Bu teknolojik gelişme ile ortaya çıkan yeni zorluklar ise Smart Connected Assembly’nin sağladığı faydalar sayesinde kolaylıkla çözülebiliyor. Endüstri 4.0 sayesinde gerçekleşen montaj süreçlerindeki bu değişim, dördüncü sanayi devrimi: üretim ve montajın dijitalleştirilmesi olarak anılıyor.

Quick technology development has changed the way we function, think or even act but it also has changed the way we work in assembly process. New challenges are emerging with this technological progress, and new benefits of Smart Connected Assembly are arising. This evolution of assembly process is driven by the Industry 4.0 – The fourth industrial revolution: the digitalization of manufacturing and assembly.

Endüstri 4.0’ın, endüstriyel üreticiler için daha önce benzeri görülmemiş performans iyileştirmelerinin önünü açabileceğine inanıyoruz. Atlas Copco, Alman bağlantı teknolojisi uzmanı Klingel’i satın aldı Atlas Copco acquired German joining technology expert Klingel

Atlas Copco, Klingel Joining Technologies’i satın aldı. Şirketin, otomotiv endüstrisinde kullanılan bir bağlantı yöntemi olan flow drill teknolojisinde uzmanlığı bulunuyor.

Atlas Copco has closed the acquisition of the assets of Klingel Joining Technologies. The company specializes in flow drill technology, a joining method used in the automotive industry.

Klingel Joining Technologies merkezi Almanya’da Münih yakınlarında yer almakta olup Klingel GmbH’nin üç işletme biriminden biri. İşletme, 2017’de yaklaşık olarak MEUR 8.5 (MSEK 82) gelir düzeyine sahipti ve satın alma ile 23 çalışan Atlas Copco bünyesine katıldı.

Atlas Copco, 6 Mart 2018’de Klingel Joining Technologies varlıklarını edinmeyi kabul ettiğini duyurdu.

Flow drill teknolojisi, alüminyum ve karma malzeme uygulamaları için kullanılan mekanik bir bağlantı yöntemidir.

Klingel Joining Technologies is based near Munich in Germany and is one of three business units of Klingel GmbH. The business had revenues of approximately MEUR 8.5 (MSEK 82) in 2017 and 23 employees are joining Atlas Copco.

Atlas Copco announced on March 6, 2018 that it had agreed to acquire the assets of Klingel Joining Technologies.

Flow drill technology is a mechanical joining method used for aluminum and mixed material applications. The acquired business becomes part of Atlas Copco’s Industrial Assembly Solutions division in the Industrial Technique business area.

You can encounter many issues at the time of a production process. It is difficult to visualize the impact that such issues will bring in the production environment beforehand.

Therefore, Atlas Copco has established a virtual reality experience for its customers.

By way of the virtual reality glasses that are available at the Excellence Center at Tuzla Headquarters of Atlas Copco, you are placed within a production line and simulation of the environment concerned is performed. The person wearing the virtual reality glass, finds himself as an operator within a production line and he encounters three basic issues at this stage: quality issues arising by reason of erroneous installation, issues that the unmaintained tools will encounter and faults on the side of operators. In the face of such issues, Atlas Copco, demonstrates what it provides by way of ResultScan, ToolCover and Operator trainings and emphasizes the significance of service once again. Using VR glass, you can test the issues that you can encounter at the time of the production processes in the virtual environment before being subject to in reality and you can take measures before it is too late.

Test işlemi hızlı ve etkindir çünkü gevşetme ihtiyacı bulunmamaktadır: hidrolik sistem torku her bir testin ardından otomatik olarak bırakmaktadır. STBench The joint simulation functionalities can replicate the real joint characteristics and guarantee tool testing in the real operating conditions without interfering with the production process.

The test is quick and effective as there is no need of loosening: the hydraulic system automatic releases the torque after each test. Thanks to the enhanced hydraulic technology, this operation is faster than ever saving both operators’ time and fatigue.

The new STbench joint simulating technology features an improved high-resolution encoder and advanced electrical contact system to have the best torque and angle testing accuracy and stability.

The state of the art transducer technology makes the STbench immediately recognize all the connected transducers: integrated, wired and wireless.

The LEDs on transducers and the intuitive touch screen interface guide the operator in the test. It is also possible to detect all the different steps of a multiple step tightening when an external transducer is connected.

Briefly, what are the latest developments in the Henrob product range?

In 2014 the Henrob range of T-rivets was launched and sales of these rapidly grew to over 20 million per month. To gain further sales, the range is currently being extended to include shorter rivet lengths.

