decisions today pave the way for a successful business tomorrow.
5. Utilize Available Resources: Let The UPS Store be your onestop-shop in making your business easier to manage. Make copies of important paperwork, arrange to shred documents you no longer need, pack and ship products to customers, or secure a mailbox to provide your business with a real street address. disease.
Persistence, patience are key to diagnosis: Timely diagnosis and treatment are critical to optimally managing and minimizing symptoms. But getting the right diagnosis may take years, and involve a clinical exam, blood tests to check your white blood count, a urinalysis, a chest X-ray or CT scan, and a biopsy. Those who have been through the process say it can be frustrating, and that persistence is needed to get proper care.
“My first EGPA symptoms included severe adult-onset asthma, congestion due to nasal and sinus polyps, arm pain due to neuropathy, and urticaria – a condition that causes hives. Despite being a physician myself and asking repeatedly if I had EGPA, I didn’t receive the right diagnosis and treatment for 2.5 years. Eventually I paid out of pocket to see an EGPA expert and enrolled in an EGPA clinical trial. After various medication adjustments, I am now 10 years out from diagnosis, and have had no active symptoms for 5 years,” says Dr. Anne Tournay, an EGPA patient.
Treatment can help: There is no cure, but treatment can reduce symptoms, decrease the risk of organ damage, and improve your quality of life. Because EGPA can affect multiple organs, you may need to work with more than one healthcare provider. They’ll review your disease severity, the organs involved, current medications, and other health conditions. Medications may be prescribed, such as anti-inflammatories, which help reduce swelling in the body, immunosuppressants, which can lower your immune system’s activity, and biologics, which target inflamma-
tion caused by eosinophils.
Lifestyle changes support management: Good health practices, like keeping vaccinations up to date, eating a well-balanced diet, staying active and getting adequate sleep can help you feel your best. It is also important to quit smoking, to avoid secondhand smoke and to protect yourself from fumes, dust and chemicals. Other strategies include tracking any new, worsening or changing EGPA side effects or symptoms, managing your asthma and seeing your healthcare provider regularly.
Support is available: EGPA is rare, but you’re not alone. Get your questions answered and find support:
• Contact the Lung Helpline at 1-800-LUNGUSA, where you can talk to trained lung health professionals and receive a free health journal.
• Living with Lung Disease Support Community and Living with Asthma Support Community, which provide anonymous 24/7 peer-to-peer support on Inspire. com.
• The Patient & Caregiver Network, which provides free, direct access to education and support.
Not sure if your symptoms could be EGPA? The American Lung Association will be hosting a free webinar on March 5, intended for those with rare and complex lung diseases that may be misdiagnosed as asthma or another more common lung disease. Dr. Sanober Kable, a pulmonologist and critical care specialist, will discuss different examples of rare lung diseases, signs and symptoms to watch for, and the steps you can take to ensure you have the correct diagnosis. Be sure to sign up online to attend this virtual event.

By better understanding Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis, you can take control of your symptoms, get needed support, and better manage the disease. (StatePoint)
2025—A One-Of-A-Kind Year!
By Aziz Inan
1. 2025 is a perfect square year since 2025 equals the square of 45. The last perfect square year before 2025 was 1936 (44 x 44) that occurred 89 years ago and the one before 1936 was 1849 (43 x 43), which occurred 87 years before 1936. The next two perfect square years after 2025 will be 2116 (46 x 46) to occur 91 years later and 2209 (47 x 47) to occur 93 years after 2116. So currently, there is approximately one perfect square year occurring in each century, but such years will get further apart from one another in the future.
2. 2025 is also special because it equals the sum of the cubes of natural numbers 1 through 9.
3. Further, the square root of 2025, namely 45, equals the sum of natural numbers 1 through 9.
4. Moreover, the leftmost and the rightmost two digits of 2025, namely 20 and 25, add up to 45, the square of which equals 2025. In all four-digit years, there is only one more year that possesses the above four properties.
This year is 3025, to occur 1000 years later in the 4th millennium. 3025 equals the square of 55. It equals the sum of the cubes of natural numbers 1 through 10. The square root of 3025, namely 55, equals the sum of natural numbers 1 through 10. Also, the leftmost and the rightmost halves of 3025, namely 30 and 25, add up to 55, and square of 55 is 3025. Other properties of 2025 are as follows: Twice or one-half of the reverse of 2025, namely 5202, also equals a perfect-square number: twice 5202 equals the square of 102 and half of 5202 is the square of 51.
6. 2025 can be expressed as product of two perfect square numbers in two different ways: 2025 = 9 x 225, where 9 = 3 x 3 and 225 = 15 x 15. Also, 2025 = 25 x 81, where 25 = 5 x 5 and 81 = 9 x 9.
7. If every digit of 2025 is incremented by one, the result, 3136, remains a perfect square number, since 3136 = 56 x 56.
8. All people born in 1980 will celebrate their 45th birthday in 2025, which equals the square of 45.
When asked about his age, famous Indian-born British mathematician Augustus de Morgan, who lived in the 19th century, remarked: I was x years old in the year x square. Indeed, De Morgan was born in 1806 and he turned 43 in perfect square year 1849, which equals 43 x 43.

