MEMBERS OF THE YEAR

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION & PASSION TO KEY CLUB + SERVICE FOR THE 2015-2016 TERM!

OTC 2016 & JUNE DCM Officer Training Conference was actually my very first Division event that I attended as a freshman. It's crazy to think that last year, I went to the Secretaries workshop and this year, I hosted that same workshop. OTC remains as one of my very favorite events to attend, as it is where my Key Club journey first began. I highly recommend any and all members who want to become a future Key Club officer to attend OTC next year! You learn so much from students like yourself, and it is a great learning experience for all - there is something for everyone! Workshops range from club officer positions, to helpful life tips such as stress management and public speaking. Plus, it is a joint event with Division 36 West so you get a chance to bond with other Key Club members! Moreover, this event was also combined with the monthly Division Council Meeting (DCM) where Ayala Key Club was ecstatic to hear that we received the CLUB OF THE MONTH AWARD! WOO! Overall, it was a joyous day for all. I know I left with more knowledge on how to best and most effectively serve our club.

TEACHER HELP-OUT

June 7th, 2016

It was a normal Monday night where I would check the Ayala Key Club website. My eyes bulged when I saw the Teacher Help Out for Mrs. Dinh's classroom as it's been a while since I encountered a new event. I smiled after I RSVP'ed the event and got ready for the next day to help out. Coming into Mrs. Dinh's classroom, I eagerly waited for the tasks she would give to the fellow volunteers and I. For a whole hour, I cleaned the classroom floor with my back hunched the entire time. The other volunteers were completing their own duties, working very hard. In the end, the pain was worth every moment because seeing the smile on Mrs. Dinh's face made our days and I would gladly do it again, for any teacher in need of help.

CARBON CANYON PARK CLEAN-UP

Carbon Canyon Clean-Up Chino and Chino Hills are riddled with hills, and nestled in those hills were one of our newest events. The Carbon Canyon Regional Park is a huge park dedicated to preserving wildlife. It sits in between these hills and in order to help maintain the park, Ruben S. Ayala’s Key Clubbers were called to action. Our Clean Up began at 9AM and we were instructed by Park Ranger Katie McKay to pick up a tool and do one of several tasks. We were asked to either mulch, weed, or pick up trash in their native butterfly exhibit and the surrounding area. The day wasn’t too hot or too cold, so with diligence we improved our park. Throughout the entire service, we greeted various joggers, families, and dogs who were keeping fit on the weekend. We weren’t just greeted by people, we saw a variety of animals and insects, all whom take residence in the park. At 11AM our time had ended in the park but a tremendous amount of work had been accomplished due to our amazing volunteers. This event may have been small on paper but the chance to help our parks and signature is something tremendous. We hope that we can continue to help our environment and better the Earth.