Two new Henrob rivet ranges will be launched in Q1 2018. One is the “A” rivet, developed for joining thin joint stacks for closures, and the other is a new rivet design for joining high strength steel to cast aluminum. The latter is in response to the growing trend of incorporating cast aluminum shocktowers into high strength steel front end structures. Also, we are working with a company specializing in finite element (FE) simulation for rivet insertion to develop virtual testing on real parts.

How are we gearing up to handle future materials?

The next generation of car bodies will utilize higher strength steels and aluminum, such as hot formed parts that are quenched directly after press forming to achieve higher strength.

Most rivets are plated using mechanically compacted zinc and tin powder, this type of plating provides corrosion protection to aluminium assemblies and also acts as a lubricant to aid rivet insertion.

The acquisition of Henrob riveting technology and SCA adhesive application technology has given Atlas Copco a strong market position in hybrid joining. The use of adhesives in car bodies is expected to continue to increase.

Adhesives and rivets are ideal for joining mixed material structures where conventional methods like resistance spot welding cannot be used. It is logical for us to focus on offering a range of mechanical point joint methods that work well with adhesives to aid assembly processes and enhance structural performance.

How can we stay ahead of the competition?

We need to expand the product range to offer complementary joining solutions to enable us to make a wide range of different joints. Early engagement with the customer is highly beneficial; our aim should be to ensure that joining is considered during the design process and not afterwards. With increased focus on light weighting and new technologies such as 3D printed parts, the materials mix and joining requirements for car bodies is evolving. It is important to determine and develop the type of joining solutions our customers will want for their future car models.

We are collaborating with automotive steel and aluminum suppliers to conduct joining tests on new higher strength or improved crash performance grades. With this strategy we can prepare for requests from car companies to join these new grades.

In view of increasing demands on the quality, speed and flexibility of the adhesive application, the adhesive and dosing technology specialist SCA, Bretten, has launched a regulated applicator on the market. The AK 4600 was developed primarily for structural bonding in body shop and enables flexible fine tuning of the application. “We are thinking of the adhesive application particulary on the component contours, which entail various material requirements,” explains Miriam Lerner, product manager at SCA. Thus it would be the result of unwanted material emerge by unregulated application in places where less material is needed. Poland is one of the countries in Europe that has the largest number of bus producers. In total are 7 bus brands produced here and Swedish company Scania is one of them. Bus assembly is traditionally a low volume, manual and labor intense type of production. There is not a conveyer type of assembly like in car or truck plants. The buses are built in a sequence of work stations and moved from one station to the other by cranes or with manual trolleys.

In respect of assembly are most bus producers still far behind the car and truck producers when it comes to tightening technology. In today’s car and truck production in Poland, as in the rest of Europe, all critical joints are assembled with electrical controlled nutrunners which are connected to overall computerized networks. The tools are of high accuracy, they monitor the tightening process and validate the installed torque. In most cases the tightening result is automatically stored for analyze in a database linked to the vehicle or part identification number which gives full traceability in case of a potential recall situation. This

Scania kordonsuz kullanıma geçiyor Otobüs ve kamyon üretiminde olduğu gibi elektrikli somun sıkıcı kullanımına, nadiren Polonya otobüs fabrikalarında rastlanmaktadır – Slupsk’ta bulunan Scania, bu konuda bir istisnadır. Slupsk’taki Scania otobüsleri, kritik bağlantıların montajı için bazı elektrikli somun sıkıcı grupları içermekteydi. Also due to the size of a bus, very long air hoses must be used causing pressure drops that reduce the performance of the air tools.

Scania goes cordless To use electrical controlled nutrunners like in the car and truck production is seldom seen in Polish bus plants with the exception of Scania in Slupsk. Scania buses in Slupsk had already in 1999 a few sets of electric nutrunners for assembly of critical joints. Today they have more than 12 systems running and when Atlas Copco introduced the cordless communicating battery nutrunner Tensor STB, Scania immediately saw the advantages with the new technology. They became the first Polish bus producer to utilize the new technology.

“With Tensor STB we get full flexibility on applications inside the cabin without compromising on the quality of the operation.” says station manager Pawel Chuchla. By not compromising on

quality he refers to when using an electric controlled tool like the Tensor STB the process control is integrated in the system. The tightening data for every joint is stored in the controller and can be extracted and analyzed. Not only quality is improved but also time is saved by using the Tensor STB instead of air tools. The process of verifying the torque with click-wrenches after tightening with an air tool can be removed since an electric controlled nutrunner accurately measures both torque and angle during the rundown.