Don’t Forget These 6 Things On The Day Of Your College Entrance Exams
While every institution weighs college entrance exam scores a little bit differently, one thing is certain: doing well can only boost your application to the school of your choice.
That’s why you don’t want to leave anything to chance on the day of your test. Pack these items the night before so you can grab extra sleep in the morning:
1. An extra layer: There is nothing more distracting than being hot or cold. Remember, you’ll be sitting still in the test site for a long time, so you want to make sure you’re prepared. Dress in layers so you can stay comfortable, no matter what temperature the room is.
2. A snack and water bottle: Bring a snack and a water bottle so you can stay focused on the test questions, not a growling stomach. The college entrance exam is a marathon, not a sprint, so opt for brain-healthy snacks that will keep you fueled to think straight for hours, such as nuts, dark chocolate or berries, and avoid options that will make you sluggish or cause your blood sugar to spike and crash.
3. A calculator: Ace the math portion of the exam with a calculator you can count on. The fx-9750GIII graphing calculator from Casio, for example, is approved for the SAT, PSAT, ACT and AP tests, and features an intuitive icon menu, making it incredibly easy to use, even when your work is being timed. With
hundreds of hours of battery life, it’s a reliable choice for a long day of testing.
4. Writing utensils: While some college entrance exams are now being administered digitally, you’ll still want to make sure you’re equipped with several pens or freshly-sharpened pencils for scratch work. And if you are taking the test on paper, be sure to bring No. 2 pencils with erasers.
5. A testing device: If you’ll be taking the test digitally, bring a fully-charged, approved testing device and charger. The device should also have any needed testing software already installed.
6. Your identification and test ticket: Most exams require you to bring an admissions ticket and photo identification. For a smooth test day, don’t leave these items at home.
Tests like the ACT and SAT are important pieces of the college admissions puzzle. Being prepared for test day with all the items you need can help you stay focused, and perform your best. (StatePoint)

He has never held a solo press conference. In 2023, under pressure from the administration, he took just two questions during a joint appearance with then President Joe Biden.
Indian Americans: During the joint press conference, Modi also said, “The Indian community in America is an important link in our relationship. To deepen our people-to-people ties, we will soon open new Indian consulates in Los Angeles and Boston.” He also said, “We have invited American universities and educational institutions to open offshore campuses in India.”
Adani: Billionaire Gautam Adani, known for his close ties with Modi, has be charged with fraud in the US over a $250m bribery scheme. “Firstly, India is a democratic country, and our culture and our thought philosophy is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which basically means that the entire world is a family. Every Indian is my own family member,” Modi said at the press conference. He then called it a “personal matter.”
India-China: Trump said, “I look at India, I do see the skirmishes on the border, which are quite vicious, and I guess they continue to go on. If I could be of help, I’d love to help because that should be stopped. That’s been going on for a long time and it’s quite violent. It’s quite violent.” Swiftly, India turned down the offer saying it has always adopted a bilateral approach in such cases.
India will buy oil: Highlighting India’s growing energy needs, Trump said, “We have some very big things to talk about; they (India) are going to be purchasing a lot of our oil and gas (from the US).” He added, “We have more oil and gas than any other country in the world and they (India) need it, and we have it.” India and the United States have reached an agreement that will make Washington “a leading supplier of oil and gas to India”, which could help bridge the trade deficit between the two countries, Trump flatters Modi: “He is doing a great job in India and he and I share a great friendship and we will continue to build on ties between our nations.” Welcoming Modi to the White House, Trump greeted him with a hug, saying, “We missed you a lot.”
Trump gift: Modi got a personalized photobook capturing their camaraderie over the years during their meeting.

