Calista Ho Hello Key Clubbers! It felt like just yesterday I was interviewing for an officer position, but now, I am beyond excited to serve as your 2015-2016 President! Ever since freshman year, Key Club has made such a huge impact in my life, and I hope it will for you too. I cannot wait to see each one of you grow and become more involved in such a great club! :) No, we don’t make keys for a living, but we do make new friends (whom we end up calling our family) along this journey. We are looking forward to a term where we can set the bar even higher than last year, and of course we cannot do it without you guys! Time for a new year; let’s do this! 3

ELIMINATE WEEK
Key Club partners with UNICEF to fight MNT—Maternal/ Neonatal Tetanus—a preventable disease that causes excruciating deaths to newborns and mothers. With every $1.80 donation, a mother and her children are immunized! For a week in May, Key Clubbers raised awareness & funds for this charity by wearing blue and posting on social media. *Facebook post by Tien Vu

Let It Be 5K I never regret attending a service event, regardless of the wake-up time. When my alarm rang at 5:30 AM, I groggily put on my Division 15 Key Club shirt and got in the car to drive to Chino Hills High School. By the time I got there, I felt more energized as I saw numerous volunteers already there, setting up booths and decorations. The Key Clubbers serving at this enormous event helped hang posters, set up tables for snacks and water, cheer the runners on, and pass out medals. It was also great meeting Key Clubbers from Chino Hills High School at the Let It Be 5K! I look forward to volunteering at this event again next year! //Claire Park

ACOUSTIC SHOW PREP Preparing for the acoustic show was especially fun doing it with fellow officers! Painting posters, running sound check, practicing our number, & setting up was great! All our hard work was paid off when we knew how much we raised for the American Cancer Society. Thank you to everyone who came and supported our club; we all really appreciate it. // Kelsey Atienza 8
Acoustic Benefit Concert One of the largest events that Ayala Key Club hosts each year is the Acoustic Benefit Concert, with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. This year, 2015, was Ayala’s fourth year hosting the show. With much preparation and cooperation from the entire school, we were able to raise more than $2,500 for the American Cancer Society! Our preparation for the show started two months prior to the actual date, May 19. We started off with an interest list at the general meeting and had over 30 different groups/musicians sign up. The one requirement for performing was that the song had to be performed acoustically. A few weeks later, we held our live auditions after school, and additionally accepted video auditions for members who could not join our live audition. As the performers rehearsed their songs to perfection, the officers were busy contacting various restaurants for food/raffle donations, planning the decorations, selling tickets, advertising, and even practicing our own surprise officer collaboration! Everyone was buzzing around like a busy CNH bee within the days leading up to the show during the dress rehearsal and extra planning meetings. It was incredible for all of our hard work to be manifested on the night of the show! There were so many people in attendance that we had to set up more chairs! We also sold food and beverages such as pizza, boba, and ramen before the show and during intermission. The entire audience enjoyed the show as performers sang engaging songs and used instrument ranging from the guitar and piano to drums and violin! Every single performer was amazing and the Acoustic Benefit Concert would not have been possible without them! //Claire Park 9

RECYCLED REGATTA Not only did the final Key Club meeting of the year take place on Tuesday, May 26, but also did Team Key Club win the championships of the Physics Boat Race! Every physics student was required to create a boat made entirely of water bottles and string. Team Key Club, consisting of Key Clubbers Ben Kong, Delvin Lee, and Claire Park, and other members, David Kim and Kristen Jingco, worked together every day after school for 2 weeks in order to build the strongest and largest boat possible! On the day of the race, I really think that it was the epic division cheers and yellow spirit gear that led our group to victory! Or, it was the guys who worked tirelessly every single day to make this possible! *Shoutout to Ben Kong, Delvin Lee, & David Kim! 11

Summer vacation has finally arrived! However, unlike most of you, at the end of this well-deserved, seasonal break, I won't be returning this upcoming fall to the beautiful campus of Ayala and to the even more beautiful faces of the members of Ayala's Key Club. And although it pains me inside to leave behind a club I've dedicated four years of high school to, it also makes me incredibly proud to see how much the club has grown and how much I've grown along with it. Nothing could have made my graduation any more satisfying than having two beautiful, glistening stoles cascading down my gown for everyone to see and ponder upon with awe and fascination; as a reminder of all that I've worked for and all that I've done. For that, I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as president, and even more so, serving others within my school, community, and beyond! I am confident that the Key Club will continue to accomplish great things. And although I'm not able to stay in Ayala's Key Club forever, I know that all the memories and experiences I've encountered the last four years will forever follow me onto the next journey I embark! Alison Meas IP President The past four years of my life have been consumed by this wild adventure called high school. Some moments went by in a blur others vividly. For me, high school was centered on three things: academics, sports, extracurricular activities. But no matter how hectic, bizarre, or stressful my life became, I always had Key Club to keep me grounded. It may sound cliché but Key Club was my outlet, my rock, and my escape. My outlet to scream [chants] as loud as I wanted without being judged, my rock for having a set group of individuals I can always trust and vent to, and my escape for when everything else became too chaotic to handle. Key Club was just a drive away… a GroupMe message away. And to the girl that always responds to my messages, our IP President, Alison Meas. Thank you. In Key Club, we were the only senior officers; but outside of Key Club, you were one of my closest girl friends, my exotic Laotian flower, and my Mama Meas. Thank you to our past and current officer board for being such a stellar and responsible bunch. I can honestly say that Ayala is in such great hands this upcoming term (you guys are officer board goals) and will continue to encourage you in all your future endeavors. Thank you to our members for indefinitely supporting Key Club through your voluntary work and energy (s/o to my upcoming junior boys for always making my Tuesdays a little brighter…you know who you are). And of course, thank you to our co-advisors, Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Dinh, for always guiding, supervising, and keeping us in check. So thank you Key Club for all the invaluable friendships, experiences, and memories. You have become and will always be my ohana. And for one last time, I end this message of gratitude with… In the Spirit of Service, Sarah Jeon IP Vice President 17
HELLO AYALA KEY CLUB! I’m so excited for this new term to serve you all as the tech editor! My biggest wish for this coming year is to increase the sense of unity within our club via communication & social media. With almost 300 members in the club, I understand how easy it is to feel like “just another member” and to go along without really knowing what Key Club is all about. Hopefully, through these monthly newsletters, you will be able to see all of the fun volunteering that we do at service events. Let’s make 2015-2016 our most successful year yet & thank you so much for all of your hard work! I LOVE AYALA KEY CLUB SO MUCH! In the Spirit of Service, Claire Park 18