“Now using the new cordless tool I can cut the process time in half.” says Robert Tyrka, operator in Scania. He uses the new cordless tool for assembly of the wall-toroof and accessories inside the bus. It is in total more than 100 screws per coach bus and on the new double-decker model they also use the new tool for frame assembly on the second floor. “Before we needed two tools, one on each side of the bus. But since this tool is cordless and we do not have to consider handling the cable, now we only need one tool.” continues Robert Tyrka.

Noise reduction project Scania is not only working with quality improvements for their products, they also want to improve the quality for their workers. Scania is recognized in the industry for working continuously with developing good ergonomics in their production. Using a cordless nutrunner and not needing to manage cables or hoses is one ergonomical improvement, another initiative is the Noise

They have invited all departments to participate in the project, they analyzed all operations and processes. Some examples of noise reducing activities are do tasks in a different sequence, change air tools for electric tools, train the operators to avoid loud behaviors.

The first phase of the project will be finished in the beginning of the summer.

How to loose weight Initially, large European truck and bus manufacturers as Scania used electric tools because sound and vibration was minimized. Quality was monitored and precision and control was possible. However, in recent years, it’s also the ability to save weight by using smaller bolts and screws that’s drawn more attention.

“Using an electric nutrunner and advanced fastening technology, the weight of a truck or bus can be reduced by up to 200 kilos”, says Scania’s fastening technology expert Lars Oxelmark in an interview for a Swedish magazine (Ny Teknik, published 13 May 2009).

It is calculated that the weight of a truck or bus can be significantly reduced if it is fastened together using electric instead of pneumatic tools. An electric nutrunner is more precise and gives you better control over what actually happens to the screw and the entire joint as it is tightened. This reduces uncertainty: the designer and the operator are willing and able to utilize the whole strength of each screw, while the safety margin can be decreased. This means that smaller and lighter screws can be used.

Pazarlama İletişimi Müdürü olarak, Türkiye ve İran organizasyonun iletişim faaliyetinden sorumluyum. Videoyu bir mesajı iletmek için oldukça ilgi çekici bir yöntem olarak görüyorum. What is your job description at Atlas Copco? What are your goals? Can you tell us about your transformation / development plans?

As Marketing Communications Manager, I am responsible for all the communications efforts for the Turkey and Iran organization; all kind of events, the internal and external websites, social media accounts and any kind of publications; from press releases to brochures. I work closely with all departments but mainly, supporting marketing iniatives.

Customers and the relationship we built with them are the most valuable assests for us.

You are part of Atlas Copco since 2014. During this time, what aspects of Atlas Copco impressed you the most?

What do you think of Atlas Copco’s corporate culture, organization and team?

My job features ongoing action and requires an ability to operate in the hectic flow of daily business very quickly.

While a fast-paced work environment can feel overwhelming at first, with a little a little practice, it can transition into an exhilarating and exciting workplace. Atlas Copco has been growing and is continuing to grow both organically and through acquisitions.

It brings lots of advantages to employees; creating different career opportunities as well as learning new businesses.

What was the job you were most proud of doing?

What are your future targets?

I felt most proud of completing and publishing videos. So far, I prepared over ten videos in Atlas Copco and each one has been viewed thousands of times on social media and at other channels. I found video as a very attracting way to explain our messages. For future, I will definitely keep using videos but also try to use my every single sources to engage customers at every stage of the decision funnel from attracting, to engaging, to nurturing in a systematic way. The entire idea is about building and continuing conversation. It is vital to promote brand, create shareable content, and build relationships with customers! My future target, delivering the best-in-class customer experience for communications.

Dahili faaliyetlerin getirdiği toplam atıklar ile ilgili olarak yeniden kullanım, geri dönüşüm ve geri kazanım konusu atık yüzdesi, kaynak kullanımı ile ilgili Grup KPI’larından biri olarak değerlendirilmektedir. 2016’da, kg/total olarak bu atık oranı, %94 olup bu, 2015’deki ile aynı seviyedir. Yeniden kullanım, geri dönüşüm ve geri kazanım konusu atık miktarı zaten yüksek bir seviyede seyrediyorken, hem müşterilere hem çevrelere yarar sağlamak için payın arttırılması daha fazla ilgi görmelidir.

Faaliyetlerin getirdiği etkiler Atlas Copco, genel itibariyle, 2016 döneminde enerji tüketimi ile nakliye ile ilgili ayak izinde azaltmaya gitmiştir. Grubun satış maliyetlerinin dikkate alındığı faaliyetlerin getirdiği enerji tüketimi, esasen yıl içerisinde bazı faaliyetlerin sona erdirilmesine ve diğer yapısal sebeplere bağlı olarak %5 oranında azalma göstermiştir. Leybold ediniminin enerji tüketimine 14 500 MWh düzeyinde getirisi olmuştur; ancak Grup için toplam tüketimi seviyesi bir önceki yıla göre daha düşük bir seviyededir.