Brains Vs. Brawn: Putting The Latest Tech To The Test
Before making a big tech purchase, it’s a good idea to compare product claims with third-party research.
That’s where Allstate Protection Plans comes in. Since 2013, the protection plan provider has offered consumers an independent assessment of the durability of the latest and greatest tech against the rigors of everyday life. And now, its researchers have turned attention on the new Galaxy S25 Ultra, which, according to Samsung, is the “slimmest, lightest and most durable Galaxy Ultra device ever.”
Sporting Galaxy AI, Samsung’s most advanced artificial intelligence yet, the S25 Ultra features a sleek titanium frame, a Corning Gorilla Glass Armor 2 display, and new AI-powered tools, including photo editing, improved Circle to Search, and personalized daily summaries powered by Google Gemini. While these innovations are impressive, Allstate Protection Plans wanted to see if the advanced
design and technology could help protect the flagship phone from the unexpected.
Breakability Meets Intelligence
In its signature Breakability Drop Test, Allstate Protection Plans dropped the Galaxy S25 Ultra on its front, side and back from six feet onto concrete. Here were the results:
Front-Down Drop: The screen malfunctioned, rendering the device unusable. The front display went black except for two horizontal rows of white pixels across the top. The screen shattered, including raised glass across much of its surface, and a large ink blot was visible across the bottom of the display. The device also stopped producing audio. Though the S25 Ultra was not usable, its buttons were still functional, and haptics could be felt by pressing the Gemini Live button. Therefore, it’s possible the device could be saved with repair.
Back-Down Drop: The rear panel shattered, including raised glass across the right side where the device impacted the ground. The rear panel also bent outward along the same area. Two of the larger camera housings suffered minor scuffing. The device was fully functional, including all cameras. However, the raised glass across the back display meant that a case would be required for safe handling.
Side-Down
Drop: The titanium frame had only minor damage. Where the frame impacted the ground, it suffered small dents and chips but was otherwise intact. The phone was fully functional, including the volume and Gemini Live buttons, which were on the impact-side of the drop.
The tests also assessed whether Galaxy S25 Ultra’s AI features were still functional after sustaining damage from a drop. ProVisual Engine,
Curious whether the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s AI could protect itself from further damage, Allstate Protection Plans asked Google Gemini: “What’s the best way to protect a Galaxy S25 Ultra against damage from accidental drops?” The phone’s own AI suggested practical strategies, such as using a durable case, adding a screen protector and phone grip, and developing better handling habits. It also recommended considering phone insurance—wise advice, given the phone’s $1,299 price tag. For more information on protection plans that offer peace of mind, visit AllstateProtectionPlans.com.
Gemini Live and Circle to Search were not affected after back-down and side-down drops. However, no AI capabilities were usable on the device that was dropped frontdown.
Can AI Save the Day?
“Ultimately, no phone is indestructible,” says Jason Siciliano, vice president of marketing and global creative director at Allstate Protection Plans. “Our tests show that even the smartest technology can benefit from some extra protection.” (StatePoint)

Titled Our Journey Together, the book features photos from the historic Howdy Modi and Namaste Trump events. On the cover, Trump wrote, “Mr Prime Minister, You are great!” along with his signature.
Modi flatters Trump: The PM compared India’s “Viksit Bharat” vision with “Make America Great Again” slogan, and coined “Make India Great Again” (MIGA). He posted later, “President Trump often talks about MAGA.
In India, we are working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in American context translates into MIGA. And together, the India-USA have a MEGA partnership for prosperity!” He also thanked “my friend” Trump.
Immigration: Modi left without any apparent pledge to preserve legal immigration to the US, the H-1B visa which Indians are the top users of. Modi has reiterated his openness to India taking back verified illegals as a sop but it has not yet moved the Trump administration.
Fighter jets: Trump offered India Lockheed Martin Corp. F-35 fighter. It remains to be seen how it will move forward. Currently, Russia is the main supplier to India and there are concerns that the tech could fall in the enemy nation’s hands. India too is balking at the price tag as well as the maintenance of the aircraft.
Trump announces extradition: 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana will be sent to India said Trump, stating that he “will face justice.”
Education: There was agreement that in setting up campuses of premier American colleges in India.

