WORK (Cont.)
5 Things to Love about Working in Downtown Avalon Park Finding work within the comfort of your neighborhood is a special thing. Not only do you learn to connect more with your community, but a deeper appreciation for your neighborhood may be fostered through your work, which makes it even more fulfilling. While there are a plethora of things to love about working in Downtown Avalon Park, these five may just take the cake. 1. Proximity to Home The town of Avalon Park is what is considered to be a “traditional neighborhood development,” or a community that is centered around its citizens. What this means for the community—and for people who work within it—is that it is an extremely navigable and walkable area. With that said, working in Downtown Avalon Park means that you can get to and from your job by walking or riding a bike: no car necessary, no long commute. 2. Easy Access to Food and Other Necessities Working in Downtown Avalon means making the most out of your lunch time. You can leave
your office, grab a meal, visit the pharmacy, or even stop home to see your family while still getting back to work on time, all because you are in the center of town! 3. The Views No longer are the days of highrise office buildings overlooking parking lots. When you work in Downtown Avalon, you can catch a glimpse of just about everything—a park, a lake, a pool, a school—right from your office window! Rather than promoting a disconnect between you and your surroundings, having a view of the place you live fosters a connection and appreciation you would not be able to create
otherwise. 4. Working in a Town In a similar vein, the awareness that you are working in your own town—rather than in an office park—can prove to positively affect your mental health. It is easier to become inspired in your neighborhood than in an office building across the city, and connecting with others who also work and live in your town builds a sense of community, which can benefit both personal and work lives. 5. Peace of Mind Connecting to the previously mentioned benefits of working in Downtown Avalon Park is the peace of mind that comes
with it. Whether you have kids, pets, a significant other, or even if you live alone, you can work without worry because you know that your home and loved ones are never farther than a few minutes away. And because you know your town and its people well—you see it all every day from your office window!—you can work more and worry less. Avalon Eatery Coming Soon to Avalon Park Many of you have contacted us asking our timeline...we feel like it’s been a month of Sundays, but we’re getting there! Here is a breakdown of what has happened and what’s to come... We are waiting on our licensing from Tallahassee along with our final beer & wine. Once that happens, we’ll move very fast. We hope to open our doors within the next 3 to 5 weeks... fingers crossed that we are closer to three than five! This is the hurry up and wait part... Painting and prep are now complete. All appliances in the back of the house are in place. The old diner signage has been removed and our Avalon Eatery signs are being fabricated. We’re actively working on decor and having a blast with it...a fun and eclectic theme that will complement our award winning very diverse urban fusion menu. We are a green restaurant and repurposing as much as we can. We spent the last two weeks finding unique chairs and have now completed our collection. We are going to paint them
black so even though they are different they will all be ‘the same’. All our tabletops are being made with repurposed wood. Our 7’ custom round table was delivered over the weekend and includes a 36” Lazy Susan to add even more personality to the round front room which will be a semiprivate dining space for groups up to 14. Our walls are being decorated with moss and mirrors and lots of fun repurposed accents. Lighting and sound systems are being installed this week. Soon, we will actively start our hiring process. We have so many positions available and we’re looking forward to meeting many of you then. Some fun background. We are a family-owned business (husband and wife) and will always be onsite to greet and service you. When you walk through our doors, you’re our family. Angie is known to be ‘everyone’s Nonna’. Claudio was born in Buenos Aries Argentina and came to
the states in the 60’s as a young boy. Angie is second generation here. Angie’s ‘Nonna’ came to the states in 1902 from Calabria Italy. They are a fun, creative, and sassy family that so much enjoy what they do. We are sharing some behind the scenes photos...If you pass the restaurant and we are there working...pop in and say hello.