Faaliyetlerde kullanımda olan toplam MWh enerjisinden yenilenebilir enerji yüzdesi, 2016’da %39’a tekabül etmekteydi. 2006’dan itibaren, verilen enerji karmasının yenilenebilir ayağı, elde edilmiş olan tam yenilenebilir enerjiye ilave olarak kapsama alınmıştır; bunun anlamı, ilgili oran, önceki yıllara tam benzerlik göstermemektedir.

CO2 (ton)/nakliyeden doğan satış maliyetleri, Atlas Copco’nun genel CO2 ayak izi için önemli bir arttırıcı faktör olarak kabul edilmiştir ve buna bağlı olarak geliştirilmesi gereken bir öncelik durumudur. 2016’da, CO2 (ton), faaliyetler kapsamından olacak şekilde %15 (MSEK) oranında satış maliyetleri bakımından azalma göstermiştir. Bu gelişme, mallar için tesis edilen yeni nakliye yöntemleri, fiili sonuçlardan daha yüksek şekilde kendini göstermiş olan önceki yıl tahminleri ve bazı durumlarda, iş hacminde azalma gibi faktörlere bağlı bulunmaktadır.

Environmental risks in the supply chain The Group recognizes the risk and responsibility to manage water and other environmental risks in its value chain. Smelters and other resource-intensive activities are often tier 2 suppliers, or further down the value chain. The Group works with suppliers using its 10 criteria letter and action plans that are developed with business partners. Atlas Copco’s business partners must commit to conducting their business with environmental preservation in mind, including water use and waste water treatment.

Ideally, Atlas Copco’s suppliers should have an environmental management system or, as a minimum, be committed to developing an environmental policy or system, to ensure continuous improvement of their environmental performance. Commitment to Atlas Copco’s 10 criteria means that suppliers should take responsibility to minimize the environmental impact that products and services may have while being manufactured, distributed and used, as well as during their disposal.

The percentage of waste reused, recycled and recovered of the total waste in internal operations is measured as one of the Group’s KPIs for use of resources. In 2016, this share of the waste in kg/total was 94%, which is the same level as in 2015. While the amount of reused, recycled and recovered waste was already on a high level, increased focus should be put on increasing the share in order to benefit both customers and the environment.

Impacts from operations Atlas Copco has overall decreased its footprint from energy consumption and transportation during 2016. The Group’s energy consumption from operations in relation to cost of sales decreased with 5%, mainly due to the fact that some operations were closed during the year and for other structural reasons. The acquisition of Leybold contributed to the energy consumption with some 14 500 MWh, however total consumption for the Group was lower than previous year.

The percentage of renewable energy of total MWh energy used in operations was 39% in 2016. From 2016, also the renewable part of the energy mix provided is included in addition to fully renewable energy procured, which means that the proportion is not fully comparable with previous years.

CO2 (tonnes)/cost of sales from transport have been deemed a major contributor to Atlas Copco’s overall CO2 footprint, and is therefore a priority to improve. In 2016, the CO2 (tonnes) decreased in relation to cost of sales by 15% (MSEK) from operations. This development is due to factors such as new transport methods being deployed for freight, estimates from previous year proven higher than actual outcome and, in some cases, a reduction of business volume.

WATER CHANGES LIVES

1984’den bu yana, Water for All, ihtiyaç halindeki insanlara temiz içme suyu, hıfzıssıhha ve hijyen erişimi getiren projelere destek vermektedir. Bu, Atlas Copco’nun şirket eliyle yükseltilen gönüllü çalışan bağışları ile finanse edilen temel topluluk sorumluluk girişimidir. 2016’da, 50’yi aşkın ülke dahilindeki çalışanlar, kurulmuş bulunan Water for All kurumlarında hizmet vermekteydi ya da ulusal bölgelerin tesis edilmesinin bir parçasıydı.

Sonuç olarak, girişimin başlangıcı ile birlikte, iki milyona yakın insan, Water for All üzerinden temiz içme suyuna erişim elde etmiştir.

Since 1984 Water for All supports projects that give people in need access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene.

It is Atlas Copco’s main community engagement initiative financed by voluntary employee donations which are boosted by the company. In 2016, employees in more than 50 countries were working in established Water for All organizations or involved in starting up national chapters. All in all, since the start of the initiative, close to 2 million people have received access to clean drinking water through Water for All.