Tips To Support Your Digestive Health
Ever have that feeling of sluggishness that you can’t seem to shake? Did you know that it could be because your digestive system isn’t working optimally? For better digestive wellness, consider the following tips:
Hone Your Diet: Eat a diverse diet and limit processed foods and added sugars. A well-rounded diet that prioritizes whole foods is typically high in fiber and other nutrients that promote a healthy gut. Some great choices include beans, seeds, fruits, broccoli, kimchi and avocados.
Stay Hydrated: As you increase your fiber intake, be sure to drink plenty of water to support regularity and keep everything moving through your system. Your digestive system will thank you!
Get Moving: Daily activity is a natural digestive aid. Exercise boosts circulation to deliver blood and oxygen to your digestive tract,
helps you maintain a healthy metabolism, and keeps your digestive muscles strong. For greater digestive wellness, be sure to incorporate some movement into your routine.
Manage Stress: The mind-body connection is powerful, and poor digestive health is just one of the many potential side effects of
too much stress. Common stress management techniques include meditation, self-care, exercise and reaching out to loved ones.
Get Quality Sleep: High-quality sleep is needed to keep all the systems of your body in tip-top shape, and your digestive system is no exception. The Mayo Clinic recommends that adults get more than 7
hours of sleep per night.
Get a Massage: According to research, abdominal massage is a safe, easy remedy for occasional constipation that most people can do themselves.
Take Fiber Supplements: Less than 10% of Americans get enough fiber from diet alone, making a fiber supplement an excellent way to boost your intake. One great option to consider, which is associated with a number of wellness benefits, is Metamucil 4-in-1 Lemonade Flavored Psyllium Fiber Supplement Powder.
Stay Consistent: New habits can be hard to adopt. To kickstart your commitment to digestive health and to stay motivated, try taking on the Metamucil Two Week
Challenge. After you sign up on the brand’s website, you’ll receive an email every day for two weeks with tips, tricks, and reminders for taking your fiber supplement and for staying on track. Many of those who have taken the challenge felt noticeable results. In fact, in a survey of adults who completed the two-week challenge, a majority self-reported that they felt lighter.
“Psyllium fiber supplements have the potential to make a meaningful change in your digestive health when taken daily,” says Evan Smith, NA Metamucil brand director. “That’s why we’re excited to help people see just how amazing a healthy gut feels.”

5 Essential Items To Pack For A Stress-Free Vacation
Vacations are meant to be relaxing, but nothing kills the mood faster than forgetting something important or being unprepared. Whether you’re heading to a tropical beach or a busy city, having the right items on hand can make all the difference. Here are five essential items to pack for a stress-free vacation:
Power Bank/Portable Charger
We rely heavily on our devices while traveling, whether for navigation, communication, or capturing precious moments. Running out of battery while exploring can be stressful. A portable charger ensures you’re always powered up, whether at the airport, on a hiking trail, or sightseeing all day.
Travel-Size Toiletries Kit
Nothing is more frustrating than arriving at your hotel only to realize you forgot essential toiletries like shampoo, toothpaste, or deodorant. Packing a compact toiletries kit saves you the trouble and cost of buying overpriced hotel products. It keeps everything organized and ensures you have the basics covered without the risk of spills in
your luggage.
A Versatile Scarf or Shawl
A scarf or shawl can be a vacation lifesaver. Whether protecting yourself from the sun, covering your shoulders when visiting religious sites, or using it as a lightweight blanket on a chilly evening flight, this versatile item takes up little space in your bag but proves useful in many situations.
A Small First-Aid Kit
Being prepared for minor injuries or health issues is crucial when traveling. A small first-aid kit can
be a lifesaver in case of a headache, scraped knee, or upset stomach. Pack essentials like band-aids, pain relievers, anti-allergy tablets, and any personal medication you may need.
Reusable Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is key to feeling your best while traveling. A reusable water bottle is a sustainable way to ensure you always have water with you, especially on long flights, tours, or hikes. Many airports and tourist spots offer refill stations, so you’ll never be caught thirsty without a solution. (ANI) (Courtesy: https://indiawest.com/)

