Hey Key Clubbers! I hope your summer has been going well! You’re probably watching Netflix in your bed right now or thinking about the summer homework you should probably start on, which basically sums up the definition of summer. Besides that, we have got some exciting news! Relay for Life is coming up in less than 2 weeks, which means we are going to announce our theme for this year! Drum roll please! Our theme for this year’s Relay for Life is: Hawaiian. Woo-hoo! For those of you attending Relay for Life on August 1st2nd, Julie Choi and I will be messaging you guys soon about what to pack for that weekend, and what you should wear/bring! Keep an eye for that message soon! Great news—I know this summer we have not had that many events yet, but on August 20th, we will be having a Litel Elementary Parent Tour event. We need 15 volunteers next month to help with our local elementary school. If you are interested and plan to help, please RSVP on our Ayala Key Club website! Thank you guys so much for keeping up with us and we know you guys are all excited for this upcoming year! Don’t forget to add us on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and join our Remind 101 for all updates! All info is located on our website. For those of you attending Relay for Life, see you then! // Calista Ho 3

Most of you guys have heard of that phrase “NO RAGRATS” right? That is exactly how I felt about Region 13 Picnic! I couldn’t help but think that I was creating some of my favorite summer memories there! As it was my first region picnic, I was very curious about how everything would go. Thanks to all of the wonderful LTGs' preparation and diligence, all of the events planned went beyond my expectations! Not to mention, this event was even better since so many canned food items were donated! This picnic was full of opportunities to meet Key Clubbers from other divisions through all of the games and icebreakers! For example, in the beginning of the picnic, we all gathered around a large circle and played various icebreakers like “Do You Love Your Neighbor”. Then, we were divided into smaller groups to complete a scavenger hunt with hilarious challenges such as answering Key Club trivia from Nanxi, serenading D35W’s LTG, or taking a group selfie with everyone! My favorite game was “Jukebox” which was a singing game similar to the Riff Off in Pitch Perfect. There were also many clubs selling food, desserts, spirit attire, and drinks. Also, everyone had time to enjoy each other’s company when we ate pizza. I think that every Key Clubber should attend next year's picnic because everyone had such a great time bonding with each other through icebreakers, games, and activities. The very best part of the picnic was the spirit battle. It was exactly what it sounded like— a bunch of teens in their respective tutus yelling at the top of their lungs to prove that their division had the most spirit. Our division, D15, won, which made my sore throat and sunburns worthwhile! // Claire Park

OTC introduced me to a whole new world & the behindscenes work for Key Club. It gave me a chance to meet great people and show off our spirit & passion for helping ers. It motivated me to be more active and I learned abo what being a true leader is—serving others. I also learned to organize events, become a better member, and what each officer position entails. Overall, it was kind of like a m stone—definitely something very unique that I’ve never e rienced before. I’m glad it’s the backbone of key club th provides me with these rare opportunities. It was super fu highly recommend it to every member/officer and I look ward to the next conference!

Hey Ayala Key Club! I hope you are enjoying your summer break so far! It’s almost August so school will be starting very soon. Make sure to get all of your AP summer homework done ASAP so you can just kick back and relax before school begins again! As we will be having much more service events during the academic school year, we’ll also have more to write about! Please feel free to contact me if you want to write an article and have it featured in this newsletter! Also, if you have any ideas for the newsletter, I’m definitely open to those! I think the only reason I’m excited for school to start again is because of Key Club! In the Spirit of Service, Claire Park 10