LESS TRAVEL GIVES LOWER CO2 EMISSIONS

More than 40% of Atlas Copco’s business is in service. Therefore, reducing the environmental footprint from service and transportation, while finding ways to provide better and faster service to the customer is in focus.

One example is by having more field technicians closer to the customers.

This strategy has resulted in shorter reaction time on service requests as well as reduced average travel time. Benefits include higher customer satisfaction, increased efficiency of worktime and reduced risk for travel incidents. In the Industrial Technique business area, for example, the reduced travel time has led to savings of > KEUR 300 a year as well a reduction of CO2 emissions by 62–73 tons (gasoline/diesel).

Bu yola ışık tutan çok önemli bir araç var; Global Çalışan Anketi “INSIGHT”.

Tüm Atlas Copco ülkelerinde iki yılda bir düzenlenen bu anketin amacı, hem Grup hem de lokal organizasyonlar bazında güçlü alanları ve gelişmeye açık alanları belirleyerek, ortak hedeflere yönelik mevcut durum analizini ortaya koyabilmektir. En sağlıklı değerlendirmeyi yapabilmek için her seviyeden %100 katılım sağlanması için oldukça emek veriliyor.

En son gerçekleşen Insight 2016 yılı sonuçlarına göre, Endüstriyel Teknik İş Alanı %100 oranında ankete katıldı. Bununla birlikte hemen hemen tüm skorlarda (Atlas Copco Tavsiye etme oranı, Liderlik İletişim Endeksi, Cazip İşveren, Müşteri Merkeziyetçi yapı, İşyeri Kültürü ve Çeşitliliği destekleme vb.) bir önceki çalışan anketine kıyasla daha güçlü skorlar ortaya koydu. Sayısal verilerden öte çalışanların içgörüsünü alabilmek ve faydalı bir tartışma zemininde sonuçların derinlemesine değerlendirmek için de anket sonuçlarını aldıktan sonraki üç ay içerisinde her bölüm ile ayrı ayrı toplantılar düzenlendi.

Toplantılardaki temel prensip tüm ekip çalışanları ile birlikte bölüm müdürlerinin ve İnsan kaynakları’nın da katılımının sağlanarak sonuçların değerlendirilip gelişin fırsatlarının bulunmasıdır. Şeffaflığa inanan Atlas Copco her alanda gelişmenin kapalı kapılar ardında değil, herkesin özgürce yeni fikir ve önerilerini tartışarak mümkün olabileceğini düşünüyor. Nitekim oluşturulan aksiyon planlarını hızlı ve çevik (agile) bir biçimde uygulamaya geçirme de ancak herkesin katılımı ve desteği ile mümkün olabiliyor.

Günümüz iş hayatında her alanda olduğu gibi çalışanların beklentileri ve işyeri uygulamaları da dinamik ve zaman içerisinde değişim gösterebiliyor.

Bu nedenle hem değişen koşullarla birlikte çalışanların geribildirimini almak hem de daha iyi sonuçlara ulaşabilmek amacıyla INSIGHT 2018 çalışmalarını Atlas Copco bu yıl da tekrarlacak.

As Atlas Copco, our dedicated and happy employees constitutes the key factor of our motto “There is always a better way”. We have a very important tool that sheds light on how we can reach this area; Global Employee Survey “INSIGHT”.

The purpose of this questionnaire, which is held every two years in all Atlas Copco countries, is to present our current situation analysis for our common goals by identifying our strong areas and open areas for development, both at the Group and local organizations. We value the highest participation rate at every level so that we can do the most healthy evaluation.

If we look at the latest Insight 2016 results, Our survey participation rate as an Industrial Technical Business Area was 100% and almost all scores (Atlas Copco Recommendation rate, Leadership Communication Index, Attractive Employer, Customer Centricity structure, Supporting Workplace Culture and Diversity etc.) showed stronger scores than the previous employee survey. However, it was very important for us to get the insight of our employees beyond numerical data and to evaluate the results in a thorough discussion. For this reason, we held separate meetings with each department within 3 months of receiving the survey results.

Our basic principle at meetings is to ensure the participation of all team employees as well as department managers and human resources. Atlas Copco believes in transparency and we believe that it is possible not for the development of each area to be behind closed doors, but for everyone to freely discuss new ideas and suggestions. As a matter of fact, we do not implement the action plans in a fast and agile manner but it is possible with everyone’s participation and support.

The expectations of our employees and workplace practices can change dynamically and over time as it is in every field in today’s business life. For this reason, we will repeat our INSIGHT 2018 studies again this year in order to receive feedback from our employees with changing circumstances and to achieve better results.