How To Protect Your Pet’s Dental Health
Like humans, pets’ oral hygiene plays an important role in their overall health and quality of life. Common conditions like plaque buildup, tartar and bad breath can escalate to serious health conditions if untreated. In fact, by the age of 3, 80% of pets experience some form of dental health issue, and the risk only increases as they age. However, for many pet owners, taking care of their four-legged friends’ oral health is a more difficult habit to maintain than their own daily brushing and flossing routine.
Many veterinarians recommend regular brushing for pets, and a wide array of treats and meal additives complement brushing to help support your pet’s oral health. Protecting your pet’s oral health begins by talking with your veterinarian, who can provide recommendations tailored to your pet’s specific needs. With that guidance, you can start comparison shopping and reading labels so you can identify quality products. Remember you’re likely to find the greatest success by introducing oral health products as part of your pet’s daily routine early on.
Certifications for Trust and Quality
Products that meet high standards are eligible for certifications that assure consumers about their quality and efficacy. For example, the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) is an independent organization that evaluates pet dental products. Their Seal of Acceptance is awarded to products that meet strict standards for controlling plaque and tartar. You can find the seal on packaging as an easy visual indication of the product’s quality standards.
Natural, Effective Ingredients
Look for products that prioritize safety and health by offering natural, clinically proven ingredients and no artificial additives or chemicals. Seaweed (or kelp) is a preferred ingredient because it contains minerals and enzymes that help reduce plaque and prevent bacteria. You can find 100% natural and organic kelp in products like ProDen PlaqueOff®, which includes A.N ProDen®, a kelp ingredient sustainably harvested from specially selected locations in the pristine North Atlantic waters off the Scandinavian coastline. Processed through a specialized
method in extreme environmental conditions, it attains peak quality and effectiveness, ensuring safety and health for your pet.
Sustainable Practices
Another detail you can gather from the product’s packaging is whether a product manufacturer adheres to environmentally friendly practices and safe ingredient sourcing, which means the product is not only good for pets but also for the planet. This may be evident in certifications or special icons on the packaging, through information about sustainably harvested ingredients or with packaging that itself
is environmentally responsible.
Tailoring to Individual Pets
Different pets have different needs based on age, size, breed and oral health status. Selecting the right product may also be complicated by your pet’s allergies or picky eating habits. You can find a variety of ingestible options, including powders, chews or bones like those offered by ProDen PlaqueOff®, to use in conjunction with daily brushing.
• Powder: Ideal for a seamless addition to your pet’s diet, this is the most economical choice, particu-
larly for long-term use. It’s especially suitable for younger pets as a preventive measure, given its longevity and cost-effectiveness.
• Chews: For those looking for an easy-to-administer option that doubles as a reward, chews are the way to go. Additionally, for older pets or those with missing teeth, soft chews can offer a gentle yet effective way to maintain oral health. They’re a convenient choice for pet owners to give as a daily dose without the need for measuring or mixing.
• Bones: Designed not only to satisfy your dog’s natural chewing instincts but also to aid in dental care, bones are a perfect option for pet parents whose dogs prefer a longer-lasting treat. Bones come in a variety of flavors and sizes, catering to both large and small breeds, making them a versatile way to help keep your dog’s teeth clean and their breath fresh.

A How-To Guide For Deep Cleaning Your Grill
A clean grill can enhance the flavor of your food, making regular grill maintenance an essential part of your outdoor cooking routine.
Grills, especially those exposed to the elements, can accumulate dirt, rust and food residue that can affect performance and safety.
Plus, residual char and grease can impart unwanted flavors and even lead to flare-ups.
Once you’ve gathered the right tools – a sturdy grill brush with stainless steel bristles, a scraper, a bucket of soapy water, microfiber cloths and grill cleaner or degreaser – consult this step-by-step guide to keep your grill in pristine condition, ensuring delicious meals every time.
1.Preheat the grill for 15 minutes to loosen any stuck-on residue then turn it off and let it cool slightly.
2. Ensure the gas supply is turned off before cleaning.
3. Remove the grates and scrub them thoroughly with a grill brush and warm, soapy water. Rinse and let dry.
4. Clean burners by wiping them with a damp cloth.
5. Scrape the inside of the grill to remove any debris and use a vac-
uum to collect loose dirt and ash.
6. Wipe down the exterior of the grill with a microfiber cloth and grill cleaner.
7. Reassemble the grill once all parts are dry and give it a final wipe down.
In between deep cleanings, remember to clean your grill grates immediately after cooking while they are still warm to remove food particles and grease.

How To Pick The Right Plants For Your Location
When planning your yard or garden, you likely focus on the what and the where. After all, a beautiful plant in a prime location enhances curb appeal and even bragging rights.
You may pay less attention though to understanding how your location, or plant hardiness zone, impacts your garden’s success. To help ensure your plants don’t just survive, but thrive, the experts at lawn care equipment manufacturer Exmark are sharing the following insights about plant hardiness:
What is Plant Hardiness?
Plant hardiness is the secret sauce of any healthy outdoor space. Plant hardiness is the ability of a plant to survive adverse growing conditions such as drought, flooding, heat and cold.
Have you ever watched with frustration as a late-season temperature dip leaves your beautiful buds with a serious case of frostbite? Plant hardiness zones were developed to help landscapers, gardeners and lawn care enthusiasts avoid this
American farming contributes billions of dollars to the gross national product annually, which is one reason why the USDA has long monitored weather data.
If determining when the average final frost may occur for every region in the country is worth billions, what could that same knowledge mean for your garden?
fore planting.
Perennials Versus Annuals
There’s a reason you see palm trees in Sarasota, Florida, not Saginaw, Michigan. When it comes to perennials, it’s not about when the first frost is, but how cold it gets, and whether that plant can survive and thrive through winter.
When in doubt, guess too low, rather than too high. In the South, the heat stress a plant not made for the conditions. Your particular geography can also affect your hardiness zone, like if you live on a hill or in a valley.
For more insights, check out the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map, and watch “Find Your Plant Hardiness Zone,” an episode of “Backyard Smart,” an original series from lawn care equipment manufacturer, Exmark.
What is My Growing Zone?
Well, choosing plants with hardiness levels appropriate to specific planting zones gives you the best
chance of cultivating healthy, beautiful plants.
The United States is divided into 13 zones. Zones 1-6 being the coldest, and 7-13 the warmest. Zone 1 averages -60 degrees F while zone 13 never drops below 70 degrees F.
A general guideline is to plant anything designated for your zone or lower, but never higher. Know what zone you live in and make a point of checking the tag on the back of the plant or seed pack beheartache.
Plant hardiness zones are less important however when it comes to annuals. Because these plants are only meant to last one growing season; waiting until after the average first frost date will save you from having to re-plant.
Know that even if your plant survives the frost, it may never match the photo you saw advertised at the nursery.
Planting Zone Rule of Thumb
Plant hardiness zone maps are, well, all over the map. Consider the number assigned to your zip code as a starting point. You may live right at the break between one zone and the other.
To watch the video, visit Backyard Life, which is part of a unique multimedia destination with a focus on helping homeowners improve their outdoor living spaces.
There you can also download additional tips and view other Exmark Original Series videos.
Understanding what plants will thrive in your climate is essential to a healthy landscape. Fortunately, free resources abound to help you plant successfully.

Take The Life-Saving Step Of Testing For Radon
Radon—an odorless, tasteless and colorless gas found in homes and buildings at high levels throughout the United States—is the second leading cause of lung cancer, responsible for about 21,000 deaths each year, and the leading cause of lung cancer among people who don’t smoke.
The American Lung Association is partnering with Protect Environmental to educate and empower communities nationwide to take action to prevent lung cancer. As part of the campaign, they are answering some frequently asked questions about radon:
What is radon? Radon is a natural-
ly occurring radioactive gas emitted from the ground. Uranium in soil and rocks breaks down to form radium. As radium decays, radioactive particles (radon gas) are released into the air.
Why is radon found in buildings? Radon gas enters buildings through cracks in walls, basements, floors, foundations, and potentially, through water used in showers and faucets, trapping it inside.
Why is radon harmful? Radon gas particles can be inhaled in your lungs, attacking cells with dangerous, cancer-causing radiation. Radon exposure has no immediate symptoms; however, the long-term
threat of health problems, including lung cancer, is serious.
How is radon detected? The only way to know the radon level in your home and workplace is to conduct a radon test. Dangerous radon levels have been found in every state, so every building should be regularly tested.
Testing is the first step in reducing risk of radon-induced lung cancer and is recommended every two to five years, even if you have a mitigation system.
The Lung Association and Protect Environmental are offering free radon test kits to homeown-
ers in select communities across the United States. Visit Lung.org/ protect-environmental to learn
Venkat Venkatasubramanian Elected To National Academy Of Engineering
NEW YORK, NY – Venkat Venkatasubramanian, the Samuel RubenPeter G. Viele Professor of Engineering at Columbia University, has been elected to the U.S.
National Academy of Engineering (NAE), one of the highest honors in the field. Recognized for his groundbreaking work in artificial intelligence applications in process safety and pharmaceutical manufacturing, Venkatasubramanian joins a distinguished cohort of 128 new members and 22 international members announced on February 11.

more and check your eligibility for receiving a test kit.
What should I do if I detect high radon levels? Radon gas is measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L) of air. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action to reduce radon if levels are 4.0 pCi/L or greater, and to consider similar actions when the radon level is between 2.0 and 4.0 pCi/L.
If you discover high radon levels in your home, a radon mitigation system should be installed to reduce the amount of radon to a safer level. Just be sure you work with a professional who is certified in radon mitigation. Using unqualified professionals may lead to faulty installation, which can cause property damage and even increase indoor radon levels.
The American Lung Association’s campaign to raise awareness on the importance of radon testing is supported by Protect Environmental. For more information, visit Lung. org/protect-environmental.
“I’ve been to too many homes where no one knew to test for radon until someone in the home got the devastating diagnosis of lung cancer,” says Kyle Hoylman, chief executive officer of Protect Environmental.
“Taking action to reduce radon through mitigation and regular testing is an investment in the lung health of everyone in the building and could be a lifesaving improvement.” (StatePoint)

India-China Agree On Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Resuming This Year
NEW DELHI (ANI)- Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s visit to China from January 26 to 27 marked a significant step forward in India-China relations, with several key developments underscoring the two countries’ commitment to strengthening ties.
One of the major highlights was the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which is set to take place this summer.
The Yatra, a sacred pilgrimage to Mount Kailash in Tibet, had been paused in recent years, and its revival is expected to strengthen cul-
an tural and spiritual ties between the two nations.
India Warns China As It Plans World’s Largest Dam On Brahmaputra
NEW DELHI, (ANI) – India has strongly urged China to ensure that its upstream activities on the Brahmaputra River do not adversely impact downstream states, following reports of a mega dam project under construction in the Tibet region.
The river, known as the Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet, is vital to the livelihoods of millions in India and Bangladesh.
The Brahmaputra River sustains millions across Assam and the northeastern region, making China’s upstream projects a critical geopolitical and ecological concern.
The MEA’s remarks were echoed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who expressed alarm over the dam’s construction. Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Sarma confirmed that Assam has conveyed its concerns to New Delhi.
“The Brahmaputra is our lifeline, and the central government must
ensure that our interests are protected,” he asserted.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal addressed the issue during a press briefing in New Delhi, emphasizing India’s concerns. “The Chinese side has been urged to ensure that the interests of downstream states of the Brahmaputra are not harmed by activities in upstream areas,” he stated.
The concerns follow information from Chinese state media on December 25, 2024, about a hydropower project on the Yarlung Tsangpo.
The announcement has reignited fears among Indian officials, experts, and citizens about the potential impact of such projects on
early meeting of the India-China Expert Level Mechanism, which will focus on cooperation concerning trans-border rivers.
This collaboration is crucial for managing shared water resources and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
Direct air connectivity between the two nations will also be resumed, facilitating easier travel for peopleto-people exchanges and promoting greater business and tourism ties.
As both countries approach the 75th anniversary of the establish-
ment of diplomatic relations in 2025, the two sides emphasized the importance of using this occasion to bolster public diplomacy efforts.
Misri’s visit also saw an agreement to conduct a series of commemorative activities aimed at enhancing mutual awareness, trust, and confidence.
Moreover, both nations agreed to promote and facilitate people-topeople exchanges, including media and think-tank interactions, as part of broader efforts to build stronger bilateral relations. (Courtesy: https://indiawest.com/)

NEW DELHI – Google is close to finalizing locations for its firstever physical retail stores outside the U.S., with India emerging as the chosen market, according to Reuters. The tech giant, which has committed $10 billion in investments in the country, currently operates only five physical stores, all in the United States, where it sells Pixel phones, watches, and earbuds.
The move is seen as an effort to replicate Apple’s successful retail strategy, which has helped the iPhone maker generate billions globally.
While the IT hub of Bengaluru was
considered, New Delhi and Mumbai are the leading contenders for Google’s initial stores, a source told Reuters.
Google already sells its products in India through authorized retailers, much like Apple did before launching its own outlets.
In 2023, Apple CEO Tim Cook inaugurated the company’s first stores in Mumbai and New Delhi. Google’s expansion into physical retail comes as it faces regulatory and legal scrutiny in India, including antitrust cases related to its inapp billing system and dominance in the smart TV sector, Reuters reported. Best Foods To Boost Hemoglobin Levels
Hemoglobin is an iron-rich protein found in red blood cells that transports oxygen throughout the body.
When hemoglobin levels decline, it can lead to fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, headaches, and other symptoms.
A significant drop may indicate anemia. Your diet plays a crucial role in maintaining hemoglobin levels. Here are some foods that can help boost hemoglobin:
Green Leafy Vegetables
Spinach, mustard greens, celery,
and broccoli are excellent vegetarian sources of iron. These vegetables help increase hemoglobin levels while providing dietary fiber and essential nutrients.
Beetroot
Beetroot is rich in minerals like iron, copper, phosphorus, and magnesium, along with vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, and C. These nutrients con- tribute to hemoglobin production and support the regeneration of red blood cells.

Tibet Museum Launches Travelling Exhibition Across US To Raise Awareness
NEW YORK (ANI): The Tibet Museum, under the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration, has launched a travelling exhibition across the United States from February 3 to 24 to raise awareness about Tibet’s situation and foster collaborations with local universities and museums.
According to the Office of Tibet, the initiative is supported by four Tibetan Community Associations in the US and includes stops in New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Chicago. The exhibition, overseen by Additional Secretary Namgyal Tsewang and Tibet Museum Director Tenzin Topdhen, presents Tibet’s history, ongoing challenges, and environmental concerns.
Tsewang emphasized that the exhibition is more than a historical showcase—it is an educational effort to highlight Tibetans’ struggles under Chinese rule. The first event took place on February 3 at Tibet House in New York. From February 4 to 6, it will be displayed at Tibetan Community Association venues in New York and New Jer-
sey, followed by Minnesota from February 8 to 13, Wisconsin from February 15 to 20, and Chicago from February 21 to 23.
Featuring over 100 artifacts, including historical photographs, Tibetan currency, and stamps, the exhibition highlights Tibet’s rich cultural heritage. Some venues will also screen documentary films to provide a deeper understanding of Tibet’s history, the Dalai Lama’s commitments, and the region’s environmental crises.
This initiative reflects the Tibet Museum’s dedication to preserving Tibetan culture and advocating for Tibet’s rights internationally. By collaborating with Tibetan Community Associations, including the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey, the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota, the Wisconsin Tibetan Association, and the Tibetan Alliance of Chicago, the exhibition aims to strengthen global awareness and support for the Tibetan cause.

The Connection Between Yoga And Meditation
(Continued From Page 01)
How hard can it be?! Muscles that we may not use, to be able to sit up straight may take time to develop. Maybe we even sit at our desks all day long.
We know how to sit! People tend towards hunching and bending their backs over their computers. A great spiritual master and warrior, Paramhansa Yogananda said that a bent spine is the enemy to self-realization.
Yoga is a great way to prepare the body for meditation. Yoga is not only rejuvenating for the body but also the brain. Though, is that what most yoga classes are offering?
From my experience, a lot of classes are designed to give people a work-out and some even a work-in, but never really mention the word meditation; nor do they spend much time in deep relaxation.
One time, I attended a yoga class, in Palo Alto, at a very popular yoga studio. We practiced rigorous yoga for 90 minutes straight.
Then, we were given instructions to do the peacock pose; which is on our forearms, upside down, with our feet straight up touching the wall.
For the last 15 minutes, we continued to do deep asana. After all of that, I was ready for
a lengthy savasana.
We were only given a couple of minutes before the instructor guided us out to sit up, bring our hands together and end the class with an “aum.”
In the teachings that I share, hatha yoga for higher awareness, I teach yoga to prepare for meditation.
All of the asanas are designed in a routine to help the energy in our spine to be magnetically drawn upward, through pranayama, asana and mudras, to the brain, to awaken and lift our consciousness.
Yogananda also said that getting in and out of a pose is just as important as being in the pose. We can engage in yoga practice to experience meditation in action because movement can be practiced as a meditation.
5 Brain Exercises To Improve Your Memory
Brain workouts can enhance and preserve brain function. Activities like acquiring new skills, solving puzzles, and even playing video games can boost memory and improve brain connectivity.
These exercises may also protect the brain from age-related decline. Here are some activities that can help sharpen your memory.
Meditation
Meditation promotes calmness, balance, and emotional well-being, with positive effects on both brain function and overall health. It may even affect the brain’s structure and how it functions, benefiting memory.
Jigsaw Puzzles
Jigsaw puzzles require diverse cognitive abilities and help protect visuospatial cognitive aging. By determining where each piece fits, you engage your brain in critical thinking and problem-solving, making it an excellent exercise.
Solving Crossword Puzzles
For example: when inhaling, we raise our arms. While exhaling we lower our arms to our sides. We can do this, in a graceful manner or we can do it quickly without the breath.
We can flop down on a couch, or we can do it with control, ease and grace. When we begin to slow our breath and begin to sync it with our movement, we become calm.
Then, we become closer to single-minded purpose. By slowing down, we begin to accomplish more and bring our attention to the present moment.
It helps us to strengthen our physical body, as well as our spiritual self to prepare for meditation.
Meditation and yoga are interrelated. They are both part of the Eight Limbs of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.
They go hand and hand. They work together to untie our individual selves with our higher soul-self.
One cannot be present without the other. As in yoga, we have asana. We need to be in the body to forget about it, in order to be in true meditation.
particularly in individuals with mild cognitive impairment.
Crossword puzzles, especially computerized ones, can enhance cognitive performance, individuals.
Research suggests that crossword puzzles might offer more brain benefits than computer games.
Sudoku
Sudoku puzzles, involving numbers, provide an enjoyable way to exercise the brain and may improve cognitive performance in some
Chess can help older adults prevent cognitive decline by challenging the brain with strategic thinking and decision-making.
However, it may not be as effective for individuals already dealing with dementia or similar cognitive conditions. (ANI) (Courtesy: https://indiawest.com/)
In meditation we have dhyana, the ultimate stage of yoga-sustained concentration. In our physical practice of yoga, we learn how to control our energy by sending it out.
By holding a pose, we bring it inward and upward, while focusing our attention on our breath.
Though truthfully, we are doing more than one thing at a time, which is not quite the definition of concentration. For in true concentration, we are only focusing on one thing at a time.
Where the breath flows the mind and energy goes. In yoga and in meditation, we are raising our consciousness, if we do so, mindfully.
With yoga, we are bringing the body to a point of stillness by helping to clear away the restless energy that we carry around- in preparation to become fully immersed in deep concentration, meditation.
Yoga, like chanting, can help us to open our hearts and allow the energy to flow, as it is the doorway to higher chakras and higher consciousness. (Courtesy: https://www. ayurvedaawareness.com/)
